I haven't seen an update on the lawsuit posted anywhere and it's been a long time. I think it's appropriate to post this here because like it or not cosmetics and cases are a big part of this game and the ruling will affect CS.

Basic breakdown:

NYAG's main argument asserts that because third party market places exist, random items from loot boxes in Valve's games constitutes them running an illegal casino (they are saying people are opening cases so that they can then cash out the items for real money).

Valve's argument is that loot boxes are like buying a pack of baseball cards (randomized commerce) and that if existing law is interpreted in the way NYAG says it should be, that should loot boxes be considered gambling, trading cards, cereal boxes with prizes, blind bags, labubu's etc. can all also be considered forms of illegal gambling under existing law (NYAG sort of confirmed that might be the case).

Valve filed a motion to dismiss in May this year and the court will hear oral arguments in January before coming to a decision.

Also noteworthy is that 3 class action lawsuits in individual states from people claiming damages from losses from opening loot boxes have been combined into one federal(?) one, and Democratic lawmakers are looking to introduce disclosure rules and age gating.

The class action stuff is basically reliant on Valve losing vs. NYAG as I understand it, otherwise it is likely to fail (there have been many similar civil cases brought against Valve over loot boxes in the US and they have all failed).

The lawmaker stuff is also reliant on the outcome of the court case. It actually seems to have changed over the last couple months because last time I looked it up they were basically trying to ban loot boxes in the US.

Most likely outcomes are that either Valve's motion to dismiss gets upheld (loot boxes are like trading cards) or the lawsuit actually goes ahead, which will take a long time and in the meantime most likely NYAG and Valve will come to an agreement which will determine what new law would look like (i.e. meaning regulation) and Valve's liability in the class action stuff.

My thoughts are that for NYAG's argument to be upheld people would actually have to be opening cases to intentionally sell for real money and I don't think anyone is actually doing that IRL.

I've been playing CS2 for about 600 hours, I haven't spent much money on it, but I have sometimes

lately I've often come across cheaters in rounds, and they got banned.

A month ago, I got a VAC ban. Why? I don't know.

After that, my teammate had cheats and I also got banned for 7 days. Yesterday my VAC ban was lifted and I went to warm up in casual mode, everything went fine there. After that, I went to play with partners and I got banned for 31 days for cheats. I created a second Steam account and decided to play there, but I also got a VAC ban for 20 hours.

When the ban ended I played for a couple of hours and everything was fine, but about 30 minutes ago I joined a competitive match. There was a clear cheater on the other team, he was killing through smoke, headshots only, one bullet each time. In that one round I killed through smoke and in the next round I got banned again.

I've never played with cheats, I barely figured out how to remove the intro in CS so it wouldn't freeze in the beginning

I don't know what to do, I really want to play normally again and not be afraid that they’ll block it again

I’ve recently been working on a CS2 skin using AI-generated source illustrations. I was open about that in my post, and it led to some criticism—which got me thinking about where the community draws the line.

I’ve looked through Valve’s CS2 Workshop guidelines and haven’t found an explicit general ban on AI-generated artwork. The guidelines do say that all elements of a submission should be original, and Steam’s terms require creators to have the necessary rights. What I haven’t found is a clear explanation of how Valve applies those requirements to AI-generated artwork in Workshop submissions.

If Valve has addressed this more directly somewhere, I’d appreciate a link.

I’m curious about your views:

• Is there a meaningful difference between using AI for inspiration and using AI-generated artwork in the final skin?

• Does it matter how much work the creator puts into the design, textures and in-game finish afterwards?

• Should AI use always be disclosed on a Workshop submission?

• Should Valve make its rules clearer, or ban AI-generated artwork from Workshop submissions altogether?

I know people feel strongly about this, and I’d like to hear from both Workshop creators and players. I’m interested in the legal and rule side, but also in whether you think it’s fair to other artists and what you’d actually want to see in the game.

Hi guys, I'll be succinct, I created an extension for myself to rotate my blocked players list because 5 static blocks were not enough for me. It works by checking if the player is always on a match, banned or usually don't play in that hour. I ask a lot but i usually only have a few clips here and there. This was a god awful game in my level 5 lobbies. I did horrid so i just edited down the whole thing. I just struggle to stabilize my aim i stg.

I can see my numerous position issues but goddamn I cant hit a thing.

this happened like 4 times throughout the match at just the worst possible moments where everyone's pings jump to 900+ and we come back to multiple of us dead cause i guess it just didn't hit the other team as hard.

worst part is it shows i hit 1 in 22 at the end of the round lmfao. 3 matches with no issues straight into this shit

i pulled the racing greens, if that matters.

Me and my friend got Vac banned for a few hours because we were playing against bots and my friend even managed to get 5 kills one round, the match eventually got canceled, and we didn't even hack! It feels like Vac is banning everyone except hackers.

is there any way i can get this removed?
