Through 13 games of 2026-27, Elias Pettersson has been stacking flashy highlights more and more frequently. He’s been one of the few bright spots on an otherwise miserable team, leading the Canucks with 13 points in 13 games, an 84-point pace that would represent a huge rebound from last season’s 51 points.

It raises a burning question: Is this the beginning of a greater resurgence, or just another brief stretch of promise that will eventually fizzle out?

He’s been atrocious so far. I really hope he turns it around because it would be so Canucks luck for our biggest trade chip to turn into a pumpkin when we desperately need assets for a rebuild.

I know we’re a bad team, but we were a bad team last year and he was a bright spot (on both sides of the puck).

First off I’ll say I’m totally pro rebuild and I have no issue with the performance of the team this year. However, I will say that with all the losses I have totally checked out in terms of listening to any of the podcasts surrounding the team, including D&D, H&B, and the many others that are out there. I would normally be listening voraciously but just can’t seem to be bothered given the situation. Again this isn’t a criticism of the direction of the team, or the podcasts for that matter. I’m curious if others are going through this. If so I imagine the ratings for a lot of these (many new) shows would be quite low.

They had every opportunity to break a team record of getting the longest losing streak and they were like... what? one... two.. games away from what would have been 11 game losing streak so they needed one more loss and they could have had a new record!

The rink looks 3/4 full at best. With the cap set to continue rising, how will the league handle what looks to be mostly a league-wide attendance problem? Does the league make up the difference in gate revenue with enormous tv deals? Or will the cap eventually have to come down again?

It was on r/hockey earlier, but it’s basically about the Rangers not being profitable if they don’t make the playoffs.

The Vancouver Canucks are riding a 10-game winless streak and are three more losses away from matching the longest such streak in franchise history, which was set way back in November and December of 1973.

No matter what stage of the team-building cycle you’re in, results this feckless will draw attention. This is the stage of a rebuilding effort when national pundits tend to come out of the woodwork to pontificate about an organization embarrassing itself, or being an unholy mess.

These are the moments that require a team’s leadership to steel itself. To be especially stubborn about the rebuilding course this franchise has belatedly charted, and disregard the outside noise.
