“The Rusty Reeds of EBay” would make a good title for an Irish folk song.
I rolled the dice on picking up an older Chemnitzer. Would a professional even restore these reeds, or tell me they’d have to be replaced? At least one is bent.

All new compositions bar one French tune. I've been to it listening on repeat all week, it's quickly becoming one of my favourite trad albums of all time.

There’s some concertina workshops. Also, many of the workshops are for any instrument.

I've wanted to try for years but I can't find one within my price range. I could probably wrangle someone around a hundred dollars but they all seem to be at least two hundred dollars. A factor is I've also been terrible at every instrument I've tried. So investing a lot of money in something I have no idea if I have any chance at being good at is an issue. I was recommended that I should post here for recommendations on a path forward. I live in Maryland and was to play sea shanties and folk music.

Hello. I've been playing the anglo concertina for the past few years, and I'm hooked. I'm writing a piece about it, and I am tempted to say that the anglo is somewhat easier to learn and play than the English and duet systems. But since I'm not particularly familiar with those versions fo the instrument, I am not speaking from real knowledge.
What say those of you who know more about both systems?

I found clips of people playing, but it’s always on a 30 button or English and I can’t see what is played on both sides. I’m really struggling with it. I’ve had my fingers crossed that someone would upload a how to on the song but I can’t find one. Anyone?

Tune Supply’a Virtual Learning 2026: https://tune.supply Then click the register button to see details of each course.
These are the only ones specific to the concertina and aimed at Irish style playing on a C/G anglo.
Padraic Rynne - 12/6/26 4-5pm
Lexie Boatright - Concertina Rolls Bootcamp
I have taken previous workshops with both of them and they are very good.
Lexie is also teaching a hop jig workshop on harp aimed at all melody instruments, so there won’t be specific concertina techniques and Brenda Castles is teaching another workshop that is aimed at all melody instruments.

Hi everyone!
I was looking to get some identification help with this instrument which I’ve bought at an auction for 80 bucks in Germany.
It was advertised as a Bandoneon from the 20th century, but now that I’ve done some research I’m starting to doubt what the auction house told me.
Is it possible that this is actually a German concertina (Carlsfelder?), a Bandoneon predecessor? What really throws me off personally is the way the buttons are arranged and the number of buttons in general (22/28).
I was wondering if anyone could maybe help me to actually identify this instrument and maybe tell me what this circular round thing, which has been mounted to the frame from the insid is.
Thanks in advance :)

New player here, trying to learn 30 button anglo concertina. I’m having some issues holding the instrument and setting the straps. Not sure if it’s because I have long fingers, or just that I’m not following the videos I’ve seen correctly.
I have no problems reaching the first and second (C) rows, but when I play in G I have issues. I can have the straps running just behind my knuckles, but then I find that when my fingers are clawed in enough to hit the buttons it becomes awkward and painful after a while. If I move the straps over my knuckles, I can keep my fingers straighter and avoid the cramping, but the straps are then pretty loose and interfere with my fingers, and my thumb is short of the air button.
So, do I have things adjusted correctly, am I holding it correctly (with the straps in the right place), or is the hand position just something I have to get used to?

Another question: do you know if theres any webpage to write tabs as Gary Coover? Or something like this
THANKS A LOT! Today is my 21th day playing it and i can play like 15 songs, i love concertina!

I’ve been looking into a concertina to learn as a fun hobby. I’m a somewhat experienced musician, mainly my experience is from clarinet but I have a piano I’ve been learning on and off and played bari sax in school a few years back. Long story short, it doesn’t need to be a beginner friendly concertina, as even if it takes longer to learn I think I’ll like the complexity lol
I think I’d enjoy an English concertina, seems to have more variety with kinds of music. My taste is broad so I’ll probably end up playing all sorts of things. 48 buttons would be ideal, I think that’s the standard but most I see for sale are 30, so if 30 is about the same minus a couple octaves I don’t think I’d mind if it came to that.
I’ve been browsing concertina.net forums for recommendations but haven’t had the time for a deep dive. There’s a Trinity College available on Amazon but only has 2 unfavorable reviews, and the forums didn’t seem to like the brand either. I saw a Scarlatti, which seemed to have mixed but leaning to negative reception, then Stagi, which seemed the best out of the brands I saw immediately for sale but still not great? Obviously there’s thousands of experiences and not every one will be great even if it’s a generally good brand. Just haven’t had the time to parse out which ones are valid complaints. So thought posting here might be a less time consuming place to start. I saw a few recommendations in the FAQ so I’ll be sure to check those out as well!
Along with brands, if there are any reputable websites to buy from that would be appreciated. I’m always scared I’ll be scammed when it comes to purchases like these no matter how much research I do on the site lmao.
