Posted here on Reddit a couple weeks ago asking about a used ID.4, and you guys pretty much convinced me to go electric.
Quick recap: I'm a new grad moving to Seattle, buying my first car in the US. I mainly plan to use it on weekends. Skiing in winter (Stevens, Snoqualmie), sailing, biking, groceries, and a couple of road trips. I'd keep it 1.5 years, maybe 2. Oh and I found out my building has an EverCharge Level 2 charger in my parking spot and the electricity is included in the rent. So charging at home is free. That kinda sealed the EV thing for me.
Problem is, now I found these options and I can't really pick one:
- 2023 ID.4 Pro RWD, 35K miles, $18,838
- 2024 Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor, 19K miles, $18,800
- another 2024 Polestar 2, same config, ~$19K
Same money, and the Polestar is a year newer with almost half the miles??
Honestly, my heart has already kinda picked the Polestar. I love cars that are fun to drive, and from what I read the Polestar looks and drives sportier, it has more physical buttons than the ID.4 at least, and a lot of them have the panoramic roof. I have an XC60 back in Europe and I love it.
What scares me is the trunk. It's smaller, and between skis, boots, backpacks and stuff I don't know if it'll work. The bike isn't really a problem, worst case I put a tow hitch on it and get a bike rack. Does anyone know how much that would cost on a Polestar 2? Dealer only or can any shop do it?
Other stuff I'm not sure about:
- both are RWD. with good winter tires is that ok for the passes or am I gonna regret it
- ground clearance on the Polestar for the forest roads to trailheads, problem or not
- anything specific to check on a used 2024 Polestar? recalls, software, known issues
Also all three are out of state (CA, GA, NJ) so I'd have to ship it or fly there, idk yet. If anyone knows a good place around Seattle for used ones let me know.
