Hey legends!
OnlyBands is a little project I’ve been building with a few mates to help connect the Brissy gig community, mostly the punk and rock end of things.
It started as a TAFE assignment to make a podcast, which we ended up doing with the old drummer of Violent Soho. We kept going after that, and it’s slowly turned into a small music mag and community.
Live music is one of my biggest loves and I want to help keep the scene going, so this weekend I went a bit overboard and built a few things:
🎸 A gig guide for every city, every gig under $100
Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and more. There’s a “this weekend” view too, so you can quickly see what’s on. Bands can add their own gigs for free.

🙋 Gig Buddies
A little forum for finding people to go to gigs with. If your mates always bail, or you’re new to town, post the gig you’re heading to and see who else is keen. No account and no algorithm. You can message people privately, so nobody has to post their number.

🗺️ The Scene: everything local, all in one spot
Every venue in each city, from tiny band pubs to the big rooms, with their links, socials and what’s on. Alongside that are the community radio stations, local zines and music press, other gig guides worth following, and the Instagram accounts keeping each scene alive. It’s for when you’re new to a city, or just want to dig a bit deeper into what’s happening locally.

✍️ A place to write, shoot and get published
We’re a small crew of people publishing interviews, reviews and gig photos, often for our mates’ bands or bands we’re covering. If you’ve wanted somewhere to write about music, shoot gigs or build a portfolio, come join us. No experience needed.

📣 Free stuff for bands
You can submit your music, list your gigs, or send us a show or release you want shared. Bands that can spare a guest list spot or some merch for our photographers and writers are more likely to get coverage.
It’s all free and very much a passion project, so I’d genuinely love some feedback. What’s useful, what’s missing, and what’s broken?
And if you’re keen to get involved, we’d love to build a little team in each city: people who know their local scene and want to post gigs, write, shoot or just help out. Drop a comment or flick me a message.
Cheers, and see you down the front 🤘
