Discussion / Question Please Help!

Idk if this is the right place to ask but I really need help with something. I'm an international student, I'm planning on travelling back to my country for around 1-2 months. My COE expires on the 30th of Nov, and I'll only be back by Jan. I was told I was not be allowed re-entry as my COE has expired. My student visa is still valid until March of next year. I've already booked tickets :'( would this be an issue? Please do help, thanks.

COE - certificate of enrollment
it just means u are enrolled into the course and the course has finished, even thou your visa is till march it is highly likely re-entry would not be granted as the COE has expired?

is your course finished? if not you will have to get an extension, like the other person said talk to student central

read this too, that if your COE finishes before your visa expires, your visa is at risk of cancellation because you have no COE.so yes even with a valid visa until March, traveling with an expired COE is risky.

I personally would not risk it. Even before all the convo about immigration, it’s just a huge risk. Yes your visa is valid but there’s always a chance that you could be asked why you’re coming back even though your COE is expired.

Anywho, check with a migration agent / lawyer just to be super sure. With all the changes regarding visa the past few days, info might be updated with an agent/lawyer.

Is your COE expired meaning you finished the course?

If yes, then yes you can go and come back with no problem! Your visa is valid until March because your course ended in November.

Now while I am only a Law student I have seen PLENTY of Border Security over the years and leaving and then re-entering will mean they re-look at your visa and if they see you COE has expired and that you don't hold current enrolment which is a condition of your visa then there is a high chance that they then cancel your visa on the spot and therefore you won't be let back in.

If you are set in wanting to go back to your home country and then come back for graduation and tie up loose ends come back on a tourist visa WITH a return flight so they don't think that your going to overstay and they know you are going to leave once your visa is up.
