Food Lunch for today

Post image
159 Upvotes

Started making lunch for work to save money. Today I have 2 hard boiled eggs, a chicken, avo, lettuce and homemade pickle mayo sandwich. Avo was 75c each, sliced chicken from deli counter at woolies. Freyas bread and Pam's mayo/mustard/pickles, lettuce from paknsave. Eggs from warehouse.

Cost - $1.50 for sandwich and around $1.60 for two eggs. A bottle of water from the tap.

Not bad - came in under $3.50 for the lot

Found this at the Albany muffin break today. Photographed on Wed 28 Oct. Very creative way to see who people are choosing as we wait for the final results.

Seems like every muffin break is doing this.

What are our thoughts?

Question/Help Wanted Help find the people who broke into my car in Auckland CB

Hi everyone,

About two weeks ago, on 7th of october, two people smashed the window of my car in the Auckland CBD and took all my belongings, including my luggage and personal items. I'm a backpacker and had just arrived from China from vacation, so I lost nearly everything I own. I know leaving my things in the car was a mistake, but I had nowhere else to store them.

They also used one of my stolen cards at Countdown. I've attached the CCTV photos from the store.

I've since heard they've been spotted around the CBD again. If you recognise them, have seen them, or know anything, please message me or contact the police. Even small details help.

I've filed a police report, but I'd love any help the community can give. If you find or come across any of my stolen items, please let me know.

Objects like sony a6000, valorant champions jacket, China starbucks cup, demon slayer figure, pop mart boxes, x361 shoes,Essentials hoodie

Thank you so much, and please look after your belongings. 🙏

Public Transport Trains are at Capacity (yay!)

Used the Western line to commute this morning just after 8 and all six cars were quite full by Morningside and by Mt Eden it seemed like a few people wouldn’t be able to get on but people in the cars shuffled a bit closer in the aisle and everyone made it.
I think the rail network is gonna smash all expectations and get beyond capacity just like Britomart did. Somebody tell the florist lady!!

Discussion Bin-gate: cheeky neighbour took our bin and filled it

Our suburb is not flash, but usually friendly and safe. Now last week our red lid rubbish bin went missing. We just got a new one bc the old one was taken as well. The old one was barely holding together so I was keen on a new one. Ordered from council, boom flash new bin arrives. She’s clean as a whistle, has our address label and a new feature, a code embossed in the plastic. There’s no doubt this is our bin.

After our first collection day with this new beauty, she’s gone MIA. I’m thinking, someone mistook the bin and it’ll be back tmrw. Nope. Potentially 2 bins taken in the last 2 weeks.

Now it’s the following collection day, she’s back! Defiled with loose chicKing bones and medical waste (gloves, dressings etc). I know who took it. There’s no doubt in my mind. They also missed collection last week and their overflowing bin sat on the berm for a while. I walk past it daily when taking my kids to school.

So I’ve got my bin back, waiting on an empty. Would you just move on? Or revenge? Or should I just order another bin and give it to them because you gotta be pretty destitute to do that when you can just order your own new bin?

Discussion Does heavy AI usage makes you second guess?

If a company uses AI a lot on their website, would that somehow alter your perception on their competency/trustworthiness?

For context, i am looking into these guys for cleaning my HVAC units (https://thecoolingcrew.co.nz/) mainly due to their lower price and good google reviews. However checking their website, facebook and instagram, the content is obviously AI and that somehow makes me second guessing everything. What do you guys think?

EDIT: From a customers perspective not a business owner.

Discussion Inflation on…. repeat prescriptions?

Post image
12 Upvotes

I’m so sick of greedy, seedy businesses and the rich idiots in power who make it easier to squeeze every dollar you have from your wallet to afford basic essentials.

I was a huge advocate for the Tend services because I think healthcare should be this accessible and easy, but obviously that comes at a price i now see….

Getting a repeat prescription used to be 19.99 iirc. Now it’s $29.95!!!!😢

I have medication scripts for 3 separate medications and luckily two of them come under the same charge when I need repeats, but then this one comes separately for some reason and I can’t get them to align them to repeat at the same time so I’m forced to pay this charge twice for my repeats each time I need them. Thank god chemist warehouse still has free prescriptions to pick them up.

I’m so tired of being a puppet to the rich in this capitalist hell scape of a country.

Rant Does anyone else go to the Simplicity Fitness in Mount Welly and notice a couple people that smell really bad?

I’ve been going here for maybe 5ish months now and there’s two guys in particular that I’ve noticed. One wears a green singlet and I’ve seen him wear it 10+ times I’ve been to the gym, I genuinely don’t think I’ve seen him wear anything else. It kinda gets annoying because they stink up the whole area but I don’t want to come across rude and they take it the wrong way if I tell them lmao. The other dude usually wears a white singlet and always wears the same outfit too, and he also stinks up the whole area too.

I know it’s a gym and people are obviously going to sweat but it’s every single time I’ve seen them and it’s the second they walk in, you can smell it. It stinks really bad usually you can smell it from the other side of the gym … Makes me think do they even use deodorant or realise they smell 🫠 I’m not trying to be rude or anything but surely I can’t be the only one who’s noticed?

Visiting Auckland A stranger gave me a hug in Auckland❤️

This afternoon, I was walking outside the entrance to Albert Park, lost in my thoughts.

A girl walked past me, holding a cup of coffee. She stopped, came up to me, and asked,“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m okay,” I said. “I was just thinking about something, so I came out for a walk to clear my head.”

“That’s all right,” she said gently. “I just noticed that you seemed a little upset.”

We talked for a little while, and then she asked me,“Do you need a hug?”

I nodded

She put her arms around me and gave me the warmest, tightest, longest hug ❤️

I could smell her lovely scent.

“You’re so nice,” I said.

She smiled and said a few encouraging words to me.

Then she left, and I continued my walk.

But as I walked away, I could still smell her scent on me.

She had left a little of her fragrance on me, and I felt like I was carrying her warmth with me, too.

Question/Help Wanted Found fanny pack

Hi everyone. I'm at a bit of a loss on where to post this. Hope it's okay to do so here. I found a good quality olive colored canvass waist pack /fanny pack along the north western cycle way.

If you can tell me what the contents were, I would be happy to reunite you with it.

Employment Job hunting in Auckland over the holidays?

Hi everyone,

For those who have job hunted or changed jobs in Auckland during November, December or January, how was your experience? Did you find it harder to get interviews and offers, or was hiring still fairly active?

My current job is affecting my mental health and confidence, and I’m considering leaving. I’m trying to understand how realistic it would be to find another role over the holiday period before making a decision.

Industry - Business analysis, data analytics, and related corporate roles.

Early-career professionals (1–3 years of experience)

Would love to hear about your experiences. Thanks!

Question/Help Wanted Dentist Cost

I need a root canal and crown. The dentist quoted $5,278, and I'm just wondering if that's a good price.

It's on the bottom right, one of the big chomping teeth. About halfway back, I'm pretty sure it's called a molar.

Visiting Auckland North Harbour stadium travel..

Kia Ora team.

I’m headed to the supercross at North Harbour stadium this weekend (31/10/26).
I’m trying to navigate the public transport and or parking options, but it’s confusing the heck out of me..

Any ‘simple’ recommendations for a lad from the BOP?
I’ll be driving up on Saturday, but I’m currently struggling to find a decent place to park as I don’t know the areas up there at all….

Any tips for a nearby (safe) car park, or bus station, or something like that, where I could park and take public transport from would be greatly appreciated…

TL;DR, where’s a decent place to park for events at North Harbour stadium?

Chur.

Question/Help Wanted Brother Missing in Auckland

Hello people of Auckland, I'm writing over the pond from Canada in hopes if anyone can help me out.

My brother is visiting Auckland with some of his friends, and has been un-responsive for the past 4 or so days. Last known communication was stating that he reached a hiking trail and I haven't heard from him at all.

Is there any line, or phone number I can reach out to local authorities for stuff regarding this? Might be a reach but is there any chance for cellular reception to be received on any of the local hiking trails/camping spots too?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

EDIT:
10/27/2026 8:00 AM EST

Thank you all for expressing your concern for my brother, it truly is appreciated. As for more details about his whereabouts, I am unaware if the trail he took was a multi-day one, or a shorter one. The last known place of stay was at a motel in Manukau.

3 Hospitals have been contacted (Middlemore, Auckland City & Waitakire Hospital), in which they state there is no one admitted under his name.

As for his travelling companions, I am unfamiliar with them as they are his friends from highschool; all I know is that they are all around the same age (30yo~). I will be contacting the Canadian Embassy when the office opens (8hrs or so from now), and will be forwarding his photo to those of you who run local Facebook pages.

Again, thank you all for your kind words and thorough advice.

EDIT:

Hello folks, all is well now! My brothers phone broke during his 8 hour hike- and couldn’t get it repaired until the Tuesday in NZ as Monday was a holiday. He has healthy and safe- I truly thank you all for your support and unwavering help! I cannot express my gratitude enough that you kind strangers were all willing to lend a helping hand!

Thank you all! :)
