Armenia evisa trap for Indian citizens/families after booking non-refundable tickets - Has anyone tried third-party invitation sites like Domovoi?
Sharing a frustrating experience and looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with this recently.
My family of 3 (myself, my wife and our kid) planned a self-managed, self-drive vacation to Armenia. I hold a valid US visa, but my wife and child do not. We all have decent international travel history (europe, us, north america, etc), so I had just glanced over the visa info earlier, saw it was a standard 3–5 working day evisa process and assumed getting it online would be straightforward, without diggin deeper.
But after booking non-refundable flights, hotels on booking.com and a self-drive rental car, I discovered a major hurdle on armenia's official evisa portal for indians. Going by what that mfa link says, it appears one needs an official invitation letter to proceed if you do not hold a valid western/GCC visa
Standard hotels and car rental agencies in armenia refuse to issue these letters because they are independent bookings not full tour packages. I stumbled across a third-party site offering automated invitation letters for around $15 :Domovoi Travel . Has anyone here actually used Domovoi Travel or a similar third-party service for an armenian invitation letter?
Also, would going through a physical visa agency in India to submit paper applications directly to the new delhi embassy (very far for me - travelling there is not an option) be a viable workaround for independent travelers in this situation or is an invitation still strictly required there too?
Would appreciate any insights or warnings! Never expected this would be this much of a hurdle for indians applying a basic 10 day tourist visa for armenia :(
