So I've been thinking of realistic ideas for future Criterion boxsets. Yesterday, I did a post of a Paul Verhoeven Dutch boxset. Today, I'm focusing on a Bob Fosse boxset. Considering Bob Fosse only directed 5 movies, perhaps it wouldn't be too hard to get a collection together but there are two hurdles to getting it done.
The collection would include all of Bob Fosse's work as a director including:

Super nice guy, promoting his new photography book at the Leica soho store, but it was just him and a table. If you didn’t want to buy the book (I did buy it) he had free postcards to sign. Took time chatting with everyone. Wall-E is one of my favorite movie of all time and I asked if he had the criterion in which he said “I’m very proud of it, one of my best achievements, I own all the copies of this film.”

You can probably guess which grouping is his and which is hers lol.
Haul Questionnaire:
Someone will be watching Seven Samurai tonight because someone else rolled their eyes at a 3.5 hour Japanese epic from 1954. They will convert them, just you wait.
Someone has been looking forward to getting 12 angry men on 4k for a while.
Pretty sure all four on top are blind buys but they seem really excited and informed about all of them. We've both been on kind of on a Sandra Huller kick lately so someone may have subtly pressured someone else into selecting that.
100% the 4k Parasite when it releases, but the overall Criterion wishlist remains long. Boots Riley boxset when?!

First thing to watch is Harlan County USA.
I've been looking to acquire this film. I'm excited to finally own it, and in 4k.
It's not a blind buy, but I've only seen it once.
I should have pulled the trigger on Festival by Murray Lerner on Blu-Ray. I regret not getting it, I hope to get that next.

A lot of shorter films among this haul, I just noticed.

I've picked these up thrifting over the years, now to get all the remasters. (I'm looking at you Ran)

I ordered the cases on Amazon but now I have 7 extra. I would offer to share them but this sub won’t allow such things.

Reposting because, for some reason, it was taken down the first time

I think my first watch from this will be "Lost Highway" as I've never seen a movie from David Lynch, only his TV work.
I'm thrilled to own "Original Cast Album: Company" because I adore Sondheim and it's so wonderful to see him working with singers. Beyond that, I love the documentary now parody "Original Cast Album: Co-Op" which stars John Mulaney as Sondheim.
As mentioned above Lost Highway is a blind buy. Throne of Blood is also a blind buy. I'm pretty careful about blind buys typically and usually restrict it to directors and/or writers I'm familiar with and trust. In this case I've seen Ran and Seven Samurai from Kurosawa and Twin Peaks so both felt pretty safe.
I usually restrict myself to only a few movies at a time, but my wishlist includes My Darling Clementine as I don't have any western's from Criterion. I'm also looking at Pink Flamingos as I don't have anything irreverent or exploration in my collection.

Rififi will be the first watch, have plans for it in November. Have seen No Country and Memories of Murder but the rest are blind buys. The blind buys are all part of movie syllabi I have planned for the next few years and felt significant enough to pick up. Missed out on the Kubrick set but got plenty to keep me occupied until the next sale.

The first movie I plan to watch is Ressurection by Bi Gan because I've had it in my watchlist since it came out and I've been eyeing it for months and months.
I havent been wanting to own this for a very long time, but every since my girlfriend introduced me to Haneke (Funny Games, which also introduced me to Naked City/John Zorn), I've been DYING to own his other movies. I'm very excited to watch The Piano Teacher and rewatch FG.
Also Mishima, I was mesmerized for the entire movie and have actually picked a book of his and plan to grab a few more from my local HPB.
Many blind buys actually! I haven't seen or read any reviews for: Hedwig, The Funeral, Days Of Heaven, Woman In The Dunes, or Frances Ha (a Twitch streamer I like LOVES this one).
A couple I'm hoping to add next are Do The Right Thing and Kpop Demom Hunters.
Also included are updated photos of my Criterion shelf. Specfically the Criterion shelf....

But it came wrapped in plastic?? Oh my god and there’s a microscopic dent that’s too small to see in photos (and the naked eye). I should email Criterion for a full refund, right?

The first movie I plan to watch is a taste of cherry. Right now I’m watching through the koker trilogy and after I finish I plan on attending to this. Close-up was one of my top ten movies I’ve seen this year and was blown away. Wasn’t a fan of the wind Will Cary us, so I was surprised and loved the fact that I was “proved wrong” and moved the way I was with close up. I am hoping this movie delivers.
It’s felt like a long time, but in reality it’s only been two months. But saw both Love Streams and Network and loved loved both. Those were the two movies I was most excited to own. My favourite Cassavettes yet with a woman under the influence a close second. Husbands is next on my watchlist from him. Network’s script was like poetry to me and I think it’s one of my favourite “anti-system” movies out there. Flawless. Tempted to rewatch very friken soon.
Taste of Cherry a blind buy. Little nervous and have been trying to minimize my blind buys. I’ve learned that a lot of movies aren’t for me and I don’t need to own everything. I want my collection to be flawless movies and curating what I have as my tastes change and evolve is one of my favourite parts about the hobby. Acquiring is obviously fun, but I like weeding through and trying to have only what I love love. But my local library system doesn’t have this movie so I’m taking a chance by purchasing without viewing.
I think maybe for Barnes and noble sale I’ll pick up Onibaba last week. Saw it and really loved it. When I watch the other two Koker trilogy movies I might try to get that as well. The first one, where is the friends house was so awesome. Just watched this morning.
Bonus: I already own dead man, but gave to my brother to loan and he loved it so I’m gonna let him keep it. Love the movie and Jim Jarmusch at large.
Thanks for reading. Feel free to share your thoughts and recs. I’m new to the hobby and am about a year into to watching movies more seriously and journaling about them. It’s been a fun journey. Thank you all for sharing your posts and giving me bursts of joy and conversation throughout the day

Does anyone know of any sellers who sell covers for the WKW box set movies? The box itself is beautiful but I’d also love to have the individual movies on my shelf for show lol. I see that its been done for the Kubrick Box set so I’m curious if anyones done it with their WKW.

First move to watch = “The Wages of Fear”
Tati set had been on my wish list for a while, along with Wings of Desire.
“Sorcerer” was a blind buy though been high on my watchlist for some time now.
Hoping to add Midnight Cowboy 4k release early next year.

These movies are ones I enjoy with its special features.
The special features on the different movies vary a lot, some have barely any and others have hours upon hours and over 100 pages. So what do you think has the best special features or presentation.
