Why, it looks like your fingernails haven’t even fallen off yet. So much fun still to come!
(Not really, brother. By the time the nails go, you’ll feel fine and just be glad the burning in your hands has stopped. Sorry you got hit so bad— you’ll feel SOO much better in a couple days)

The length of time my nails took to fall off and new ones to fully grow was the worst. Took me a year to grow all my nails back to looking like normal. The worst was the old nail still in the process of falling off would snag on EVERYTHING. Clothes, car seat, towel, etc.

The lesions from HFM kill nail beds. True story, ask me how I know.
So they fall off and regrow back, almost identical to a bruised toenail minus the bruising

Got it 3 years ago from my daughter - pediatrician assured me "like, 5% chance or less you get this!"
...
Flash forward 3 days, and I have blisters on my face and hand/palms like I was the leper king Baldwin. I had to wear masks to the gas station for fear of horrifying normies. Lost 3 finger nails. I say this with full blown conviction - wash your hands good and plenty dads.

PSA for anyone finding this... If you get the sores in your mouth and throat...use "magic mouthwash". It's a concoction of maalox, liquid benadryl, and lidocaine. Swish and spit every couple hours.
And phenol spray but that stuff is probably even worse to swish and spit...so also use sparingly.
Lots and lots of ibuprofen too

This sounds like when traveling salesmen sold heroin to heal soldiers. I’m saving this answer just in case anyways.

Bro, goddamn you got it bad! How long have you had it for now?

It went through our house, and only had a few itchy bumps on my elbow. My son looked like he had a bad case of herpes though.

I never got the hand or foot but I had a brutal sore throat. Hope you recover quickly!

Adult HFMD hits on a completely different level ppl don't realize how brutal it is compared to when kids get it.

Holy fuck. My twins got HMF twice, and I’m certain I got it once but I had no clue that it could get that bad. You’re a damned hero brother.

Damn I feel for you. I had mouth sores for 8 weeks . Had to go on steroids . Hang in there.

Okay what the hell do they at least give you medication? I hear about this kind of thing going around but it’s treated like common cold sort of thing. If this is what it is we should be doing way more. Respectfully that’s disgusting and painful looking.

Because we overcorrected on the opiate epidemic and are now insufficiently managing pain. I’ve had kidney stones and they were so stingy with the pain meds the radiologist thought they hadn’t given me any from my pain levels.

god peeling skin is the absolute worst part, mine looked like i dipped my hand in wax and let it dry for a week straight. took about a month before my fingerprints came back normal, was locking myself out of my phone constantly
hang in there man, the itchiness at this stage is a good sign even though it’s maddening. keep slathering on whatever thick lotion you got, nothing fancy just something that doesn’t burn

Damn dude. I just had it about 2 weeks ago but VERY mild by comparison. Fortunately, I didn't have any gigs around that time and still don't, had most of the month off. I can't imagine playing bass while my in the peeling stage like they were late last week.
Was it just you or did any of the kiddos have it?
Hopefully another 2-3 days and you'll be in a lot better shape, that looks raw as hell right now, almost like a damn chemical burn.

Ouch!!! I was spared too much damage to my hands or feet but I got about 50 ulcers in my mouth and throat. Absolutely miserable.

I called mine lego hands because I couldn't move them from that shape. It also was the gift that kept giving when a month later all the calluses fell off my finger tips and I could feel EVERYTHING, I could feel the ridges of my fingerprint, I found out stuff from the fridge felt cold and worst was first time I took something out of the microwave after and it felt like I had touched the sun. I would tell you more but don't want to ruin all the surprises.
