Hilltop - recent (Fall '26) 23.7lbs
Grass/Water 1yr ago (late summer '25) ~20lbs
Beagling his bro (March '25) ~18lbs
My concern is how skinny he looks today. He's also yoked for a 24lbs, 13" beag. He's easily jumping onto counter-tops with all 4 paws landing on top.
The other 15" 33lbs beag and 32lbs dox mix get 2/3rd cup of fresh pet, 2/3rd cup of fromm kibble, or 180g total, per day. They get a few grams of cheese sprinkled on, some very very light table scraps like a piece of bread crust from breakfast.
The white guy is getting 25% more of everything but he's ribs look a little too visible imo. He had worms when he got him in march 25, but not since. He's got a checkup soon as well.

I'm considering Biothane harnesses, and pet stores are full of other options, but I'm wondering if beagle owners in rural areas have tricks they use, like a chew-proof sleeve or behavior-conditioning tips. This beagle is 1.5 years old and has been through some kind of trauma. I'd love for my clients to take him to the park or a restaurant patio and know he won't chew himself free. I'd love to know that during a five-minute training break, he won't chew himself free. I call him the charming nudist. I've tried the bitter spray, that's when he chewed through his harness in less than five minutes.

My beagle is almost 4, and one thing we really struggle with is his (over)excitement if we go anywhere new. He’s great in our normal walk, but a new walk/hike…all training goes out the window, he’s pulling and barking. In a dog-friendly store or coffee shop, he’s whining non stop, does this whine where he’s almost screaming and can’t sit still. The most high value treats mean nothing to him when he’s in this state. I know he’s over threshold and I need to take a step back, but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to practice out of the house (where he’s perfect) when even the backyard is super exciting for him.
Has anyone trained their beagle to be chill in public, or is it just not in their nature to be still?

I recall a post where people talked about getting their beagle off of this and to an alternative, and I swore I saved the thread but can't find it anywhere! Can someone please help with alternatives that don't have the suspected seizure effects?? Thank you! 🙏

Two days ago, my dog was bitten by a snake while we were out on a walk. I didn’t see it happen because I wasn’t looking, but then I noticed a snake on the ground. We immediately got away from it.
When we got home, I noticed that my dog Ralph was unusually quiet. This is VERY out of character for a Beagle who usually comes back from walks absolutely wild and full of energy!
We rushed straight to the vet. Luckily, I had managed to take a picture of the snake, and it turned out to be venomous a viper.
Ralph had to be hospitalized for two days and received antivenom.
I’m so incredibly lucky that we made it to the vet within 20 minutes. TIME IS CRUCIAL in these situations!! If you ever suspect your dog has been bitten by a venomous snake, get them to a vet immediately. Don’t wait for symptoms to appear.
Those 20 minutes may have saved his life. ❤️

I experience this both in bed and while I'm sitting in a chair.
