Experienced Microsoft Power Platform career shift

Hey everyone, looking for some outside perspective on an issue I'm facing with work.

I’ve been at my company for about 5 years, working in C# .NET and Angular, with some Azure sprinkled in mostly for logging purposes.

A few months ago, management informed us that our product will be rebuilt in Power Platforms with a target go live date this time of year in 2027. We will all be starting training in the next few months.

I’m pretty stressed about my marketability. From what I gather, Power Platform is heavily low-code/no-code, and with AI already shifting how software is built, I’m worried that spending the next couple of years in a drag and drop system is going to tank my resume. Sure, having a CS background helps build cleaner and more scalable solutions within the tool, but does anyone actually respect Power Platform experience for a traditional software engineering role?

Is this a massive career detour, or am I overreacting? Angular is already dated and I've heard nothing but complaints and annoyances about Power BI, so that doesn't instill confidence in this announcement.

I would love to hear from anyone who has made a similar shift or hires devs with this background.

They’ll need you for the migration. Would they need developers for the project after?

Yes, they've told us we will all continue working on the product after the migration is completed.

I work in a blended environment using Power Platform.

It can be super rewarding because you can build impressive applications with lots of features fast. It stinks because a lot of people don’t understand the licensing well enough to adopt it.

Also a lot of terrible ass devs hide behind the Sharepoint/Power Platform Dev and are only useful in a handful of situations.

As for advice if they are committing to a fully premium environment with dataverse stick with it you can build custom connectors and components that are high level programming still if not and they trying to use the free + Sharepoint storage look to bail the complexity is so low you will get undercut when they want to save money.

This is not good for you. It will make your resume not worth to look at and with 5 years in C# and angular you can do much more.

Start study and begin to interview
