For the best. Spontaneous screen death is a risk with every foldable sadly.

My golden rule is to never buy first generation products or wait a year to see the kinks. Everything is crazy expensive now, so it's good to know before you buy.
I do hope Apple sticks with the Duo. It's my favorite form factor I've seen from foldables.

This isn't something that's just a first gen problem. Samsung, Google, Oppo, Honor, Vivo, Moto, etc still have foldables die like this. It's just an inherent risk with a folding form factor.

I can already see all the “Samsung” fanboys reposting this 100x in their subreddits as if all 8 generations of Galaxy folds hadn’t had similar issues.
This is the compromise of foldables. The devices are really cool but come with a lot of trade offs including durability.

Yea, this is just a reality of foldables. Until there are insane advances in folding OLED tech, this will always be a risk.

This happens with “seasoned” foldable as well. More moving parts means foldable will be less reliable.
I’ll stick to my slab.

There will be plenty of broken ones.
Any product has a standard failure rate, and these will be inherently more fragile than normal phones. There’s no way to say this early if there’s an issue.
But they’ll get lots of publicity as it gets clicks. Apple stuff always does, and more so as it’s a high profile launch.
