Can I do it?

I’ll try to be as direct as possible in explaining the situation. I needed to convert a 6-pin PCIe connector to an 8-pin PCIe connector. I already had all the components, but they were in two separate parts: an 8-pin female connector (of which I’m using only 6 pins, leaving two side pins disconnected) and an 8-pin male connector, which uses two ground (GND) pins derived from the incoming ground lines. Essentially, the cable needs to handle 150W without melting. Based on my online research, it’s theoretically possible, but in practice, the connection I’ve designed would likely result in high resistance and overheating—due to Joule’s law. So, I’m asking those who *actually* know—not just those who are guessing (I can guess just as well as anyone else)—is this feasible? Or is it better to just buy an adapter that uses continuous cables, without any soldered bridges in the middle?
