I love the choice of colors in this scene (S3 E10)

Post image
• Upvotes

Bolsa wears a blue shirt with a nice grey suit, pacific colors to symbolize that he wants to settle the situation with calm and order without fighting.

Hector, on the other hand, he's wearing a red shirt with a dark suit, hostile color to symbolize his usual anger, aggression and stubbornness, because he always wants things done in his way no matter what, and even one little no will make him instantly furious.

Bravo Vince

Am I the only one who sees a biblical martyr/Christ motif in Nacho’s arc? Spoiler

Post image
• Upvotes

I know I’m late to the party, but I just finished Rock and Hard Place, and Nacho was my favorite character on the show. What that man went through is something you wouldn’t wish on anyone.

It got me looking for a deeper meaning in all of it, especially after the oil tanker scene, which plays like a twisted, dark baptism. Then there’s how his story ends: he suffers for his own sins (and other people’s sins), and his final scene is basically a confession. The biblical echoes are all over his arc.

You also can’t ignore that everything Nacho does, he does for his father, who here is the Father. He’s a man who always did the right thing and wanted his son to do the same, strict but also merciful. In the end, Nacho gives everything for him and sacrifices himself.

So here’s how I’d sum it up. Nacho is a sinner who has committed plenty of sins. He goes through truly inhuman trials: he’s shot, he’s beaten before he dies, and even the road there is an ordeal. He pays the full price, and by the end he becomes a martyr in the most literal sense.

Finished watching bcs for the first time!

• Upvotes

I just wanna say WHAT.AN.INCREDIBLE.SERIES. Idk what took me so long to watch it since i watched bb a long time ago and started bcs but after an episode or two, thought it was too slow /boring for me. I was sooo wronggg. I started it again like 2 weeks ago and it has easily become the best series for me. I understand why people say its better than bb and I completely agree , i was completely hooked lol. Such well written characters especially mike and lalo

Personally my top 5 episodes have to be
1)chicanery (it has to be)
2)Five-O ( loved loved mike’s acting and since it was in season one , this was the episode which got me all hooked , i liked it better than plan and execution)
3) plan and execution(the ending was incredible )
4)lantern (hated chuck so yeahh)
5)pimento
HM- bagman , again a great episode

Also #fuckchuck

Salamanca VS Cartel Spoiler

Would Lalo be able to replace Eladio if he went up against him, considering the fact that the Salamancas would support him and Gus shook hands with him?

Do personalities like Jimmy/Saul really exist?

Post image

It's probably a stupid question, but I had never really appreciated Jimmy's charisma until now. I'm doing a rewatch, and every time he says something iconic or makes a clever joke I'm genuinely impressed. For example, in S2 when Mike gets beaten up by Tuco and Jimmy sees him in the parking lot, asks what happened, and then comes up with the Fight Club comment, I couldn't stop thinking "How in the world does he come up with that on the spot?"
Maybe it's because I'm an introvert that I find this kind of charisma so impressive, but I was wondering: are there really people who are this quick and charismatic in real life, or is it exaggerated? Since the show does tend to exaggerate things a bit in general.

How could Lalos story have ended better ?

After 3 or 4 run throughs of BCS and god knows how many of BB, am definitely of the opinion that BCS is the better show. Everyone involved simply improved, and the show is so slick and well produced in every sense.

My only gripe on my most recent run through is how they dealt with the culmination of Lalo and Gus' storyline. Nacho's storyline ended sort of passably, given the plot restraints, but I always feel like Gus shooting Lalo didn't do either character justice.

I feel like Gus would have had some master plan or trap that Lalo walked into - the blind luck of shooting Lalo in the dark seems very out of character.

Any fan theories on how they could have written that differently?

Sorry if this is a frequent post on here, I'm new to the sub .

When Marion finds out who Gene is

Ok hear me out, random realisation during the series finale over the scene where Marion gets suspicious of Gene on the phone while he's telling her Jeff has been arrested. He starts mentioning Albuquerque law... Now sure, it makes sense that this sets off alarm bells for Marion who is quite astute. But I think the final breaking point for her is caused by him saying "Albuquerque" in an energetic, heated way, you know, the way Saul used to say it in his TV ads, "I'll fight for you, Albuquerque!".

I think, in addition to the intellectual case she's been working on in the background, her suspicion seeing Gene in the garage from her bedroom window and now him having detailed knowledge of the legal system in Albuquerque, the auditory cue jogged her distant memory of being exposed to those ads.

SPOILER!!!! Fourth season Spoiler

SPOILER!!!!!

Second episode of the fourth season.

Why does Kim get so fiercely angry with Howard at the end of the episode—accusing him of trying to offload his guilt onto Jimmy?

In reality, Howard took the blame for Chuck’s suicide, given that he was the one who wanted to fire him.

I honestly don’t understand Kim’s outburst, nor Jimmy’s response.

Recently started Better Call Saul 12 years after finishing Breaking Bad and here are my thoughts

I started watching BCS 2 weeks ago after telling myself I'd watch it for over a decade and firstly, it's gone alot better than I thought I'd be. That pilot was probably my favourite pilot I've ever seen aside from Prison Break off the top of my head.

I'm currently on S3 E8 as I've been binging it alot, Saul was always my fav character in BB well before this spinoff was even created so seeing him as a main character is even better to me than Walt and how they go about writing this show is very different than BB is a great way.

So far there's been no crazy action, no big character deaths, but I can say I like it better than Breaking Bad already, not saying it IS better, just that I'm more interested in the day to day life of Jimmy more than I was the drug drama with Walt.. but both are great.

My one BIG gripe with this show that has been bugging me alot is Mike. Mike is a perfect example of how easily you can go from liking a character to disliking them (or vice versa) simply by how they are placed in a show.

Mike is a simple character, an extremely simple character, and his scenes worked in BB because he wasn't remotely close to a main character almost all his scenes weren't from his perspective but from either Jesse's, Walt's, or sometimes even Gus' and toward the end even Hank.

And even the scenes where he was the focus were very brief and concise and to the point.

Him being THIS MUCH of a focus on BCS was cool until about halfway through season 1, then I found its just the same stuff over and over again, Mike is always doing 1 of 3 things... he's either camping out in his car watching someone, or he's in the desert or somewhere odd doing/planning something odd that we can more context to later on (like the spikey water hose, or the shoes on the power line) or he's being a good grampa... 2 of these types of scenes involve no dialogue and no other person and all 3 of these scenes become extremely repetitive after a while.

I'm halfway through s3 and he's still doing the exact same stuff I just don't get how this is supposed to be interesting for 6 seasons straight but maybe its just me.

Aside from that, I already think Nacho has done enough to be one of the best character in the franchise, because he's not overly shown like Mike so everytime he's on screen its something new and pushes the plot and he's also very unpredictable because clearly he's loyal to no one but himself and his father and he's a "bad guy" with some honorable traits.. a fresh perspective from BB villains.

Chuck vs Jimmy, Howard, and Kim are all aspects of this show that I think are part of why I like it more than Breaking Bad along with obviously the story of Jimmy and seeing how he hustles his way into where he was at the start of Breaking Bad.

Looking forward to finshing this show probably in the next 2 weeks

Fun and Games Spoiler

Random rewatch noticings, part 162... Don Eladio summons Gus to the hacienda to challenge him with Hector's statement. He says when he looked in Gus's eyes he saw hatred, then warns him that a little bit of hatred is OK, as long as he remembers who's boss.

Straight away we get a scene with Gus and Mike, where the latter clearly wants everything to settle down after all the mayhem of Lalo's return, Howard's death, etc. But Gus tells him to start finding a new construction crew straight away. As Mike turns to walk away, the two share a look - and it seems to me that this is the same as the look between Gus and Eladio, only with the tables turned. A little bit of hatred, but remember who's boss.

Mike is initially reluctant to work with Gus because to him he's no different to the Salamancas - he hasn't threatened Mike's family, but he's cut from the same cloth, harms innocent people, etc. Eventually, the money (and the fact Mike is focused on the construction work) wins him over. But then Mike has to kill his friend Werner because of Gus and he realises he too is the bad guy. So I'm sure there is a little bit of hatred there too.

Both men are forced to work for someone they consider repulsive, because it's the only choice they have - both consider themselves a cut above the guy they're working for, but both know deep down they are not.

"At our dad's funeral, no one cried harder than Jimmy"

What do you think Chuck really meant by this line? Did his strong resentment of his brother mean that even in a cataclysmic family moment, one in which Jimmy was grieving, he could only interpret his brother's raw humanity with a malicious edge?

To me it paints a picture of Jimmy having a lot of love for his father, despite their differences.

A theory about Lydia

We don't know much about Lydia, other than that she is so uptight she probably has a woodchipper for a coochie, but it is notable that she is VERY concerned about her daughter "finding her" instead of thinking she abandoned her, and I seem to recall her saying something that sounded like she was very afraid of her daughter going to a foster home/orphanage. Those two fears have led some to speculate that Lydia was abandoned as a child.

Well, the other night I was watching clips of the show on Youtube, like you do, and I noticed something I never had before - the statue on Lydia's desk.

This is a miniature copy of Edgar Degas' "Little Dancer, Aged 14" - a sculpture depicting a young ballerina, but there's more to it than meets the eye.

While nowadays we think of ballet as a hobby for girls from rich or middle-class families, in the 1880s when it was originally made, no respectable girl or woman would perform on stage in any capacity, and dancers, singers, and actresses were usually from poor backgrounds. The particular ballerina who modeled for "Little Dancer" was impoverished, her father had died and her mother was a washer woman with three daughters to feed, all three of whom became ballet "rats" - low ranking, young apprentices - to earn income for the family, and maybe eventually rise to become famous ballerinas, or at least become the mistress of a rich man (if they didn't fall in to straight-up prostitution first)

Anyways, I think the art department knew the story behind the "Little Dancer" and deliberately included it as a subtle hint that Lydia was at some point abandoned/orphaned, spent some time in an "apprenticeship", climbed the ranks to her current position, and maybe became Peter Schuler's mistress somewhere along the way.

What if Kim Wexler became the Saul Goodman (read for more details want to keep it spoiler free) Spoiler

What if in Season 6 after Howard died, the roles were swapped. Kim had little emotion and Jimmy felt terrible and felt that Chuck was right. What if he broke up with Kim, and Kim embraced her "Giselle" persona. How would this affect the overall universe timeline?

Who else wishes we had more scenes in this era?

Post image

I know it’s unneeded because we know what happens after this point, but an episode or two of showing Saul as we knew him just before the events of breaking bad would’ve been amazing as he was my favourite BB character. We got flashbacks during the ‘epilogue’ of season 6 but wish we could’ve had more. Anyone else feel the same?

BCS Emmy Robbery is Crazy

Bob getting nominated 6 times and missing out everytime. Him not winning for saul gone in his final chance is a joke. Same for rhea seehorn who didn't get an emmy for waterworks. Atleast she got one for pluribus. jonathan Banks didn't get one for Five-O either.

Also Michael McKean didn't even get nominated for Chicanery. WHAT A SICK JOKE!!
