the breadboard Power rails are not continuous

wrong, the correct answer is some breadboard power rails are not continuous.

If the long color lines on the solderless breadboard don't have a white gap then it is continuous; otherwise if there a white gap in middle of the long color lines then it is not continous. Look at the color lines near the number 35 in the following images...

Just for completeness, now you need to knock that busted chip off the desk onto the carpet without noticing. Then step on it in your stocking feet an hour later, preferably when you are carrying a cup of coffee, glass of soda or a big pile of something that will scatter all over when dropped (an open box full of an assortment of ICs would be good) - don’t worry, it will certainly land with al, it’s sharp little feet pointing up (they always do). Oh, and of course you’ll find the second half the same way sometime later.

Then you’ll have had the complete experience! 😁

Close, but there is nothing like that feeling of walking around on your heel till you can set things down and unplug a DIP from the bottom of your foot! 😁😁

Today’s surface mount stuff is so boring - it just disappears into the carpet and stays there till you vacuum - what fun is that?

The worst thing I did was to pull a DIP out of a socket with your fingers. Somehow one or two leads ended up under my fingernail. Massive pain. I am not sure how it happened, but I vowed to never try it again after the 2nd time it happened.

What happened after the 3rd time?

I finally learned my lesson. The second time was the last time....

Rookie! That's how you scar your finger tips enough that it's almost impossible for it to happen again. Until the next time.

I use BB830 breadboards and im pretty sure the power rails are continuous. How did your chip break?

I think that's part of the fun anyway...or rather...I had fun!

It actually depends. If the coloured lines have a gap, that’s where there is a discontinuity. It should be continuous if there are no gaps though.

I think i have bad quality board coz my linee Is continuos but It exploxe

maybe it exploded for another reason?

It could also be but after this in addition to having replaced the chip I only corrected the grn and the 5v and it started working correctly again

The only thing I don't understand is why reading around I see that you have to ground the unused ports of the chip 40106 but if I do that it practically fries I threw away two of them before I figured it out.

Maybe you are reading the wrong pinout or determining pin 1 wrong? Often times you have to ground other input pins to pull them low or else they will be floating and could go high or low

Some breadboards have continuously power rails while others have a gap.

So I took some leftover CAT6 cable and fixed that issue.

Use DIL support, it can save your chip.

I don't understand why power rails would break a chip?
