Anyone going to the International Halloween Party tomorrow? 🎃

Hey everyone!

I was planning to go to the International Halloween Party at Helios 37 tomorrow (Thursday), but the people who were supposed to come with me ditched me at the last minute. 💀

Still want to go, though, since the event sounds pretty fun! Is anyone here planning to go? If you're going with a group or even solo, hit me up! We could meet up, grab a drink, enjoy the music, and make a night out of it.

Event: International Halloween Party

📍 Helios 37, Ehrenfeld

🕚 Thursday, 29 October, 11 PM

Hope to see some of you there! 🎃

Diskussion Was tun in Köln alleine?

• Upvotes

Hallo zusammen,

ABSURD payment system at Ausländeramt

So last week I had an appointment with the foreign office to get my Aufenthaltstitel zur Erwerbstätigkeit (which took me almost a year but I digress), and when everything's done, I wanted to pay right? Turns out, you have to go to the other building across the street and pay over there. I thought "huh weird" cause back in Düsseldorf and most of other cities, we all can just pay the cost right there and there.

But the worker there told me, oh I can't do it now because it's only open from 8 am until 12 pm and I'm like what😂😂 ????? Okay sure, I can go there tomorrow. So the next day I went there, and turns out, for every Thursday the counter is closed because of Personalmangel therefore it's closed every Thursday. Okay this is getting irritating I though to myself but it is still in my control.

So I went there again this week, because I work and I can't exactly just dedicate an hour or two of my day just for this you know. So today, on Wednesday, apparently, the counter is STILL closed because of the fact that THERE IS NO ONE THERE. So I asked the lady at the information counter, when is the damn thing open????? She said oh yeah today is just exception, it should be open any other day, but she said at the end ... "Do not quote me on that though"🤷‍♂️.

CAN I PAY FOR MY CARD HOLY HELL, oh but they accept cards though so Hallelujah!

https://railcation.de/bahn-in-daten/ab-koeln

https://www.railcation.de/ziele?ab=K%C3%B6ln+Hauptbahnhof&ab_lat=50.942780&ab_lng=6.959070&fahrzeit=4

Fahrplandaten: DELFI e. V. (CC BY 4.0), Unterkünfte: OpenStreetMap

Events Christmas market in November

Hello
I am travelling with my wife and a six-year-old boy on 14th November, staying for two nights and three days.

I know it’s a bit early for a Christmas market but is there any Xmas market which would be opened and still decent around that time?

Also, I was planning to visit the Chocolate Museum too, do you guys think it’s worth the hype or it’s a waste of time and money?

Looking forward to hearing some responses.

Suche / looking for..

Diskussion Hotel Rec - Lindner Am Dom vs Hyatt Regency December

Hello. I am visiting Cologne for the first time in December from the USA. I fly USA to Ams to DUS and then train to Cologne on a Friday. It's a long journey (I know there are more efficient itineraries but it is what my travel office booked for me). I arrive 15:00 after that long day of travel and will depart Sunday at 11:00 via train.

I need a recommendation between the jDv Lindner AM Dom and the Hyatt Regency.

The Lindner is appealing because it is close to the station. After a long journey it would be nice to walk right to the hotel. I will have one rolling suitcase with me.

It is also appealing because it seems like I can walk out the door and be in more interesting places and the Christmas Markets.

The HR is clearly a nicer hotel property. The walk across the bridge seems lovely.

I do value being able to walk out my door and into interesting places. It is only 1.5km across the bridge. So if the hotel is that much better I will consider it. That first night sleep will be important.

Then I have a full day to explore all of Cologne. I have note done my homework on that topic yet. I tend to look for less touristy places and definitely local food. I do not drink alcohol so beer is not important to me.

I have to book a Hyatt because I have points to use.

Thank you in advance for any recommendations or insight.

Planning to visit Cologne in early December to enjoy the christmas markets. What do I need to know?

Hello all!

I am considering visiting your city in early December, mostly for the christmas markets. We are planning to stay for 3 days so we would also like to visit the city and possibly any surrounding cities that might be worthy. I have a couple of questions about this trip:

- Are all the Christmas markets close to the Cathedral? From the maps I have found it seemed so, but I wanted to confirm
- From an access standpoint, is there any zone to avoid? It seemed to me that the city is very well served with trams and subway. We are considering staying 15/20 from tram to the center
- Do the markets usually accept payments by card or is it better to have money with us?

Thank you!

Wohnen / housing Paralysed - should I mention it before apartment viewings?

I am currently looking for an apartment (like everyone, lol)

Since I'm partially paralyzed I need something without steps obviously.

Sadly a lot of people on Immoscout and such forget to mention whether the entrance has stairs or not - I have seen multiple apartments which were not explicitly labelled as accessible but turned out to be (at least for me) accessible.

Now I'm wondering, should I just put the fact that I'm in a wheelchair into the message when i write someone? Sadly I'm afraid that some people's idea of disabled people will lower my chances to be invited, however it's also hard to find out if places are stairless on just the pictures and Google street view...

Is there any elegant way to mention this?

Köln: So steht es um Innenstadt-Feuerwache

Thumbnail
