One can't even spin on a chair because it's considered "weird" and childish.
What a world we live in.

I’m sorry you are surrounded by people who can’t handle you unmasked. I learned it’s best to slowly unmask, a little at a time and use that to choose who you spend time with. Help them get accustomed to you without overwhelming them.
Sometimes unmasked ADHD can be... difficult to deal with. I mean if you could get away from your own brain you absolutely would at least some of the time, right?
Or is that just me?

Nah, dealing with my own bullshit is extremely draining, and I wouldn't blame anyone who felt the same having to deal with me. I'm glad I have friends, but I don't know how they do it. I guess I play pretend well enough?

I feel this big time. Have spent the past 3 years going through a traumatic divorce against a narcissist abuser, and all but 4 people in my life totally abandoned me. I thought I had hundreds of friends, but it turns out they were only friends with the fun, cool, happy version of me. Once I no longer had the capacity to mask, people I had bent over backwards to help when they needed it, simply vanished.

The solution is obvious: Find people that accept and like the unmasked you.
Not easy, I know

Dont Worry about being liked by neurotypical people. (I know, easier said than done.)

hahahahahhahahahah I'm not in this picture at all
Fun fact about being a living version of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl trope: people don't give a shit about you if you don't want to be romantically involved with them, whether or not you're pretty

I have found the only friendships that last are with my fellow tisms.
Normies have no idea and also don't seem to.. actually care. Apparently talking about special interests for hours on end isn't normal conversation 🤷♀️
Lets also not forget. Late stage capitalism is basically poisen for us. I am ment to forage for very specific berries. Not bureaucracy.

I have always had a hard time making friends. As an adult it’s even harder.
A few weeks ago at work I was doing something in a different department and ended up chatting with one of the staff members there. She started off introducing herself when I asked her name by saying, “I don’t talk to people very often, I just keep to myself”. I said great! Me too! (I am also female, btw, not a creepy dude).
We seemed to have a lot in common and I ended up staying there for almost 2 hours just hanging out and talking to her. I admit I probably got a little too excited which doesn’t mix well with my awkwardness and I kept saying stuff like “you’re amazing” because well, I thought she was amazing.
Anyway, I gave her my cell # and she invited me to an event over the weekend, outside of work. I said I’d let her know. We said our goodbyes because I wanted to go eat my lunch, and as she was leaving I was still pretty excited about meeting her and how much we had in common that I yelled to her “you’re so amazing!” as she got on the elevator.
After a couple days she hadn’t texted me. I started getting the feeling that I freaked her out, so I sent her a text just letting her know I’d be available on that weekend if she still wanted to hang out. She didn’t reply. At all. And she still hasn’t. 😣 Now I cringe at myself every time I replay that entire interaction over and over in my head.

If you make yourself important enough at work you can unmask and it becomes someone else’s problem to deal with
