New Build noob!

New build or upgrade? New build!

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? No PC parts to reuse. I’ll buy my monitor separately later.

PC purpose? Primarily gaming, using discord, streaming, and sometimes all three at once. Also writing, editing videos, and internet browsing and whatnot.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? United States, DC Area, yes I’m near a Micro Center

Budget range? $2,000 ish US dollars

WiFi or wired connection? Wi-Fi and Ethernet support preferred.

Size/noise constraints? I’m happy to give the computer as much room as it needs to breathe, it rather it not be incredibly noisy but I know it sometimes can’t be avoided.

Color/lighting preferences? Any color is fine but I prefer it to be solid as opposed to patterned.

Any other specific needs? I’d love something with lots of port/plug in options (USB, HDMI, Audio Jack) I appreciate any and all help! Thank you!

Gaming PC Budget €1100, Italy

  • New build or upgrade?

New build

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Mostly gaming but I would love to learn game programming and modeling sometime next year. I would like my pc to run anything decently smoothly but I won't play games like Cyberpunk or Starfield very often, nor I need for games like those to run at max 120 FPS 1080p but on heavier games like tarkov i'm good with 60 fps stable. Just would like to be able to play them. I want to play cs2 stalker 2 tarkov ready or not arma reforger arena breakout .

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

Italy. Would prefer to buy the components on Amazon

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

I don't need it

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

Not higher than €1150

  • WiFi or wired connection?

Wi-Fi

  • Size/noise constraints?

Nope

  • Color/lighting preferences?

Any. No need for RGB I think.

  • Any other specific needs?

Upgradable PC that could possibly last a long time. I think ddr4 is what i need with this budget.

Hi Reddit, long time lurker first time poster.

Was hoping to get some advice on my next gaming PC build. Still rocking my motherboard/CPU setup from 2014 so definitely due for a new build.

Basically I'm trying to future proof everything except for the GPU. The current GPU I'm looking at seems like a great option to get me through the next couple years but sells out quick.

Was wondering if y'all had any advice or suggestions on where I could cut corners as far as prices but get the same kind of power and if there are any other good GPU options that won't break the bank. Trying to stay within the $500-$750 range for the GPU and looking to get 2x16gb DDR5 sticks that I can eventually get another set of.

Basically I'm trying to play all the games I wasn't able to play with my old build (looking at you RDR2) and be able to run GTA6 comfortably when it comes out.

Anyways I would love any advice you may have on what parts or power I should be looking for to get the most time out of the build. Definitely not looking to scrimp out on the CPU and ok with the GPU not being on the same level of the CPU for now. Is that a good idea? PCIe 4.0 vs 5.0 worth? Any places I could save some money on any parts that I have listed without sacrificing power?

Build 1:
Motherboard: MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard ($250~)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor ($440~)
GPU: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Video Card ($600~ just sold out *sad*)
RAM: Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 Memory ($490~)
Storage: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive ($440~)
Total: $2200~

Build 2:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE WIFI7 AM5 LGA 1718 ($250~)
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9900X - Ryzen 9 9000 Series Granite Ridge (Zen 5) 12-Core 4.4 GHz - Socket AM5 120W ($380~)
GPU: Sapphire PULSE Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB Video Card ($600~ just sold out *sad*)
RAM: Klevv Fit V 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) ($480~)
Storage: SAMSUNG SSD 9100 PRO 2TB, PCIe 5.0x4 M.2 2280 ($420~)
Total: $2130~

Budget is roughly $2250

Big thanks to anyone who takes time to look at this!

Stealth/Blackout PC request

First time building a PC, so I would like to know any newbie mistakes to watch out for both pre-purchase and during actual assembly! (And the worst possible outcomes and how to avoid them)

  • New build or upgrade?

New!

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

None

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming (not super intensive, probably the most intensive use cases are modded MC ~12GB and CK3)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

United States, not super near a Micro Center

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

1 monitor is fine! Not picky about resolution (720p/1080p?)

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

~$2000 is ideal but I'm willing to go to ~$2500

  • WiFi or wired connection?

Both would work, but whichever is cheaper! (I believe Wifi?) (I don't play online games often etc. so latency are not issues for me)

  • Size/noise constraints?

Ideally, quiet, but doesn't have to be silent.

  • Color/lighting preferences?

No RGB! Ideally, matte black/pure black case with no glass or anything.

  • Any other specific needs?

I was thinking about getting an AMD Ryzen 7 7800 for longevity, but I can be debated down / up accordingly, lol

Also, because of MC, ideally, at least 16GB of RAM

First gaming PC build

Hi everyone!
I'm planning to build my first gaming PC, and I'd appreciate some advice on my parts list. My total budget is around 1,300, including the monitor. I'm in Spain, and I'm happy to buy some components second-hand if it's worth it. I'll be buying the parts gradually rather than all at once.

My target parts list:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 — around €125–135
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550M DS3H — around €80–90
RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 — aiming for €200–250, depending on deals
Storage: Kingston NV3 1TB NVMe SSD — around €120–150
GPU:AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT 16GB — ideally second-hand, with a target budget of around €450–475
PSU: Good-quality 650W power supply — around €60–70
Case: Airflow-focused micro-ATX case — around €45–55
Monitor: MSI MAG 242F, 1080p, 200Hz — around €92 if I can find it at that price

These are target prices, not confirmed current deals, so I may need to adjust the list.

What I want to use it for:
- Play Online games (Cs2, Valorant, Fortnite...) at 1080p with good graphics quality.
- Other games where I can enjoy good graphics and visual quality.
- A build that makes sense for its price and can be upgraded later.

I already have an Ethernet connection, so I don't need Wi-Fi. I'll assemble the PC with my dad, and I'd prefer to avoid spending money on unnecessary extras.

My questions:
1. Is the Ryzen 5 5600 a good match for the RX 9060 XT 16GB?
2. Are there any compatibility issues or parts you'd change?
3. Is buying a used GPU a sensible idea for this budget?
4. Would you choose a different GPU or monitor to get better value?
5. Is there a better way to distribute the budget, considering current component prices in Spain?

Thanks for any advice! I'd rather get honest feedback now than buy parts that don't make sense together. New build or upgrade?

Putting a pre-built in an SFF Case

Hello! A few months ago I was able to get a Lenovo T Series Tower 7i with a RTX 5070 Ti for a really good deal, but the case it comes in is huge! I travel quite a bit so I won't be able to take it with me in it's current condition.

I've been looking into small form factor but this is my first time building a PC (obvs, I bought a pre-built). I just need to make sure that all my pieces fit into the new case before I decide on the which case to get. I have access to some of American and EU Amazon items as I'm currently located in Montenegro. Here are my current parts:

  1. New build or Upgrade?

- Upgrade

  1. Existing parts

GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB (SKU: 5V11K41562)

(Around 290mm (length) 111-120mm (width))

32GB DDR5-5600MT/S RAM 16x2 (UDIMM)

Samsung EVO 990 SSD 1 TB

Samsung EVO 990 SSD 2 TB

Intel I9 285k Ultra Processor

  1. PC Purpose

- 4k 60 FPS gaming and light video editing

  1. Country of purchase

Montenegro

- Local Vendors

Tehnomax

Multicom Megacentar

Megatek

- Online Vendors

Some options from American and EU Amazon

  1. Monitors needed?

- No

  1. Budget range?

- $1500

  1. WiFi or Wired?

- WiFi

  1. Size/Noise Constraints?

- Small Form Factor is preferable, no noise constraints

What I'll need:

Cooling system

850 Watt Power Supply

Small form factor case

Small form factor motherboard

My priority is to have the case be as small as possible while not making it so difficult to put together that a beginner might break something or mess something up.

Edit: For the GPU, it's a custom part for Lenovo Towers only available on the Lenovo replacement parts store as far as I can tell, so I dont think it has a name. I'll send a link just in case GPU

If it's ass, please just tell me.
-I work in a room with sunlight, so I’d like the monitor to have good brightness adjustment.
-32 GB of memory since I mainly do multitasking for work

Family Build

Been trying to wait out these prices but I think I am going to yield for the holidays. I have a 5/7yo who are fully in their Minecraft phase and would love to have another PC in the house to play together. So think lesser intense games like Minecraft, kid games on Xbox game pass, factorio (totally not indoctrinating my oldest), indie games, older games, not looking for GTA V ultra graphics but something that has potential for upgrades as they get into more complex games or maybe we play an MMO down the road for example.

  • New build or upgrade? New
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) I have spare externals so not worried about that.
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center? Micro center is a 2.5 hour drive if it's worth it. USA
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) N/A
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 1K ideally willing to budge
  • WiFi or wired connection? Wired
  • Size/noise constraints? Water cooling a plus
  • Color/lighting preferences? N/A
  • Any other specific needs? Room for future upgrades, just looking for a solid PC that doesn't need top of the line graphics.

Is the steam machine worth it?

Hi! Idk if im in the right place so do direct me elsewhere if that is the case! Basically trying to figure out what kind of gaming pc i should get, and the steam machine is on my radar. I'm not a huge gamer because of my current gaming laptop (acer nitro 5 i think) and i think a better computer would make me enjoy games a lot more. I play games like Resident evil, dead by daylight, Detroit become human, overwatch, Bayonetta, etc. and my current computer (after i've had it for a whileee) can barely run anything. So is the steam machine base model (512gb) worth it? Or is there something else i should look into? Im not interested in building a pc even if that is the cheaper and or better option, and i'd probably cap my costs at like $1,200. Thank you in advance!!

- New build or upgrade? - upgrade
- Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) - i have a asus monitor that works fine
- PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) gaming (dbh, dbd, resident evil, overwatch bayonetta, etc), also running adobe products
- Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) US and near micro center
- Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) - should be fine with the one i have, but suggestions would be nice !
Budget range? (Include tax considerations) - probably 1000-1200 ish
- WiFi or wired connection? Wifi (?)
- Size/noise constraints? None
- Color/lighting preferences? None
- Any other specific needs? None !

Thank you!!

Brand new pc in the UK

Hi guys, I’ve been in the console bubble forever, but have been wanting to enter the PC sphere. Was thinking of getting a steam machine, but was convinced to build a pc instead.

New build or upgrade?
- New

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
- Just a monitor and other accessories. No parts.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
- Mostly gaming and all-purpose use

Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
- UK, don’t think there’s a micro centre here.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
- Nope.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
- Around the steam machine’s price
- £1000-1500 (can go slightly higher)

WiFi or wired connection?
- WiFi

Size/noise constraints?
- Preferably silent. Live in a share house, so wouldn’t want to be blasting jet engine noises.
- Size? Would like to it to be more on the compact side - know a SSF isn’t possible, but something that isn’t huge.

Color/lighting preferences?
- No lights. Any colour.

Any other specific needs?
- Want it to last for at least 5+ years, and keep up with modern AAA. 1080p, 1440 is completely fine for me.

Thank you so much.

New build around 3k-3.5k

Hey guys, so my old RTX 2060S based PC is getting old, and I want to build something new and powerful to replace it, I guess around a RTX 5070Ti

  • New build or upgrade?
    • This is a new build
  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
    • Mostly gaming (GTA VI sooner, new Fable game, triple A games in general)
    • Computer engineering (Java development)
    • Photoshop for drawing
  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
    • France
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • No
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • Around 3k-3.5k big max
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Wifi (embedded in motherboard if possible, with bluetooth)
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • No constraint, triple fans GPU is a plus if it allows more performance over time
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • Either black or white, no need of RGB stuff.
  • Any other specific needs?
    • This should be built around a RTX 5070Ti, but i'll take recommandations
    • 16Go ram is a minimum, 32 should be ideal but within that price range, I don't know if it is possible yet. If not, a dual 8Go sticks is required, and will be upgraded later.

Thank you !

MicroCenter recomennded the following 3 prebuilts, was curious if y'all thought any of them were worth it, or would it be better to buy my own parts and have them assemble? I currently have a 2070 SUPER, Ryzen 7 3700X, 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1066MHz, B450 GAMING PRO CARBON MAX WIFI (MS-7B85) (AM4) but not sure if any of these parts are reusable in a new build.

PC for development, creative work as well as some gaming

My budget is around 1300 usd

Im a developer as well as graphic designer by profession, and blender is also sometimes part of my workflow. Photoshop, davinci, premiere, after effects shouldn’t be a problem. Coming from a macbook m2 air. Want something new that’ll last me a while. I also will be using it to stream or manage events irl multiple camera inputs etc.

I do want to play stuff like cyberpunk, resident evil single player stuff mostly and I’d like to
enjoy the graphics.

Will also be working with some AI stuff potentially so I suppose VRAM is important, but not a priority

I don’t mind my parts being used, I will be going to get a friend at the computer market to
build it for me if I give him the specs.

Sorry if my post is a jumbled mess, pretty new to this stuff. Thanks in advance.

• New build or upgrade? New
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) I have a samsung monitor that’s it
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) mentioned
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) Saudi Arabia, Riyadh
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) 3 probably, one in portrait two
in landscape. Refresh rate isn’t a factor, might have one monitor the main one with a high refresh rate
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 1300$ probably the maximum
• WiFi or wired connection? wifi but I can try wired not impossible
• Size/noise constraints? None
• Color/lighting preferences? No
• Any other specific needs? mentioned
