DBC Halloween Party 2022
I was fortunate enough to party with A7X at their warehouse for a Halloween party, and it’s still one of the coolest memories I have.
What really stood out to me was how incredibly down-to-earth all the guys were. They were hanging out with fans, shooting the shit, pouring drinks, taking shots, and just having a genuinely good time with everyone. No rockstar bullshit, just a bunch of dudes having fun.
But my favorite memory of the night was when Gates brought out this HUGE jug of Jack Daniel’s and started pouring shots for everyone.
At some point, he grabbed my bald head and Johnny’s bald head (Johnny was dressed as Stone Cold Steve Austin for Halloween), smashed our heads together like a makeshift ball sack, and then crafted a makeshift cock out of some paper.
I swear to God, one minute you’re partying with Avenged Sevenfold, and the next Synyster Gates is turning you and another bald dude into a human dick-and-balls Halloween prop.
Absolutely fucking legendary.
Every Halloween, this memory randomly pops into my head, and I can’t help but laugh. It’s one of those moments you could never plan, and honestly, it’s hard to imagine a better story from a night like that.

This took… a very long time…
We had an engineering project in my class where we had to code a button to play a nursery rhyme. Then the professor said we could do a bonus song if it’s at least 75 notes so I ofc knew exactly what I wanted to do and made this and put a little light-up piano thing.

My interpretation of Gunslinger
I've always felt that the bridge acts as a sort of reveal.
Throughout the song, we're hearing a soldier who wants to return home to his wife. But the bridge basically reveals that the home he's referring to isn't on Earth, as his wife is deceased.
It kept hammering in how desperate he is to return home. But the nature of what "home" means, and his own fait are ambiguous.
The bridge makes it explicit: his wife is deceased, and he is fixing to die as well, joining her in heaven.
This is just my personal interpretation and perspective of it. Everyone has there own way of reading music, and the band certainly has their own meaning for it.

Art The Stage Deluxe Edition Serigraphs
Hello, I have these serigraphs of all five members from when The Stage Deluxe came out. I don’t want to take them all out because they’re delicate; they’re still in the same package I received them in.
Although I don’t want to let them go because they’re very rare, I’m going through a very tough time.

10 years of the stage
Hard to believe it's about to be 10 years since this album came out so I thought I would write about it to a bunch of strangers on the Internet spills some of my thoughts on each song individually and while I'm not trying to convince anyone state my case for this being THE best avenged album.
The stage
The first song on the album was certainly a harbinger of things to come. The intro from brooks is chef's kiss I love the lyrics to this song they sound so good while actually speaking some real stuff and the rest of the boys are in top form one of my favorite syn solos for sure only being eclipsed by another song later on this list.
Paradigm
I love the whole concept of this song as well and the screams from matt after he says final paradigm sound so good with the style of this song you can put this in the first half of nightmare and it wouldn't miss a beat well aside from the lyrical content anyways
Sunny disposition
Those freaking saxophones man putting them on there was pure genius like how do you even think of that another master class performance from brooks which really can be said for the album as a whole I like how softly the song ends it makes the next song hit so much harder than it already does
God damn
The shortest song on the album but doesn't feel that way this song Will have kicking and fist pumping at work it's just a hit in the face and I can feel the burst of energy from it I love it
Creating god
Damn the boys really saw the coming of ai that's so crazy to listen to specially nowadays this is a perfect end to the first half of the album
Angels
I love the somber sound this song is going for one of Matt's stronger performances I feel it's perfectly placed between creating god and simulation and it acts as an break of sorts that allows you to catch your breath for the latter half of the album I'm always a sucker for songs that get you in your feels and this one is certainly that
Simulation
What a kick ass way to kick off the next half of the album I think the concept of the song itself takes it to the next level or it could just be me being a huge fan of existential concepts like these
Higher
I feel like this song doesn't get talked about enough easily top 10 song by them yet another master class by brooks and the section where Matt sings meet you in the stars tonight so hypnotic
Roman sky
I actually had to look up who this song was about back then once I read about it it added more to the song paired with the orchestra this definitely a top 2 ballad from them
Fermi paradox
I like how Matt's vocals in this song kinda take a backseat to the syn and wackerman show featuring the best solo on the album and the second best drumming on the album (by a very very thin margin) very underrated song
Exist
What hasn't been said about this song yet another masterpiece by brooks but the song as a whole is absolutely crazy it's definitely an experience plus i also love watching star talk so the fact they got ndt to record something for them was top tier
You can put any song on this album against all their other work and they will hold up on their own this album has no song that can be skipped it's nothing but bangers all the way through i feel like sure people can say they hate this album but of the opinion that's it's just not your time yet everyone is in top form here matt sounds a little older but it's never detriment to the work as a whole and while I love libad(second best album by them argue with your mom) this album still sounds like the avenged we all grew up on just more mature in all aspects with that being said it's time i talked about the man of the hour Mr brooks fucking wackerman talk about the straw that stirs the drink what an absolutely unforgettable debut from beginning to end he absolutely killed it on every single song they let him cook so hard it's been 10 years and I still can't believe it he came in at the best time matt still had most of his voice I'm not saying his voice is bad though don't misunderstand (saw them in August in Dallas) but you can tell now the vocal injuries he has sustained have definitely affect his tone now and add to that how they are experimenting with new sounds (I don't hate statica) looking back we can definitely say that the stage also represents the last album were the boys still sounded like the boys feels kinda like the end of an era of sorts but man did they go out in a blazing glory put this album against any other of theirs with no bias and it's so clear to see it's their Magnus opus.(and no I'm not a new fan I've been listening to them since 07) I will always keep looking forward to what they release and support it even 10 years later I still have the same opinion I did back then that this album is gonna be really difficult to top. And don't even get me started listening to this album on LSD is an absolute experience 100/10 recommend and if you made it all the way here thank you for reading all this word salad

A7X in Melbourne 2014 vs 2026
I'm still recovering from last week's show in Melbourne. It felt like an out of world experience with getting crushed against the barricade (I am very tiny) and M Shadows pointing at me. I couldn't help but think about the last time they were here all the way back in 2014. It was my first ever gig as an awkward 19-year-old and holy shit, so much has happened since then.
I ended up finding photos from 2014 on my old hard drive, so I thought this could be a cool comparison shot. Funny how I was on the left side at both gigs. I really hope we don't have to wait another 12 years for them to come back 😭

An Alternative Nightmare
I don't know what to say, so i'll do something random. I think everyone had the thoughts about the alternative timeline with Jimmy alived and all. So i'll ask...what do you think how it might have been Nightmare album if Jimmy's death wasn't the "main theme" in this album? (or 50-70% of it).
With this i mean about not the way Jimmy would have played the drums, i mean about the songs, either the ones that already exist and probably more, or different ones. Sounds stupid but i wanna know more thoughts about the Deathbeat boys n' girls. Better said, what kind of theme could have had the album without Jimmy's death? I heard about "concept album", so maybe the theme wasn't ready at all, but the melodies and lyrics let us know that this album could have been obscure too but nothing to do with Jimmy, with darkness and confusion that drives the protagonist(s) to an important thought about life and death, searching help around just to come back to life, or maybe end it without luck.
For me i think songs like Victim, Tonight the World Dies, God Hates Us and So Far Away couldn't exist, at least the lyrics could change to fit with something more in this dark theme. Danger Line would have been included as something else out of the dark theme but with important messages about soldiers again, just like Gunslinger, all for honor and pride to them (Jimmy singing some backing vocals with his sweet voice like in the piano break). Buried Alive PROBABLY could have included The Rev as a main singer if Matt would have accepted that idea, or at least sing almost all the song, or important parts like Critical Acclaim choruses, incluiding Jimmy raspy vocals and screams in that heavy bridge, with the "What is it feels like?! Let me take it your soul!" part sung by both of them in both channels (could have been epic!). Natural Born Killer would have been more brutal if Jimmy might have played and sang the song with Matt, no doubt. I'm not sure if to include Lost It All and 4:00 AM, but probably this last one, the piano could have been played by him and a little different. And Fiction, there's a chance to include it with total different lyrics (or maybe changing some words, even the unfinished mumbling parts that Jimmy did), the band maybe would might have accepted to include another dark curious song made by their dear friend just like ALPOH, all the back vocals sung by him and probably a vocal melody between Matt, Jimmy and Brian in the sentimental piano section.
