Why is this a double standard? It's two totally separate things... What am I missing?

No double standards there, completely unrelated incidents in countries thousands of miles apart.

Who are you people?

I'm uninformed about political interference in India, who's doing it and what are their goals?

The difference is that peaceful protests in India don’t include (at the moment) heavily funded extremist groups creating violence in order to try to discredit democratic peaceful protests. In France there are masked thugs who are causing problems. They’re influenced by and in some cases funded by a network funded by wealthy assholes. And some of the agitators are just assholes.

Who are the "heavily funded extremist groups"? Who are the "wealthy assholes"?

ETA: downvotes but no answer? Forgive me then for suggesting the person I'm replying to has just made it up.

At this point it’s so entrenched it feels almost pointless calling it out.

That two separate news stories about two separate events that played out completely differently are reported differently? Wow Einstein please don’t stop the good fight!

Student protesters in France who are burning down town halls and fighting with riot police are no different from an activist in India who has used hunger strikes and peaceful demonstrations to oppose an explicitly Hindu nationalist government. I am very smart.
