Amway Got the Amway pitch today, I let them down by telling them I was rich...

Got my first MLM pitch today, obviously had 0 interest going in, but I didn't want to be overly rude.

I sat through their whole pitch, wearing my nicest suit, and Omega watch. Of course the pitch HEAVILY relied on the whole "you can make money with very little effort" thing, so I asked questions like I was interested, and had no idea what they were pitching me, and had a few funny moments throughout it.

I took the whole meeting as if it were a high class office meeting, expressing my "questions" and "concerns"

Throughout the pitch, I said "not to be rude but I have a few concerns..." I said "this sounds like an MLM" and to my surprise they very quickly responded "It is." (Didn't expect them to admit it tbh)

I let them down fairly easily. They mentioned monthly expenses after the first year, and I threw their math back at them, telling them in their own words how much I'd have to sell just to cover the investment, and that the general public is usually quite opposed to buying from MLMs. They agreed, but essentially told me its not that hard if I "beleive in the product" and bring it up every chance I get, lmao.

The fun for me came at the very end, this guy first talked to me about it while I was working my part-time 9-5, so I guess he assumed I was desperate? After their whole speech they were talking about how "nice it would be to not have to worry about money someday" and I replied:

"I actually dont really need to worry about money, my primary source of income is a hedge fund, and I live very comfortably off of it." (Not entirely a lie, but definitely a stretch)

I also threw the whole "make easy money" thing back at them by saying "...doesn't get much easier to make money than a hedge fund..."

They didn't really know what to say, they sort of accepted, and shifted to trying to sell me products, and I told them I was pretty set in my ways for how I buy things.

I thought it was a kind of fun way to get them to stop contacting me about it, time will tell if it works though...

TL:DR: I shut down an Amway pitch by telling them I was rich, and had no need to join their MLM.

Discussion MLM To Cult Roadmap Activated

The current leaders of Arieyl have started a motivational "faith-based" something, seems superculty.

"Scratch an MLM find a cult", is coming true with the struggling MLM Arieyl. After losing most of their "rock stars" to another MLM, Arieyl ownership is moving into the motivational space. I'd look for $10K getaways that teach nothing but are super profitable. I mean spiritually fulfilling.

There is a YT video if you can stomach it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vp2UrerC9wA&t=2301s

Discussion Purium - the owner himself says that MLM is not a sustainable business model, yet his top leaders are ignoring that for their new "opportunities".

The scramble by the top leaders is sad but entertaining. The way they have such a hook on their downlines is absolutely stunning. One pair is off to Shaklee, another group has yet to announce. All conveniently in place to make announcements the same day as the MLM fell.

All very much saying exactly what they said about Purium...they have found the best, most exciting, most unique and best compensation plan they've ever seen (Shaklee has been around for decades, funny they only now noticed? Can't be cuz they are getting a massive chunk of change to convert?), the best, most caring owners, vibe and mission. Wow.

The boot licking is beyond, they all still think Dave and Amy really ever cared about them besides the free labor and promotion. I feel so deeply for the sheep of mlms. Apparently, there may even be withholding of compensation owed. I think it will be really interesting to see what happens if they completely fold and there are no more products at all ..will all these people who have tethered their lives to overpriced supplements finally realize that they can achieve optimal health without them? Or will they spiral into doom? Fascinating stuff.

Discussion Potential scam?

I signed up for a company called Gem inc located in Virginia alexandria. i did a quick phone call then the next day i did a multi person zoom meeting. they talked about training being paied, its in a fixed location which is the location you chose, and that after paid training which also includes a manual and check list you start getting your hourly wage. the recuter also asked us to give out two interesting things about us outside the resume. they also claimed to work with non profit organizations and work on keeping veterens off the streets. something about this didnt seem right. it all felt too good to be true. the position is markating and sales associate. i can go on and on about what they said but this is the main jist. is this an mlm/ devilcorp?

Story Friend treating me like a lead/part of her pipeline

As the title suggests, a friend (more like an acquaintance) of ~10 years has been involved in a myriad of MLM schemes, from things like curcumin supplements, all the way up to various 'self-help' courses and circuits.
Every time she becomes involved in a new 'business venture', she uses fake intimacy in order to pitch me on them. For example: she'll ask how I'm going, and once I open up, she'll start the pitch.
"Oh wow that sounds hard, but I think I have something that might help. [Insert pitch about how curcumin can cure anxiety, or how she's been following this self-help guru and he has a workshop she'd love me to join.]"
I politely (awkwardly) decline each and every time, yet refuse to simply cut her off because I sort of feel bad for her. She's not a bad person, but she's...a little hollow, emotionally. There's not much underneath the surface, from what I can tell; something slightly soulless in her eyes.
Anyway, it had been a while since we'd spoken, so I figured I'd give her the benefit of the doubt after she recently wished me a happy birthday. I asked how she was, and she launched into a 3-day long vent session about her various woes: 'professional' stagnation, relationship problems.
Over those three days, I offered her counsel and tried to be a good friend. Comforting her and offering words of wisdom/advice.
Finally, she asked how I was doing. I decided to open up for once (I don't have many friends) and told her truthfully that I had been struggling in the last few years, stuck in a rut and lamenting my inability to be vulnerable with people in my life (nobody knows "me"), preventing the intimacy I so desperately desire.
Her response?
"I'm here for you if you want to discuss this further, and I'm actually a life coach now, so let me know and we can set up your first session."
I swear MLM-brain is a thing, like a type of cordyceps.
It was so dehumanising and upsetting. Your friend opens up to you and *that's* when you decide to pitch them on your latest scheme?
Yikes.
Lesson learned: 'friendships' with MLM-brained folk (as sorry as I feel for them getting caught up in these schemes) aren't actually friendships.

Discussion MLMs profiting off of tragedies?

I feel like I'm the only person in my town who thought this was kind of shady, but here's the story:

So a new Herbalife front opened up in my town. The usual "loaded tea nutrition shop" thing, AI posters and menus promoting their business, etc. etc.. I was hoping they wouldn't last long like the other one that was in my town, but instead, they blew up in popularity. Haven't seen a single person call them out for being Herbalife, though they surprisingly did confirm they were selling Herbalife on their Facebook page.

Back in September, there was a big local news story about a little girl that had accidentally drowned.

This Herbalife shop then decided to make a drink named after the little girl to honor her memory, and said 50% of sales would go to the family.

And I thought, only 50%? Why not more than that? Why not do a fundraiser or a raffle or anything other than just 50% of your loaded tea sales?

So many people were praising them, but, idk, it just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe I'm just being cynical and I'm naturally distrustful of MLMs, but to me it just felt like more of a way to promote their business than to actually help a grieving family. Is this a common thing people in MLMs do?

Help/Advice Is the Vancouver Leadership Convention run by an MLM organization / corporation?

I have a friend who attended it. He told me he was becoming a financial advisor. Afterwards, he sent me a message that read,

"hey bro, I was actually gonna ask you to help me with my training brother if you don’t mind I pretty much have to give a quick 10-15min presentation on zoom about how to invest, save big on taxes and how we help people

Worst case you learn something new, and we just have a nice chat, is that ok?"

I have previously worked with FAs and figured I could always help a friend. Afterwards, he sent me the invitation, and another guy was included in the meeting (which he did not tell me about beforehand) and the videos from the event I have seen on his socials make the whole thing seem extremely finance bro-ey. Immediately, my warning flags went off.

I told him I no longer could make it due to my work, and I would let him know when we could reschedule it. He said fine, but now he keeps asking when to do it. I do not want to be stuck in a meeting that keeps pushing me to sign up for some bull*hit.

This American woman recruited someone in Germany. That German then recruited ANOTHER German, who was then able to recruit 10,900 people during the initial launch into the country.

This delusional hun thinks she somehow did something to cause this chain of events to happen.

And that she EARNED it.

She can't even speak German. She can't train or coach any of them.

She just got lucky.

Story Almost got dragged into an MLM today (Fuxion)

So yesterday a classmate I had in high school (who I haven't talked to in 2 years, and was never really friends with to begin with) tried calling me out of nowhere but I couldn't at that time. Earlier today I saw the missed call and sent them a message to see if they needed anything and they asked me if I could join a call about "how to start working and earning money from home". I was polite and said sure, why not, because I assumed they meant it was a conference or meeting about literally working from home or doing freelancing.

Few hours later, they send me an invite to a zoom meeting, and at this point I still thought it a meeting hosted by our school (my school has both high school and college and they often host conferences on campus related to our courses/carreers; my classmate and I are both currently in college, though I don't know if this person also is as well), until the meeting began and saw there were around 150 people from multiple countries across latin america (none of whom I recognized, I also tried searching old names to see if there was anyone I recognized, but nothing came of it).

For a second I thought Fuxion was some random sponsorship my school was hosting to give us lectures, but I started to be suspicious because I had never heard of this company and the language and visuals they were using looked like a stereotypical pyramid scheme. Around the same time the meeting started my classmate sent me a message asking me if we could call each other once the presentation finished so "I could tell them what I thought about it". While the presenter was talking, I started searching for information about Fuxion and very quickly saw a lot of posts and comments of people who had also seen or dealt with these people, and most of them agreed that it was absolutely another mlm.

My breaking point was when the presenter said: "when this meeting ends, tell the person who invited you here that you want to be a part of us". As soon as they said that I knew my suspicions had been confirmed, so I deleted the chat with my classmate and blocked them before leaving the meeting.

At the time I thought it was kinda funny that I was being dragged into an mlm, but then it hit me that I was being dragged into an mlm, by someone that I had known and worked with a few times not too long ago, and who likely still goes to my school. It saddens me, because what little things I knew about them personally were positive things, they seemed intelligent and they had (and maybe still have) plans for their carreer and work and everything that comes with adult life, but I feel like they're now stuck in this scheme and see themselves forced to do the whole "invite others to join our business" cliché thing, or maybe they were coerced into taking part in the whole thing by someone close to them.

Its just shit to see someone consumed by this type of stuff, I don't know what I should do if I ever run into my classmate again in person. What do you guys think I should do? Have you had any experiences with Fuxion?

Rant Using disabled people

Post image
36 Upvotes

I am part of a fb support group for people with the same physical disability as me and this person posted trying to get people involved in I'm assuming planet marketing. Turns out they are the creator of the support group. Until now I have found the group useful and it been nice to talk to people with a shared experience bit this has given me the ick. I'm so disgusted, exploiting people already struggling is a special kind of evil in my book. The extra expense of being disabled is already bad enough we dont need to lose money pretending to be boss babes 🤬
