Unless you have proof that it was added and have the email confirming your coverage, you may be looking at out-of-pocket costs.

The additional screening may show when adding a device to AppleCare One to ensure the device being added is not already damaged. This ensures that you’ve got insurance on a device fully functional and not damaged beforehand.
