Hi guys. I’m sure some of you guys have come across accounts like Howie and Winnie the crabs, as well as other pet crab accounts on the Internet. Sorry if I didn’t use the right flare, but this has been bothering me for a couple days now and I’m wondering if anybody else is seeing this.

Recently, an account called Crip the Crab was created on Instagram. A woman is claiming she found a land crab outside with only its claws, no legs, so he could not move. She has been rehabbing him for the last couple of weeks.

This woman already has Meta accounts, Ko-Fi, X, Threads, Tiktok, and Youtube set up for this crab. She also claims she is writing a children’s book about him. His IG account was created literally just this month. Maybe I’m just thinking too hard about this, but I feel like I smell a scam. There’s likely no real way to know if she injured Crip herself, but even if she didn’t, this whole race to monetize this crab within a couple of weeks of finding him just feels very weird. I dunno. Has anyone else seen this?
