My chickens keep hanging around my small Grevillea garden
We have a small grevillea garden in our backyard and our chickens and ducks have taken a liking to hanging around them. I'm worried they will eventually kill my plants due to their poop. Anyone else faced this problem? Might have to look at fencing this garden off.

Kangaroo paw needs help
Bought at Bunnings a few weeks back and has been deteriorating since I put it in the ground. Pulled the mulch back to check soil moisture and hopefully let it air out a bit.
Any advice is appreciated!

Is this wattle rotten? Southwest Australia
I got this wattle from the bush just now, planning on treating it to use as a bird perch., and after carving the bark away I noticed that some segments have this white colouration under the bark. It is softer than the brown coloured parts, and the fluffyness is from me cutting the bark away with a hatchet. The tree is well and truly dead, it's an old limb I found on the ground. I just want to know if this could pose a threat to my birds after I treat it

Hoping this suits this sub. Chamelaucium "Paddy's Pink" with a Blue Banded Bee visitor
Grown from a tube in Ballarat, Victoria. Long flowering period, and it attracts several species of pollinator insects & butterflys
Edit - Love my garden, maybe not an insectologist! 😂 So I'm informed it is in fact a blue bottle fly, not a blue banded bee. Apologies for any confusion

Big Plant ID help request!
Location: Victoria, northern Melbourne region
Hello, I hope I’m posting this correctly, please let me know of any errors or mistakes i make as this is my first time posting here.
I’ve recently come into a beautiful lively property that’s in dire need of TLC and attention, and I’m hoping to get some assistance on what some of the plants are so I can care for them correctly (and if they’re ok to eat, because they look delicious! If not, more for the rosellas and rainbow lorikeets that i heard happily chatting amongst the branches)
Any and all help would be wonderful so I can keep this vibrant garden alive and loved by the local wildlife
Edit: Thank you everyone for your help, it looks like this is going to be a lot of work but certainly well worth it! I’m very sorry for the photos being so blurry, i didn’t realise how bad it was until I looked back over them. I’ll take some better photos of the remaining plants at a later time with someone else’s phone, for now though, you’ve all been wonderfully helpful in pointing me in the right direction to care for this treasure of a garden 💚

Stages of Banksia integrifolia flowers
Greetings from Santa Cruz, CA!
I planted this Banksia integrifolia ~27 months ago from a sapling that was about 0.75 meters (2.5 ft) tall. It is now a towering 2.25 meters tall (~7.5 ft). As we're going into winter I noticed these interesting inflorescences on the tree. Will these grow into full blooms? I've noticed that when my other Proteales have a bud surrounded by branches like this, the flower never really becomes "showy". In this particular case, I don't want to trim the side growth because I am trying to grow a true tree.
Is Banksia integrifolia any different than other Proteales, or should I prepare to wait several more years before I get full flowers?
Thanks for all the help! It's incredibly hard to get advice locally as there are only a few specimens in my area outside of the local botanical garden.

New Lilly Pilly
These have been in the ground for about 10 days. About 4 out of 10 plants arrived from the nursery with some dark circular marks. Not widespread, but affecting 30 or so leaves per plant. I tracked it and it quickly turned into this yellow growth.
Nursery wants me to spray some fungicide (OCP Eco) to neutralise the spores and cut the affected limbs back in 3 days. No idea if this will work long term. Everything I read says Myrtle will be a nightmare, and that the fungicide they suggested doesn't solve the issue, as it doesn't contain the correct active ingredients to kill the underlying cause.
Any advice here? Is this just considered part and parcel of these plants now or is there recourse?

Orthrosanthus multiflorus purpling
galleryOne of the native irises that does well for a border and is so very rewarding. Flowers individually are not the longest lasting, though the plant gives for an extended period in the right conditions.

Grevillea ‘Moonlight’.
Hi, about 5 years ago when I bought this house and had the land cleared (was full of weeds and junk) I planted a bunch of various Grevillea around the yard including this ‘Moonlight’ I have going, currently struggling, maybe the last 6 months, is this too late to save? As you can see there is an issue with either iron or magnesium uptake from the fertiliser (Neutrog Bush Tucker).
I live in outback South Australia, our soil here is quite arid, calcareous, pH of 7.5+, so meaning ideally ‘Moonlight’ wasn’t suited for this area to begin with when I planted it, although has been doing well until the last day 12 months, some stunning huge white flowers that the birds, bees and ants love.
Instead of ripping it out, I’ve now learned more about what I can and can’t plant here in these soils, the soil conditions, so here is what I’ve done to try and salvage it.
I’ve trimmed back about a month ago, Grevillea respond well to trims, some say heavy, I’d say I cut back a quarter, I’ve put a generous amount of elemental sulfur around the area of the Grevillea, sulfur drops the pH in the soil over time, I’ve today bought some bags of Debco Native Potting Mix, it’s all I could get in our area in regards to Native soils, I’ve put 2 bags around the area of the Grevillea, turned the soil over and given a watering in via water can of 9l of water mixed with Eco Seaweed, so now I’ll sit back and see if it recovers.
I’ve also ordered a bottle of Growth Technology Iron, a EDDHA iron chelate which works in high pH soils like mine.
What are the chances it’ll bounce back, too far gone you think?

Common Velleia showing the Melbourne locals how it's done.
Goodenia trinervis is traditionally more happy in WA but is thriving in Melbourne.
Anyone else having success on the east coast with this one?
