Re AI use
Thank you all for the discussion about AI-generated, AI-augmented, and AI-supported material. I especially appreciated the comments addressing the harder cases: work that has been translated, proofread, formatted, or otherwise assisted by AI, rather than generated wholesale.
My sense is that the group came down largely against AI-produced material, particularly images and wholly AI-generated text. Cases such as translation, proofreading, and layout seem to generate far less concern.
So where does that leave us? Pretty much where we started: blatantly AI-generated material will be considered forbidden and taboo.
I’m confident we’ll need to revisit this as the technology makes it harder to distinguish human work from machine-generated work.
In the meantime, thank you again for your input.

Opinion of the Group Consensus of the Group re AI
I’ve locked the recent post for now while we talk through how our rule should apply. The rule says no AI-generated stuff, but there’s more nuance here than that phrase covers.
Do we want to prohibit any use of AI, or only material that’s substantially generated by it? Where do we draw the line between AI-generated and AI-assisted? Is using AI to edit or polish text okay? What about images, brainstorming, or other uses? I’m not sure a percentage threshold—50%, 48%, whatever—would give us a workable answer.
AI tools are improving quickly. Before long, it may be difficult to tell where the creator’s work ends and the machine’s contribution begins. Would a disclosure requirement, like the AI content statements some writers use on Substack, be clearer and easier to apply?
I’m not advocating for a particular answer. I want to hear what the group thinks, and I’ll abide by the consensus.
One request before this gets lively: argue the position, not the person. Please explain your case, reasoning, and beliefs without making it personal.

1-Shot Adventure Advice for New DCC Group?
Hello all! Part of an experienced table of GMs and players and would like to prep a 1-shot to show off DCC (my first time running) for the group. Am being very clear on the casual nature of just having some fun but I'm uncertain WHAT to run.
What I have read -- and my plan -- is to NOT do a funnel. That doesn't show off the system. So advice I've seen online is ~L2 adventure. Problem is, I'm not sure which are good for a 1-shot with limited playtime (~5 hours) and show off the mechanics of DCC well.
Here's the L2 adventures I have access to via a bundle a few years ago:
- Dread on Demon Crown Hill
- By Mitra's Bones, Meet Thy Doom!
- The Inn at Five Points
- Night of the Bog Beast
- Against the Thieves Guild
If there's something you really strongly recommend, I suppose I could snag it. Any advice? Pitfalls to avoid? DCC is new to myself as well so I'm not going to pretend I've got this all figured out! Thank you!
[Edit] Shoot! Forgot I also have Tome of Adventure, Vol. 1, so I also have:
Doom of the Savage Kings (L1)
People of the Pit (L1)
The Emerald Enchanter (L2)

Opinion of the Group "First Time" Running DCC - Tips
Hey everyone, I've DMed for a couple of years and finally making it to DCC. The only thing I DMed for DCC was A Portal under The Skies before this which was 2 years ago.
I will be running sailors followed by Doom of the Savage Kings (will probably continue with the Enchanter module which is the OG path I saw in a post).
Any tips, tricks, homebrew etc, while running these two modules, thank you!
