🗣️ DISCUSSION January window

So there is alot of criticism on our summer signings and whether its what we need to stay up so January feels like a massive window for us. So what do we need? I get a feeling we may opt for loan signings over perm moves and hope we can loan an absolute quality player for 6 months especially in midfield. Haven't got a clue who but we need a gamechanger!

This feels like discussion for the sake of throwing two pence in... But for what it's worth, it's far too early at the moment to be making judgement. There are aspects of our game I've been truly frustrated with but also aspects of it that I've been very pleased with. When we have looked good we have looked GOOD, and conversely when dire... You get the point.

Some stand out observations...

Rudoni is simply class. Great feet, position and hunger to get on the ball. But he is being under utilised taking the corners, which are a bit hit and miss with him. He needs to be on the end of them not taking them.

We have tried too often to hoof the ball up field and lose it. I'd like to see more possession. We could be a really patient passing team and work the goals a bit more rather than hit and hope or counter attack. Yes those situations can play out and should be utilised for the element of surprise, but we are far too predictable in what we do. When we've been a bit more patient but still direct, we've been able to be ruthless (eg vs Newcastle).

I think we will be very lucky to stay in the PL but we seem to let pressure get to us. If we just play and enjoy football, communicate well with one another, the goals will come. We're letting the pressure get in our heads at times.

I believe the quality of passing and first touches need to improve from BTA, EMC, YIRENCHI, and Hamer needs a start. Torp also needs some minutes pushing rudoni higher and allowing him to create space.

We don't need more or new players we need to work to the strengths of the ones we've got. What happens on the training pitches is very different to a match, and it feels like Frank is letting the success on the training pitch cloud what he does in games. If we haven't figured out our best starters, it's ok to try a new tactic.

Yes but some of the sentiment is way off the mark. We don't need to be thinking about new players. We have great ones already. Get a chemistry going which we have proven can be done already and work on that. Then there is no need for this entire post.

I can't imagine us signing anyone else unless we offload a couple for an actual fee rather than letting them go once their contract runs down

Probably too early to say. A midfielder? Perhaps, but we haven't exhausted our possibilities in the current squad as yet.

If we were to sign anyone in January, my guess as of now is that it would be either for injury cover or long term investment.

Can't imagine we can really afford more signings. If the battle looks close, the maybe. If we're 10-15 points off 17th, I imagine we'll be looking to build to bounce back. Looking at the best options to replace players like rudoni and Thomas who might get snapped up.

We have too many players as it is. This is probably your lot, unless someone gets nabbed by a bigger club

I personally don't think we should be spending in the January window. Yes it would be great to stay up but there's a reason we started the season second favourite for relegation - one transfer window is very difficult to strengthen enough to survive when competitors have been spending huge for ages.

I see this season as building for a proper better attempt at staying up in two years, with players who will have bedded in and be experienced at playing in the PL.

We can't be going all in spending money that we don't have, got to plan sensibly. It's been a bonus coming up this season and the money coming into the club will help.

But it's a tough ask for promoted teams to stay up. That being said it's still early, it took Leeds a long time to find their feet last season and once they did they went up a gear. Our players are struggling with the pace of the game which isn't surprising
