Пытанне / Question Need Help - MBBS in Belarus

Hello everyone,

I am a 27-year-old student from Sri Lanka with a dream of becoming a doctor. I have the opportunity to pursue my MBBS at Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU), Belarus, but financial difficulties are making it challenging to take this important step. Becoming a doctor has always been my dream, not only to earn a medical degree but also to help people in need and make a meaningful difference through medical care.

I am reaching out to ask for guidance and support. If you know of any scholarships, grants, sponsorships, charitable organisations, or individuals who support aspiring medical students, I would be truly grateful for your help.
Sometimes, all a dream needs is a little support and an opportunity to begin. Even sharing this post or connecting me with the right person could change my future.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read and share my story. With gratitude,
A future medical student from Sri Lanka

Іншае / Other Avoid Belarus if you have Ukranian stamps

Visited as an eu citizen with some ukranian stamps, was held for 10 hours in detention and quizzed about every stance I have and grilled about going to Ukraine. They also made me give them my phone and open my whatsapp and telegram to see what/ who i medsage to. After that they put me in a small room for 3 hours and told me to “wait” finally they xrayes my whole car as a final punishment and let me cross. Total drama over nothing, not even russians care this much

Hi, so I was checking on Belarusian emigratory state anthem, and saw this btfully made video on YouTube ( https://youtu.be/evoKG8LsjhU?si=SnvHtmle8fWsDBJm ), great on musical level and with great images from Vilnius (I was proud to see polish soldiers beside lithuanian ones and beside Belarusians), and I saw this blue cross symbol in second row on flag. What’s it’s meaning?

A Russian comes to a gas station and says he wants to fill up the tank. The casher says:
- 2000 rubles.
- What?! It was 1000 yesterday.
- 1000 for gasoline and 1000 for building our great Empire.
The Russian hands with pride 2000 rubles. The casher gives him 1000 rubles and says:
- Here you are. It's your change. We have no gasoline.

As you may know, the death penalty is still in use in Belarus. Read my piece about how I got acquainted with a guy who had been sentenced to death for a double murder.

Культура / Culture Contemporary literature in Belarusian?

How is contemporary literature in Belarusian? Are the any interesting authors? What did you read last time?

Perhaps you write something in Belarusian yourself? Short stories, novels, poems? If not you, perhaps some of your friends of family?

The place is infested with low-ballers and borderline scum resellers. Manners meter- sub zero. What happened to all those 'well-mannered' and 'polite' Belarusians?

Пытанне / Question Dinamo Minsk (KHL) supporters

Hi from the UK

As an ice hockey fan, and a fan of our domestic EIHL, I’d been watching the NHL and keeping an eye on the KHL for years. For no particular reason I’d gravitated towards Minsk as a team to support. But I’m curious if, for Belarusians, being a Minsk fan has political connotations? I’d never really known about or considered the behind the scenes goings-on for the team until seeing things online in recent years. I guess I’d naïvely assumed there’d be people rooting for KHL teams from outside of Russia (Minsk, Shanghai, Astana, and formerly Donetsk, Prague, Zagreb, Bratislava, Helsinki, Riga) as a kind of contrarian move, but I guess the politics with ownership and such complicates that a lot more than someone from Western Europe would typically consider?

Question Outside of Minsk, which city would you recommend for tourist to live for some weeks?

Палітыка / Politics Why do some people who are most likely not in Belarus lie about life there? And engage in outright propaganda?

Post image

I live in Minsk and I’m Belarusian — specifically, the kind of Belarusian who lives in Belarus and knows Belarus. And, like most Belarusians, I don’t use this social platform because it’s in English, and most Belarusians use Russian‑language platforms for communication. Of course, there’s a small part of Belarusians who speak English and might be present here. And now I’ve come across outright lies that are broadcast to the whole world — and it seems like reverse propaganda, and the Belarusians who are here are allowing it to happen. I came across a photo labeled “Average day in Grodno,” showing law enforcement and security forces at work. The description doesn’t provide any context or explanation, and the photo suggests to me that this happens EVERY day, that this is just a regular occurrence. I started looking for this photo; what particularly bothered me was the smoke from the pyrotechnics, and I know for sure that smoke‑based means aren’t used for arrests and are usually used very rarely — once every five years or during exercises. Google told me that this photo was from an exercise, which confirmed my suspicions. But why does the author deliberately lie and claim that this happens every day? Why is he trying to instill this idea in the minds of foreigners? After all, it’s outright falsehood and propaganda aimed at discrediting the country. And most likely, in the comments, I’ll now get some response about propaganda and state‑sponsored fake news, defending those who openly created this fake news themselves and are spreading the opposite propaganda while pretending to be neutral. And what’s sad is that the people who are constantly here don’t have critical thinking skills and they silently, with approval, consume this opposite propaganda, demonizing the country and misleading the Western community. But if you left Belarus, and unlike in Ukraine, the government allowed you to leave, you’re not being held against your will, you’re not being beaten in the street, you’re not being thrown into a bus like animals against your will, and you’re not being sent to die — so why don’t you stick to reality and approve of any lies that are directed against Belarus? As a Belarusian, this is incomprehensible to me. If I don’t like Lithuania, I don’t make up fake news and propaganda against it.
