50lb and a 70lb blue catfish in the same trip. October through January always produces some monster cats. Not quite a new Pb for me but serious fish nonetheless. Caught both these fish on redear sunfish head sections. Dragging baits upstream on river ledges. 4 foot 50lb mono dragging rig with a 9/0 offset octopus circle hook. 100lb braided main line on a Okuma Cortez Cz 12 paired with a Denali Bottom Feeder medium heavy. More video and pics on my social medias and YouTube just not sure how to link all that yet.

I bought a cast net a week ago to toss it for shad to use as catfish bait. I went out for about an hour this weekend and only netted 1. I'm doing good with the toss. But for those who use nets I have 2 questions.

1. Am I supposed to keep the net off bottom or let it sink all the way down?

2. How many times do you cast in an area before moving on?

I haven’t seen him posted it but his name (let’s call him S) fought this fish for 30 min the least I can do is get in the water and help him pick it up. It’s the biggest catfish I’ve seen in person.

Is it true that there are aquarium hobbyists and collectors making these sorts of morphs "high demand" to add to private tanks, or is that just sensationalist TV fairytale?

Is it legal to own a piebald channel catfish if you pulled it on a hook and rod like any other licensed fisherman?

I know it's not as big as some of you post, but this is pretty darn fat for western new mexico. Caught at Bluewater lake state park. 4 feet off of the dam wall

I’m fishing for stocked channel catfish at Evelyn Hallman Pond in Tempe, Arizona, and looking for advice on getting my setup dialed in.

Here’s what I currently have:

• Rod: 7′ medium-power Ugly Stik Elite, model USESP702M
• Reel: Piscifun Carbon X 3000
• Line: 40-lb Reaction Tackle high-vis orange braid
• Hooks: Octopus circle hooks in a full range of sizes, including 5/0

I want to use a Carolina rig. I’ve seen TheFishinMagician2.0 recommend at least 5/0 hooks for this kind of fishing, so I’m considering starting there.

If this were your setup, how would you rig it? What sinker weight, leader material/strength/length, and hook size would you use? What bait would you start with, and how much would you put on the hook?

I know the 40-lb braid is heavier than necessary for stocked cats, but it’s already on the reel. Would you keep it and use a lighter leader, or is there a worthwhile reason to change it?

Especially interested in hearing from anyone fishing the Phoenix/Maricopa County urban ponds. What’s been working for you?

Been super busy with work. Glad to make some time for the creek here in MO.

Hey guys im hoping someone can help me out im from California and the bites have started to slow down at my local lakes and ponds and was wondering how i could efficiently target more catfish as the bites slow down and it gets colder all wisdom and knowledge is appreciated

Some goods ones from the last few months, plus a couple of bonus alligator gar pics. The first pic is one I caught on 10lb test

But, this is a little different. I don't have visuals. After all, catfish in a pan all look alike. I hope that isn't racist.

This type is by taste. She calls it "dirty catfish." The closest I've found, in restaurants, would be that served by Capt. D's. That's still not this taste. Red Lobster, I think, had it back when they sold catfish.

It's almost like it has sand in it. There is a definite grit in it. A couple have called them river catfish. The problem here is they don't all have that in them. They still have the soft, tender meat that falls apart, though.

Growing up, everyone cooked it like this. It's not spicy or anything. Very mild. Sadly, everyone is gone and if you didn't know how to cook it, you're in trouble. Same with the fried chicken.

I don't know if this will help or not, but it wasn't store bought seasoning. Like the old KFC, they had it on the shelves or with them. I've wondered if it might be Salt 'n Pepper style, but most those today don't even know that. But then, a lot of people today don't realize that catfish don't grow in stores.

Tulsa, ok

Found another Missouri River tank this morning, this time near Nebraska City! It was a little chilly, to say the least. This is my first year doing overnights on the river in the fall. It's a bit testing! I believe it dropped into the mid 40's, or so.

We've been skunked over the last few weeks, so it was pretty refreshing to find this 60 pounder. Was able to catch it on the inside of a broken jetty in about 6 feet of water in some structure. As usual, it ate a credit card sized piece of silver carp!

Thanks for looking!

We were bass fishing. Pleasant surprise lol sheer bliss. Looks like a Flathead to me.

My son just caught this 15.26LB on this chilly day in NJ.
