Title basically. I'm looking for something with really good, immersive sound design, the kind of podcast where good headphones are ideal. Genre doesn't really matter. This is all about sound quality. Thanks in advance!

It's probably a me problem but I'm curious if anyone else has this issue in general?

In many shows I literally can't always decipher who is speaking when even if there is only a handful of of characters. Even after hours of listening doesn't seem to help. I can usually pull out a few with distinctive voices but the rest just blend together.

I've recently listened to almost all of "We're Alive" and still can't tell the soldiers and lead women apart a lot of the time. I think it's a combination of the voices not being clearly unique and them not using the character names out loud very often. Shows A Voice From Darkness are wonderful to me since it is super clear as to who is speaking most of the time at least.

I can't imagine there is much to be done, but anyone have any strategies for keeping the characters straight?

Strongly prefer sci-fi or fantasy settings.

I randomly started listening to Mission to Zyxx after seeing it mentioned over the years. I don't even find it ultra funny per se, but sometimes the actors reactions to outlandish things is HILARIOUS. Almost like watching blooper reels of Paul Rudd movies or something. It's so funny to me.

That being said I would like a nice, cohesive story with some good character development and even some more dramatic parts. But hearing disbelief, humour, and joy in an improviser's voice as when they're reacting to other cast members is really funny to me.

Thank you!

How many episodes on average do you give a new podcast before you make a decision on whether to keep listing? When you do make a decision, what factors play into it?

Hi All

I drive a truck for a living and have listened to podcasts for years to help pass the time. I recently switched to audio books available in my podcast app, but I've pretty much run it dry.

My question is where can I find audio books on a budget? I've looked into Audible, sounds like the app is pretty low effort, and scribl but there were issues for me there too.

Title says it all! My only preference is nothing that’s narrated, unless it’s something like Welcome to Nightvale. I’ve been through Midnight Burger, We’re Alive and so many more the list is endless.

I love weird stuff, culty folklore, witch craft, human sacrifices, aliens, anything space related, psychological horror.

What do you have?

I'm a big fan of End Of All Hope by 7Lamb Productions. What other well done audio dramas are sci-fi with first contact, alien invasions, or a multi species galaxy are there that are not "wizards in space" like Star Wars?

I liked TMA the best early on. In my opinion it worked great as an anthology but tied together with the framing device having the archivist as an narrator and taking place in the same world. Later seasons, while still good, explained too much of the world while pursuing the larger narrative, which killed some of the horror and mystery to me.

That made me wonder - are there any audiodramas that stick with the anthology format, but do still have some set fixtures, like for example the narrator is always the same person, reading some second-hand accounts, but the stories are mostly disconnected? Or maybe stories all take place in the same world, but the lore is just for extra flavor, not to build some larger narrative?

Take a listen! This is my first time creating an audio drama so it’s been such an exciting and stressful process!

The prologue episode will be out the 30th for those wanting a pre-Halloween spook.

Hello! I'm Will, the co-creator/producer for "Curdle Holler," an audiodrama comedy about a weird little Halloween town - and we just posted the fifth episode of Season Seven (our final season) in our continuing Halloween story. We'll be posting new episodes every Thursday through Halloween. 👻🍬🎃🦇💀

About the Show:

Welcome to your afterlife ... Chip Clearly and Bonita Von Wangencamp return for a new chapter in this serialized audiodrama/comedy about Halloween town, filled with kooky denizens and terrifying dilemmas.

(It's kind of like "Nightmare Before Christmas" meets "Fables" meets "The Andy Griffith Show!")

All seasons and specials are available (we are now publishing episodes for Season 7 through Halloween).

But! Start with Season 1 (the "Return Policy" episode) to get the full experience. All episodes and show information are available at https://curdleholler.com/

We're also on YouTube! Videos are fully captioned and lightly animated.

Thanks for the consideration, and if you listen and enjoy the show, we'd love to hear from you. Please do subscribe to the YouTube channel or podcast and leave us a review.

And let us know if you have a project that you'd like us to hear!

Episode 8 is out! The Season 1 finale!

It’s been a journey! I was gonna itemize all the work I’ve put into this thing, all the fun I’ve had so far, but I don’t want to sound self-congratulatory. Also, it isn’t over yet! Season two is coming January 5, 2028. In the meantime, I’ve got more work to do.

But I wanted to say thank you to the listeners. I’ve so appreciated the feedback and outreach. Making art can be a solitary thing, and the connection with listeners has made me feel less alone in this crazy world. I hope the show makes you feel less alone too, or at least provided some levity on your commute or while doing the dishes.

I’m really stoked to share next season. There are more surprises, twists, and turns on the way, along with more lists, more Lyudmila, more Wayne and [spoiler/redacted].

And if you’ve liked the show so far, please consider leaving a review or telling a friend. I’ve been trying to train the crows on my block to spam all the podcast apps with glowing 5 star reviews…but you know how that goes.

Have a great couple months, and I’ll see you on the other side of the solstice in January!

Hello! My name is Zane Sexton and I am the creator a new audio drama called ZACL 760AM!

ZACL 760 A.M is a dark comedy audio drama set in the immediate post-apocalyptic world of Chicago. This show follows the exploits of Matty DeBlanc, janitor-turned-radio-show-personality, and his sardonic producer Winona Wolfe as they take calls from the remains of humanity while trying to survive in a zany, unicorns-for-some-reason, nuclearized
world.

All episodes are out right now on all major audio platforms! You can also visit my website at ZACL760AM.com .

i run The Dread Tapes, a horror anthology series. tonight's a double drop: tape zero episode 11 (second to last before the halloween finale) and nightmare tapes night 16 both just went live at 8pm ET. both are on youtube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5gb1sHC9kg and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVNZ_miMzBc — they're also on spotify/apple podcasts if you want the audio versions. #fiction — these are fictional horror stories. hope they find the right ears.

I hope they fix the ending

Back again for another year it's the Your Horror Show Halloween Special which features a group of horror influencers going to live stream at a haunted house and the chaos that ensues. If you like House on Haunted Hill and Clue, you will love this.

So I’ve been working on a little website for my audio drama, Cold Shift.

For those unfamiliar, Cold Shift is a cozy cosmic horror series following Jaran, the somewhat optimistic facility manager of a research station in East Antarctica, where increasingly strange and unsettling things have a tendency to happen.

I’ve always wanted the world to exist beyond the recordings themselves, so I’ve started carving out a little corner of the internet for it.

The idea is to gradually expand the universe with extra material, diary entries and incident reports, giving listeners something to explore between episodes.

The podcast will still tell the main story, so none of the extra content will be required to follow along.

However, I hope you’ll enjoy exploring a little more of the world, and if you’re new, you’re very welcome aboard.

It's been awhile since I've listened to any good audio dramas. Can someone recommend some for spooked season in the same vein as black tapes or horror/Halloween themed?

Preferably only 1 or 2 seasons.
