Another deep dive from Taran! Yash inflates his game too much - and this is coming from someone who did like that he went against the vets - but he’s unfiltered and sounds exactly like his DRs lol.

Past Season Discussion Watching BB14 for the first time and

Poor Jodi! That was hard to watch, I can’t help but feel like there should have at LEAST been a regular vote between Dan’s team? Or he could save one member, by putting the other 2 up for eviction.

Past Season Discussion In defense of BB16

BB16 is a polarizing season. I know it's often cited on this sub as being boring, lacking drama (outside of the Bomb Squad), and having a predictable winner.

In BB16's defense, I think the cast and the overall vibes were so good.

I remember feeling completely deflated after BB15 - to the point where I even considered giving up on the show altogether. The complete vibe shift in BB16 was such a breath of fresh air, and it honestly renewed my love for Big Brother.

I watched the live feeds that summer and I remember the houseguests constantly coming up with creative ways to entertain themselves. Between the Zankie dance-offs and the saboteur antics, there was something fun happening each day.

I also absolutely adored Donny and Zach. I actually remember initially disliking Zach after the premiere because he talked about wanting to shake up the house and cause chaos. After the ugliness of BB15, the last thing I wanted was another ugly drama-filled season. Little did I know that Zach would end up being one of my favorite parts of BB16. Everything about him was so ridiculous and lighthearted, and I genuinely think his brand of chaos brought the season to life. To this day, he's still my favorite BB houseguest of all time.

Maybe it's partly nostalgia, since I had just started college that summer, but so many of the houseguests reminded me of my own friends. They were just a bunch of people being goofy, having fun, and enjoying each other's company.

Does anyone else remember BB16 this fondly?

Past Season Discussion BB16 Frankie Solo Win BoB

Watching BB16 for the first time. Frankie’s solo win that Caleb decided to sit out and out him in front of the whole house, was impressive. I don’t remember another time where someone threw a comp, by sitting out completely. And in this case their partner still came through and won it solo.

I know the situation was a little different since there were two HOHs that season, so the BoB comp was 2v2, but i just thought I’d bring it up and see what others thought about

Episode Spoilers BB 17--Who were you rooting for?

To me, besides the one person, this was a fun and likeable cast who I enjoyed more and more as the season progressed. Who were you rooting for to win and did it change later on?

Also, how about Steve's late night snack of 2 minute cooked rare pork chops?

General Discussion Totally random things that impacted the game

So ... the usual reasons for BB narratives is actually pretty typical. Someone is a threat, someone can't win competitions, a showmance is targeted, we see these narratives play out almost every season.

But has there ever been a totally random thing that impacted the game? This year, I feel like Barrett's music choice of Olivia Rodrigo actually impacted the game.

Everyone knows that YSPSFAGIL was the runaway hit album of the cast. The cast spent hours in the HoH room grooving to their favorite Olivia Rodrigo tracks and discussing which songs they liked best. Yash and Barrett would dance to the album, Melody and Drew started to see the album as a painful reminder about what was happening to them personally, Devens decided he was a Livvie, etc.

But most importantly, Barrett loved his own music choice TOO much. He literally holed up in his room all week listening to the album and ... forgetting to play Big Brother. He was completely blind to the flip happening downstairs.

Has there been another totally random thing that impacted the game in a big way?

General Discussion Heavy Crown Network Interview with Lala and Taylor - Recap

I really enjoyed Lala and Taylor’s interview on Royal Tea/the Heavy Crown Network with Tiffany, Hannah, Claire, and Big D. It was a great interview and well worth a watch HERE, but I wrote out a recap for anyone curious!

  • Taylor and Lala start off thanking Tiffany and Big D especially for reaching out to them post-season, saying it made a huge difference to them and has helped them adjust
  • Tiffany talks about how it’s a long road outside of the game and houseguests will be better off the sooner they’re able to process and move on from the past actions in the game. Has seen people from seasons that happened years ago (like season 15) be able to quote verbatim what was said to or about them. Very compassionate and lovely moment about how it’s easier said than done but it’s healing to keep moving forward
  • Lala has started to watch the episodes. Taylor doesn't plan to.
  • Taylor says the thing she was most surprised by was that she didn’t "diligently orchestrate specifically” the Lyric vote.

Microaggressions & Relationships After the Show

  • Taylor says there were things she felt in the house and then came out to realize she had been right. Says it was validating to see moments where houseguests also noticed during the game, and mentions a clip from early in the season where Devens was talking to Dee about how (I believe) Melody, Mallory, and Lyric don’t talk to Taylor to the point that it’s weird.
  • Hannah asked them to share, if they were comfortable, if there had been any apologies or productive conversations. Lala said that Drew texted her to apologize, and she asked him to call so they could talk about it properly. She made sure he knew what he was apologizing for and felt good about that conversation.
  • Lala talked about how people can tell you not to be friends with certain houseguests but it’s different when you know them in a way others don’t understand. She has had in-depth conversations with Angela and has accepted Angela’s apologies, she has also spoken to Kamu. Says she’s spoken to a lot of people but there’s also people she still feels she needs to have conversations with.
  • Taylor says Angela reached out and they had a conversation, though she gives no details. Drew also texted her and she didn’t reply, not because she doesn’t care but because she sees patterns with people after living with them and she feels Drew is someone who says what you want to hear. Acknowledges that he could just be that way with game talk, but isn’t sure Drew is ready to talk about it. Also feels like Drew was so adamant in the house about not liking them or wanting to get to know them. But she says it’s all love and always will be.
  • Taylor says Devens initially reached out to her on Instagram after seeing a Cameo video where she’d named some behavior from houseguests that had hurt her at the time or when seeing clips after. In the Cameo she had talked about seeing the clips of Devens saying he hated Taylor from the final 3 week, and he explained by saying it was from the night they were both drinking and she’d been intentionally ragebaiting him. She brought up him saying the same thing from the day before when they were sober, and he told her that as it was the final week, they were all sick of each other, and he was going crazy. But he apologized and they are now texting and cool with each other.
  • Taylor says that Dee hasn’t reached out but she doesn’t feel like Dee has to apologize, because anything she saw involving Dee was more just Dee being around other people making comments. Melody reached out to apologize (for calling Taylor boring in her exit press) and Taylor didn’t think she had anything to apologize for, either. Clarifies that she doesn’t think anyone has to reach out to apologize or do anything, but Angela/Drew/Devens/Melody were the four that have said something.
  • Taylor talks about discussions that even the live feeders don’t see because they cut, and how she talked about things in the DR that she knows we didn’t see because if the live feeds cut, why would they make the episodes?
  • Lala talks about being portrayed as the “angry black woman” just for telling people common sense things like to clean up after yourself.
  • Taylor talks about being damned if you do and damned if you don’t, because people would say Lala was too loud, Taylor was too quiet, etc. Taylor says that in real life she acts more like Lala, but she knew they wouldn’t make it if they were both like that in the house.

Casting

  • Hair talk! They talk about both coming in with blonde braids and how people might think they were mother/daughter. Taylor had her finale hair look when she first started casting. Lala also did her first interview with her natural hair and came in for the second interview with her blonde braids. They wanted her to go back but Lala said it cost $1500 so that wasn’t happening.
  • Taylor was an alternate and never told anyone. They believe she was an alternate for a South Asian/Indian woman. Rome was also an alternate (did I not know this?) and told everyone. She found out the day before they went into the house that she was going in.
  • Lala has loved Big Brother but never thought she could handle being on the show. Her daughter met a woman at a party, ran into her the next day at a coffee shop, and it turns out the woman worked in casting for Big Brother, which led to her going through casting and getting on the show.

Yash and Taylor as a Duo

  • They talk about Yash’s latest interview where he spoke negatively about Taylor’s game. Taylor is still cool with him and they have texted and called recently. She has no problem with him voting for Devens or that he would’ve voted for Drew over her, and says she also would’ve voted for Devens if she were in jury. She takes issue with the way Yash spoke about her and her game and how she would never do that to Lala, for example. He was very dismissive and gave her no credit. She feels he should know better because Yash and Taylor had many strategic conversations.
  • Lala says she loves Yash but was also really surprised by his attitude about Taylor’s game in the jury house. She talks about speaking at the roundtable to defend Taylor and her game, and says she feels Yash should have voted for Taylor. Also brings up the fact that people said Taylor had “winner energy” and those people should've voted for her too. They joke about how bad accepting the bribe was.
  • Claire says her interpretation with Yash and Taylor as a duo was that Taylor was the strategist and Yash the social player. Taylor describes it as having to “catch Yash before he gets to the finish line with his thoughts” because he’s extremely stubborn. Taylor’s method was to ask Yash to explain his thought process and tell her “why”, and then after explain her own thoughts.

Misc. Game Talk

  • They talk about Lala’s wall comp win. Lala was prepping for the endurance comps and so excited for the wall comp. Angela didn’t think the wall was going to happen that soon with that many people, but Lala just had a feeling in her gut and quickly ran to cut off her nails. She had broken her toe the week before and she took the tape off. She talked about peeing on the wall when there were four of them left up there. When it was down to her and Kamu and she felt like she was about to drop, Kamu seemed totally ready to go longer. She was about to give up (Taylor was screaming at her not to) but just tried to last one more minute, and that’s when Kamu slipped. Says she asked Kamu if he gave the win to her and he said no, he really slipped.
  • Lala’s daughter was angry at Taylor while they were in the house, and Lala had to explain that it’s not the same when you’re not in the house. Almost everything Taylor said about Lala she also said right to Lala’s face and they totally understood their dynamic. There was a day where they had to pretend they weren’t friends for game reasons and it hurt so badly they cried in each other’s arms so they gave it up
  • They think the game would be totally different without the icons and can’t even predict how it would go or who might be at the end, but wish it had been an all-newbies season
  • They are both really grateful for the live feeds because of what is different or left out of the edited episodes. Taylor also talks about having to not take the game too seriously for your mental health and that she thinks remembering that helped her get to the end

Past Season Discussion On this day 3 years ago, BB25 was still airing. It was day 86 out of 100

The second double eviction of the season took place on this day. Blue was evicted, followed by America, leaving outsiders Cirie and Felicia in the house against the alliance of Jag, Matt and Bowie Jane. Cirie and Felicia were promptly sent out the door soon after and Jag would go on to win the game November 9

Was randomly thinking about the fact there were people still in the house during Halloween this season. BB25 is probably the worst season of the new era and Zombie Week is one of the worst twists of all time. Every vote this season was unanimous or near unanimous and one of Jag, Matt or Bowie Jane won the last 13 competitions. It also had the first forced removal of a player from the game for breaking the rules in 11 years with Luke

Looking at it now, the following season BB26 kind of felt like a soft reset, with the introduction of the Block Buster (under a different name), and was a lot better received

Did anyone enjoy this BB25? Does it have any redeemable qualities? Is there anyone you'd want to see play again?

General Discussion Why doesn’t Big brother bring back team America / americas player?

Just doesn’t make sense that they introduce new (and sometimes terrible) twists into the newer seasons. But America’s player was an awesome twist

And team America was an upgrade. Why not bring that back???

Wild Speculation What could have been…..

Big Brother mods, please forgive me but I’m going to talk a little bit about Survivor, but it’s mainly about a Big Brother winner, Hayden.

There is all this talk about Devens winning Big Brother 28 coming from Survivor. A lot of Big Brother alumni really gave Dee and him a hard time, no one wanted to see him win. But, that same thing did not happen to Big Brother 12 winner Hayden, who damn near pulled off the double win.

Hayden’s social game carried him really far in Survivor: Blood vs Water, but he came SO CLOSE to pulling a game changing move which in my opinion would have won him the game and gave him an undefeated streak, unlike Devens who came in from Survivor having lost twice. Up until Tribal Council, Hayden was going home. But he did not give up, he convinced Ciera to come over to his side to even the numbers AT TRIBAL COUNCIL! Him doing that saved his game in that moment because the votes were deadlocked and he was automatically safe and 3 others had to draw rocks. If Tyson drew the white rock instead of Katie, Hayden would have 95% won Survivor: Blood vs Water.

Knowing that, no Survivor alum came after Hayden. No one dogged Hayden (other than Gervease who was pissed Hayden spoiled his plan) so why did the Big Brother alum do it to Devens, especially after he won. Devens didn’t win Survivor, so he isn’t a double winner, Hayden would have been. He would have won Big Brother, damn near made one of the biggest moves in HISTORY and could have won and been like “Pfftt piece of cake” Just sharing some thoughts on this because it’s always crazy me to that Hayden was a rock a way from likely winning the season and being a double winner.

Past Season Discussion BB27 // F4: Morgan’s Blindspot

Famously Steve was Vanessa’s one blind spot which cost her in the end.

Sure hindsight is 20/20; but Morgan should have evicted Ashley because SHE KNEW Ava was not a comp threat, let alone one that could win 3 comps. Sure Ashley hadn’t won any comps but there was always a risk. Ava is easy to influence so even if she wins I think based on how much she hated Vinny; she could’ve convinced Morgan.

Idk. Props to Ashley for convincing Morgan that both Vinny and Morgan would beat Ashley in either F2 combo. I’m new to bb so idk the drama but Ashley is an impressive social player, would love to see her on traitors

The tricky part is Vinny taking Morgan over someone like Ava, though I think Ava probably STILL wins because of how terrible his jury management was lol

Past Season Discussion First time watching BB 3

I’m about halfway through the season on week 5 where Josh and Roddy are on the block.
I have never seen a person act more dramatic being on the block than Josh 😭 it’s hilarious. Every week he’s expecting to go on the block and the second time he is he doesn’t know how to act it’s so funny. But I will not be sad to see him go, he needed to go since Week 1.
Watching earlier seasons its so interesting to see players logic in noms and the use of the silver POV and it had way more personal aspects with a bit of strategy compared to modern seasons.

Player Discussion BB28 Final 6

Was Yash getting evicted at Final 6 no matter what? We obviously know he gets evicted sitting next to Dee, Drew, or Taylor but sitting next to Devens? I think Drew would still go for Yash because he’s his biggest competition.

General Discussion Second Chance Ballot

Everyone has their idea of what would be a great cast for a second chance season. How about we expand that. You can put one player who has never won and never played more than once, from seasons 2-28 on the ballot for the fans to vote for. Who would you put on the ballot? In the end, I really think the fans should decide much like they did in Survivor. Here is mine, tell me what you think, feel free to be brutal.

General Discussion Drew and Rome's impromptu IG live

So Drew first went on tiktok live to unbox, but dipped out after 10 min bc people kept spamming the chat with the "We Are Charlie Kirk" song over and over and he couldn't concentrate. He was getting "overstimulated."

So then he went on insta live, and was unboxing stuff and it was what you'd expect (although he did say that he doesn't talk to Barrett much, although he loves him), until Rome showed up in the chat. And then the deep dive truly began, because Rome just asked all the hard-hitting questions and spilled all the tea.

ETA links: Rome and Drew's deep dive

Drew and JT's tiktok live

A few things we learned:

  1. Production put Rome and Lyric up to making the "thinking of potentially moving in together" announcement. They wanted Rome to propose, and he was like "um no." So he made up the "announcement" on the spot. He said it was awkward bc Drew was crying so he didn't know what to say so he came up with that BS announcement.
  2. Rome claims he clocked Melodrew right away. "What did you clock? We were just friends." Rome: "My dick." Hahaha. Asked whether the Ramble thing was a hard or soft launch. Rome is very to the point.
  3. Rome wanted to talk about the Kamu video. Drew got a little wary, said he hasn't seen the Kamu video and doesn't want to. Gave Rome a little look like "let's not talk about this."
  4. Rome said people were hating on him for his intro video with the alpha and beta stuff.
  5. Rome and Drew both said the isolation of being on the block can really do a number on you. Drew said that whenever he was nominated, everyone avoided him like the plague except for Melody. Talked about how once Drew was talking to Dee in the HoH room and Angela and Devens were in the room and literally hiding from him.
  6. They talked about how hot the cast was. Drew: "I went in the house and thought fuck, I'm the ugly guy." LOL. They talked about how awful Drew's cast pic was, that he looked like he was "melting." Drew has a weird theory that they picked the headshot to make him look more like Eric Stein? Idgi but ...
  7. Talked about Chuk's unintentional humor. Rome did a great impression of Chuk crying "Why the fuck is Melody here?'
  8. Drew says that he wants to go on Survivor first rather than the Challenge because no one goes on Challenge and then Survivor but many people go on Survivor then Challenge, kind of confirming that Challenge is the last resort for reality tv stars.
  9. Drew's sister is a Salina fan and gave Drew shit for messing up Jason's game. Drew says at the end of the season Jason went up to him and said he'd talked tons of crap about him on twitter, and Drew said he didn't care. Both Drew and Rome speak very fondly about Jason's drag career. "I am Diva." "Slay bitch, hit that work."
  10. Talked a bunch about the icons and how they never trusted Drew. Rome: "They fucking hated you. The most toxic alliance." Drew: "That wasn't even an alliance. I was in an alliance, and they were like Drew needs to die." Drew said he was the most loyal person, and Rome says "to the wrong people." Heh. Drew sounds more resentful of the icons in this live than he does in other interviews.
  11. Then Drew's friend JT pulled up, and they were talking about Barrett's comic again. JT said he saw Barrett fuck over Drew all summer and still thinks the comic went too far.
  12. Then Rome had to dip, and Drew and JT went on tiktok live and were practically dying at all the galaxies. They said they didn't want to work, just wanted to sit around getting galaxies and listen to "We Are Charlie Kirk" (the song they kept sending over).
  13. Drew and JT told everyone to flood Melody's IG with galaxy emojis and to "pray for Melodrew, bc it's not looking good." Sarcastic stoner humor but both of them started laughing so ... People will freak out but this is like the icons never knowing when Drew was serious or joking.
  14. Drew said if he got HoH during Coingate. JT said "You were going to put up kamu, chuk, and haley" [which I don't think we knew? did he tell that to JT later? was that an assumption?] and Drew said he thinks it was just "Yeah, I'm gonna put you guys up."
  15. JT and Drew then went to InNOut.

Player Discussion Dee and Vanessa … anyone else??

Thumbnail

I’ve seen 17-18,20,28 and I’m absolutely enamored by how these two played. So fucking dominant. I mean hell Dee is known as the most dominant new era survivor winner and made jury on 50

The way Dee got the house to keep her over ANGELA???? And Vanessa staying over Shelli… and then the more random moves like convincing Julia to battle Austin in that one comp or Dee coming up with the mechanics of the bb bribe. And what I love about these women is that they don’t steam roll without the work, they had obvious targets but somehow made F3/4. Sorry but this is so much more impressive to me than Derricks way of playing. Man I love these women.

Past Season Discussion Analysis of Will Kirby’s game from BB2

Analysis of Will Kirby’s game BB2

Dr. Will is remembered as this “Master manipulator puppet master” that he portrayed himself to be. But the reality is actually a lot more impressive and a lot more entertaining to watch.

Dr. Will was never a puppet master. The only person whose game he had control over, was Shannon’s and that’s because she had feelings for him.

This isn’t a dig at Dr. Will, dude is to this date; my favorite player to play the game.

But he actually had very little control over people and their emotions.

His initial strategy was to implement this idea of control in that “if I’m the head of a cool kids club like alliance, openly. Everyone else is going to want to be apart of it.” This ended up being one of the worst strategic moves of the season, he and boogie were two of the most hated and seen as arrogant snobby players who thought of themselves as better than everyone else, Justin probably would’ve been included if he didn’t do what he did.

In fact, his strategy was so bad in the beginning, that he kept bragging to people about how good of a player he was at this game that people immediately turned on chill town and that cliquey alliance, and they got absolutely smoked for the first 4 weeks.

What he did in this time, for about one week, he was apologizing for his behavior, Nicole called him out on it saying he sounded “disingenuous” and politely told him that she wasn’t buying it. And this is where the game critically changed. And I don’t think any other player in the history of big brother played the game in the way Dr. Will did.

Everybody feels innately terrified of being socially ousted or ostracized. It’s a real fear and it’s rational to feel that way. Because when you’re casted out, you feel like nobody likes you, even if you’re not being bullied, you can feel it in the way people treat you and speak to you, that they see you as lesser, they see you as weak and not liked by anyone but they still tolerate you.

Will theorized this, and he theorized this on the spot: instead of trying to apologize and take back his mistakes. He would own it 100%, and double down on the label people perceive him as, and instead of doing anything dangerous, he would tell people that he isn’t a good person and because of that reason, nobody will ever vote for him if he makes it to the final two, and for that reason, he will also be the person most likely to be thrown on the block in the following week, with the highest chances of being sent home once he touches the block.

He utilized this theory like an ultimatum to home or die trying method and it worked beautifully.

His very first one to one: he goes to Shannon, they both are emotional about one of them going home, she offers the idea about going home for him and he latches on that and plants the idea that of the two of them he’s more likely to make it further into the game. So she sacrifices her own game. Starts being nasty and rude on purpose to kent and hardy specifically and to other houseguests she’s lively with a mild attitude. She goes home.

The second one on one: Kent wins HoH. Will is an obvious nominee. He’s the final remaining member of the very cliquey “chill town” alliance. Everyone thinks Will is going to be nominated and sent packing. Will goes to Kent and tells Kent “everyone here hates me, you know. It’s like last of the mohicans, if you put me up, easily im going home” they both laugh about it and Will’s tone of voice is in “charm” mode. Bro talks to kent and theorizes “it may be better for you to keep me in the house this week. Because next week, we don’t know who wins HoH and there’s no target that everyone agrees on to be going home, it could be anybody, it could be you.” Kent agrees with him and says “so, you’re telling me this because you think if i dont nominate you, you’ll be nominated next week?” Will says “absolutely and I’ll likely go home. Im just trying to buy myself another week here. And if i win HoH i won’t put you up”

Kent agrees to this and doesnt nominate Will.

Nicole, Bunky, Hardy and Monica all instantly perceive Will as an even bigger threat now because he surely said something to convince Kent not to nominate him.

The very next one on one is probably hands down his strongest social move and it gets overlooked: his one on one with nicole.

She says to him “I don’t know what it is, you don’t like me for whatever reason and I don’t know what I did to make you feel that way but I’d like to know why you feel that way” and in a very innocent tone he says “not at all. If I did anything that made you feel that way, it wasn’t my intention at all”

He very strongly builds this innocent persona and very much so later in the night he gently jabs at her ego. Seeing if he can do so and get away with it.

It creates this unique hate love dynamic and it slowly gets stronger and stronger. He keeps making her laugh and then he annoys her. Then he apologizes and does it again and later in the game he starts saying messed up stuff to her because he knows the pattern is too strong now for anything to change. This is ELITE. Because it subconsciously influenced how she made decisions around Will and what she said to OTHER houseguests and how she targeted other houseguests even if she had him in mind too.
The stuff he would later say is stuff like “I mean, I think you’re a b!tch and I don’t get along with you but you’re not the lowest of the low.” And then he won’t apologize but he’ll make her laugh and then apologize.

Here’s the crazy part: she starts seeing the dynamic and the pattern that he developed with her yet NOTHING CHANGES. Episode after episode she starts calling it out and he denies denies denies. Then he’s honest about other stuff. He tells her “I feel it is best for me to be at the forefront of other people’s minds and for me, it’s easier to be at the forefront as a bad person than as a good person” and she gets upset with him, tells him that’s a stupid way of thinking and morally wrong. And he shrugs gets a bit embarrassed and then smirks at the camera. This dynamic with Nicole carries the game hard

But the dynamic with the audience is what won him the game.

The entirety of big brother 2 feels like a “dr will tv show” he knows how to be funny, how to entertain through talking and how to build a narrative that makes Nicole (probably the best player in the season) look like one of the weakest and most manipulative players even when she’s not. That takes skill. Lots and lots of high social EQ skill.

Him talking his way out of being evicted week after week is one caveat. Him coming up with something new every week. Such as a possible alliance existing. Or bunky building momentum by winning challenges. Or throwing the final HoH because power duo is in the house and “you and me gotta team up against them Monica. But I’m not going to say this to you, I want you to think it yourself”. Dude’s social skills and strategic thinking are unparalleled.

He was never a puppet master. Instead he understood perspective is important, more important than anything else in the game itself and took advantage of it in the best way possible.
