Injury Giddey needs to sit out

Why are they so insistent on playing him through this injury? I get the team would look terrible without a facilitator besides Jones but Giddey on 25% looks terrible. The team is rebuilding, might as well let him rest

Analytics Why we miss Ayo and Coby so much.

First off what you’re about to read does not excuse any of the poor play we’ve seen from most of the team thus far. I have given this some thought and after reading some other members posts I’ve come to some conclusions.

The Bulls don't have enough ballhandler/creators like they have had in the past years and it really shows. This is not to say I feel resigning both Ayo or Coby was the right thing to do, as much as I liked and appreciated what they brought the cost may have been too high. IDK

Lets look at what each brought to the table. Coby IMO often brought a very dangerous scoring threat but maybe his defense wasn’t always great , while Ayo brought more consistent if not very good defense while his offense was at times inconsistent. What they BOTH brought however was ball handling and shot creating for others which this current team lacks beside Giddey and Tre atm.

Having two reasonable ball handlers on the court at all times does so many things. Teams can’t take the ball out of the primaries hands and get away with it like they seem to be doing to Josh atm. Maybe some will recall the Cavs doing this to Rose in an important playoff game. AYo also had his Ayo runs where Josh could pass to him or he‘d take the rebound and use his speed to finish or create an easy bucket for teammate. Coby was a threat to pull up or take it to the basket and score or dish as well.

The starters, as it stands, lack a 2nd true ballhandler /creator . I do think Caleb can and will become this in time but his handles aren’t there yet. Matas may have better handles but hasn’t shown much on the creator side aside from doing it himself. Powell , from what I’ve seen isn’t the guy either, maybe it’s too early to say this but while he can score and thats certainly a nice threat to have , I havent been impressed with his dishes to others when defense comes to him. Stix is a shoot first big and not the distributor either (damn I think Vuc has a couple things I miss 😳)

This shows a bit less in the 2nd unit as I think Miller and even Buddy have shown better flashes of these skills than the starters.

I’m glad Ayo is having a chance to show his stuff on a higher level stage with MINN but we certainly should be looking for some 2 way guards who can fill this need , maybe Swain can get there someday.

Fluff Going to the game at the United Center tomorrow. What is the best way to get to/from the Metra?

Will be my first time taking public transportation to a game. Wondering if it is better to take a bus, an Uber, or the pink/green line and then walk the 15 minutes. Anyone done this and have suggestions for before and after the game? It will be Ogilvy.

Fluff Bulls schedule, who did we p*iss off?

Holy cow. Just flipping through it, we've got maybe 2 games with non playoff teams in nearly a month? Expect maybe 4 wins. It's insane.

Fluff Someone in leadership needs to talk with Buzelis; Matas is clearly in his head and having an identity crisis.

I believe Matas thought he was the face of the franchise under the AKME regime, and now with Caleb Wilson clearly taking the helm of the Bulls and the new leadership of Bryson Graham, it’s evident that Matas is in his head. He looks shell shocked. He looks scared. He is invisible.

Someone needs to set him aside and walk him through his new role. He isn’t the face of the Bulls, be he can still be a star if he just lets go of his leadership role and accepts his responsibility as a defensive player who can make 3s and attack the rim. He just doesn’t seem to know what to do and it’s hurting any chance of the Bulls winning.

I hope I’m wrong and he comes out of this ok, but it’s been pretty glaring how quiet he’s been on the court.

Fluff Caleb-pilled like I was DRose-pilled

• Upvotes

Been listening to the most popular national NBA pods, and for the most part the media have guys like Cam Boozer and Yaxel as the favorites for this year's ROY race. And it ticks me off lol. Boozer is shooting abysmally (and yet it's okay because he's just a "winning player" no matter how he does lol). And Yaxel is in Golden State, so he's getting a lot of love. Don't get me wrong, Caleb gets a lot of praise too. But objectively, I think he's leading the ROY race. And I feel like as long as Caleb is delivering in the way he has thus far, I'm going to be so invested in this ROY race. As a Bulls fan, I haven't felt about one of our guys since DRose's MVP year-- when it'd get so annoyed when some media people considered Dwight or LeBron as favorites

Fluff Positives After Another Blowout

1) Caleb Wilson looked as good as any game he's played this season - and yes, I know he scored 30 in the last one. His effort and impact were better on the defensive end in this one, and he made a lot of good decisions when he got into the paint. He played excellent defense on Tatum, making several strong contests when placed in isolation against him. He showed growth in a lot of the areas that don't necessarily show up in the box score, and that has me really encouraged. His +/- reflects this - he was only -3 despite playing 30+ minutes in a 35-point blowout. Plus, he just looked a lot more confident to me, the way he carried himself on the court while handling the ball - I think he's settling into the NBA and the game is already slowing down for him. He shot 7-15 against a very good defensive team where he had to generate most of the points for himself, and still couldn't knock down a three. Some of those threes will start to go down, and then you'll see some really explosive scoring nights.

2) The Bulls played the Celtics close until they caught fire in the third quarter... so that's good.

3) Besides Caleb's 31:40 minutes of action, no one played more than half the game, so we're well rested. (I feel like I'm grasping at straws here)

Surely I'm missing something. Anyone else have other positives??

NBA Draft Norman & Buddy

Two ideal veterans for a young rebuilding team, both at the Guard position, so as not to hinder the development of our young Forwards; and they can both shoot the rock?

I’d prefer being competitive in as many games as possible, missing the playoffs and getting a high lottery pick. Let’s go Bulls!!!

Fluff The Bulls really miss Nic Claxton

I think Bulls fans would be wise to withhold judgement on this group until we see them with Nic Claxton.

This team has a ton of issues and one player can't be a savior although Caleb Wilson is definitely doing his best. But one issue that can be solved is with the vertical gravity Claxton has as an above the rim threat.

Not having a rim runner to help open up the floor magnifies the issues this roster has in the half court and strips a weapon from Giddey and Powell as playmakers. I don't think he's solving the defensive issues too meaningfully but the two man game with Giddey is tasty on paper and he'll help the wings as a player who commands a body in the paint. Having another threat on the floor will ease a bit of the burden on the other four starters and I think will take this offense up a notch.

Trade Anybody not named Caleb Wilson should be on the trade block. Acquire assets so you can trade for the next superstar who wants out.

That's what needs to be done IMO. I'm not sure how Giddey and Matas fit with Caleb. Especially Giddey and his non-existent defense. We need to acquire as many assets as possible so we can get whichever star wants out.

Highlight CALEB WILSON IS EVERYTHING THAT TYRUS THOMAS AND PATRICK WILLIAMS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE

This stud figured out how to score 30 points in his THIRD NBA game, on pure hustle, fast break dominance and aggression. This isn’t normal. Especially considering this game is coming off a back to back.

He’s everything that’s advertised. It’s okay to be optimistic. This is the first time in my Bulls watching life that they’ve had THIS type of player. A 6’10 true PF who runs the floor like a guard, is ultra aggressive and desperately wants to punish the rim EVERY TIME he gets the ball near it. Tyrus Thomas failed to be that guy. So did Patrick Williams.

This time is different. We have our franchise cornerstone.
