It's literally been a crawl for the last 2 hours from Nickajack Lake in Jasper to the 59 exit 167. I have basically only made it 10 miles in 2 hours

Friend search - again (:

31 yo F, married, 17 month old son. I’m looking to make some friends in or around Chattanooga. Hobbies are weight lifting/exercise/healthy living, reading, painting, plants, board games. I really miss hiking and rock climbing but definitely have paused on that quite a bit since the baby. Not religious. Full time occupational therapist. Don’t really watch TV. I don’t really drink alcohol and don’t smoke and yes.. I sound super boring :(

leave a message if you think we would mesh!

P.S. not looking for anything other than friendship.

Discussion Discussion: I'm a fan of Chattanooga, am I too optimistic?

I moved here with my Dad in high school, hated it, turned 18 and left "for good." Spent the next ten plus years working in IT as a digital nomad several cities and states; Southwest, Midwest, West Coast, and Northern Pacific; then my dad got sick and I moved back, he passed away and by then I also had a two children of my own. I do ok, I work a job that is quite demanding and requires a lot of travel at times but the big perk I can live pretty much anywhere there's WiFi and a decent airport. So for the last twelve years or so back I decided to embrace this city while they grew up.

It's been aggressively OK. I've lived enough places to understand no place is perfect and I both condemn and defend aspects of every place I have lived; traffic, crime, weather, culture. There is simply no perfect place to live. I found the tradeoffs here acceptable the good balanced out the bad--a Goldilocks city. Not too big or too small, not too anything but enough of it at the same time. Most importantly I was slowly able to build a solid friend group of people that have been amazing with everything from childcare to emotional support over the years. Though several have left in recently; everything from retired to Florida to took an amazing job abroad.

So now my last child is graduating.

I watched the city build and grow and genuinely seem to be on the right path the majority of my time back. Granted not having to work here made a huge difference since the local job market didn't really impact me but I still needed an affordable, safe place to raise kids, so I did care about the local culture, economy, and government and it seemed B-/C+ in my opinion conservative but flashes of progressive influence--the way the city decorates downtown for Juneteenth, a mayor that walks in Pride Parades, that's something right?

Anyway, is it time to escape?

What are your major predictions for Chattanooga through 2030 that will decide whether getting out or riding it out is the best option?

I-24 slowdown

Crazy story, if anyone experienced a random slowdown on I-24 a couple minutes ago, someone's dog had fallen or something out of their car and ran like 2 miles down the interstate. It was pretty crazy a few miles from downtown almost hit the poor thing they got their dog back tho! Not sure what flair this falls under, but thought I'd share.

Randomly decided I was tired of sitting on the couch after work today and told my girlfriend throw some decent clothes on, we’re going for a walk. Parked at Ross’ Landing, took the riverwalk to the bridge, and was just in time to catch this stunning sunset.

Anybody going to the Halloween Rave at the Signal on the 30th?

My wife and I are relatively new to the area and picked up two tickets. I've never been to this venue before.

edit: I honestly don't know why all the downvotes. Is it in poor taste posting in a community sub forum, looking for some community?

Anyone have experience with Volunteer Behavioral Health?

I am looking to call this place to set up an appointment and I am kind of nervous about it. But I am experiencing an almost month long manic episode and I can't take it anymore. Because I don't have insurance, it has been hard to find anyone that is willing to help me and teledoc services like Amazon and the like won't prescribe me what I need because I have been off meds for a while.

Does anyone have any experience with Volunteer Behavioral Health? Is it a good place to go to actually get help?

This is really funny to me. If it’s not a troll, why would a parent not look up what events you’re sending your kid to?

Looking For... Places to buy second hand art supplies in Chatt?

I’ve been getting into acrylic, oil and watercolor painting but I can’t afford high quality supplies. I’d love to buy some gently used art supplies but I have no idea where I’d find something like that.

Things To Do Riverwalk or South Chickamauga Greenway?

We’re in Chattanooga for a few days and wanted to get out on our bicycles. Which one should we do (I’m leaning towards the Riverwalk)?

Is there parking for the Riverwalk at the Chickamauga Dam Day Use Area? If not where’s the best place to park close to that?

Any suggestions where we might have an early dinner along the trail?

TIA
