OEM Parts/Modifications ABARTH PARTS/MODIFICATIONS

As the title suggests, a few members on the Abarth team have decided to put together a full disambiguation of commonly referenced websites that provide parts for our cars.

Disclosure: We are missing input from members with T-Jet 1.4L engines.

USDM/CAN/MEX 1.4L MULTI-AIR TURBO

Abarth OEM part suppliers

  • Dicorse
  • While Dicorse carries both OEM, OE, and OE+ solutions, their store provides the cheapest alternatives to repairing CV Axles as opposed to buying them brand new, same goes for suspension components.

  • Mopar Online Parts
  • An honorable mention, because they ask you to check for part fitment via VIN, and withhold your order if the parts you purchased don't match up with the vin you provided. It kept me from buying wrong parts once, and I'll continue to use them for extensive work requiring OEM components

Abarth Aftermarket/OE+ suppliers

  • SpeedMotive
  • Speedmotive has been my one stop shop for anything performance for my Abarth. Shipping is always quick, parts are reputable, guaranteed fitment (when choosing correct model, of course) and easy communication with the store.

  • Euro2Ner.com
  • A community member, Euro2Ner has now started his own page devoted to modifying our USDM Abarths, even providing a near "plug-and-play" euro tail-light modification. Not only that, Euro2Ner provides parts for other makes and models branded under Stellantis.

  • EuroCompulsion
  • What would an Abarth group be without our next honorable mention, Eurocompulsion. Now, we don't have a discount code through them, but they have reworked their staff and website quite a bit over the years. They have been supplying a lot of the Abarth community in the past, and some have "horror stories" from their past, but they still supply quite a few aftermarket parts not sold elsewhere.

  • NGEN CUSTOMS AND PERFORMANCE Another great Stellantis supporting distributor for modifications. If you’re looking for exterior modifications/bodykits, this is certainly your one stop shop.

  • Tork Motorsports
  • Provider of some of the first aftermarket performance products to increase power using the multi-air brick. Their website does look a bit dated, but they still provide good service. One of their packages on their site includes everything (except for an oil fill neck O-ring) to do a valve cover gasket overhaul on our Abarth's, which makes maintenance much easier.

  • 500 Madness
  • Lastly, we have 500 madness. A lot of members in our group have also dealt with Madness before, but mostly for commonly sourced items, and some performance upgrades. They have designed their own intakes, with little success. They do however have a large selection for niche items like center caps/Abarth specific shift knobs, and merch.

Tips and previously negotiated commonalities of Abarths

  • So, you've broken your door handle. We've got that covered:
    • 68069942AB (Passenger side door handle)
    • 68069943AB (Driver side door handle)
  • If your Abarth has anywhere close to 70k miles, there's a good chance your plastic ram air intake boot is melted, and letting in hot air right above the downpipe. Not all Abarths seem to be affected by this, however, I have provided a link for the fix here. Below I have pictured what the linked part looks like, installed.
"Ram air intake boot" installed
  • Continuing on with our trend of air intake systems and improvements, I've decided to split the categories of air intake systems into three parts. With FMIC, with stock SMIC, with stock SMIC and stock airbox.
    • With FMIC: "ATM Fenderwell intake" - Even goes as far as to remount the windshield washer fluid reservoir for better fitment, which is why this intake "takes the cake" over the "ORRA Fenderwell intake". Find the ATM Fenderwell intake on Speedmotive, and take a peak at what it looks like installed.
"ATM Fenderwell Intake"
  • With Stock SMIC: Since there are more than a couple decent options here, I will list the two intakes known to keep IATs the lowest. The ATM system had the lowest IATs (Intake Air Temps) out of all intakes in this category, but may be too loud for some.
    • "ATM Holey Cowl" - Loud, but beautiful. Truly built for those who love turbo noises. Find it through Speedmotive. Drilling a hole into the cowl will be required for this modification.
    • "Eurocompulsion V4 Intake" - Very easy to install, super good looking in the bay, and draws 100% of its air from outside the engine bay. Find it at Eurocompulsion.
  • With Stock SMIC and stock airbox: This is essentially the OEM+ solution I mentioned earlier in the write-up. So for you folks who like the look of the stock airbox, but want to spice up the performance, here are some options! All of the following listed solutions should be complimented with a ram air intake boot for optimal performance.
    • Pre 2015 models:
    • Eurocompulsion V3 Air Induction Kit (with drop in filter)
    • 500 Madness filter housing upgrade kit (with drop in filter)
    • 2015 and on models:
    • Eurocompulsion V3 Air Induction Kit (with drop in filter)
    • 500 Madness Filter Housing Upgrade Kit (with drop in filter)
    • Injen SP Short Ram Air Intake System (with drop in filter) I have a picture of it below, not to get confused with a traditional "ram air intake"

Injen Intake solution mentioned above for OEM+

Looking for the best motor oil? Check out our top picks (All in 5W-40):

  • Shell Rotella T6 full synth. Turbo diesel oil
    • Only for de-cat exhaust systems. Thicker hydrocarbons produced from the burning of AOS gasses from the crankcase WILL clog a catalytic converter intended for use with a gasoline engine.
  • Redline full synth.
  • Castrol Euro Formula full synth.
  • Mobil 1 Euro Blend full synth
  • Pennzoil Euro Platinum (Ferrari on the bottle) full synth
    • It should be noted that this is the oil used at Mopar service centers. Thank you u/mcmercf1
  • Liqui-moly Ultra Low Friction full synth.

I don't mean to tell you how to modify your car, folks. It's your Abarth. We are all here to learn and talk about stuff Abarth. I would prefer, however, that you guys and gals make smart decisions when modifying your beasts, as that's what keeps them running for you to enjoy!

(Meta) Can we add flairs to this subreddit?

• Upvotes

I'm mainly referring to having a flair "NA" or "EU" so when someone is describing their car, it's useful to know where they're from, because North American models are only so similar to European models (but the regulations differ or whatever so the cars aren't identical). The economies are also very different, and from what I've learned by using the internet, Americans tend to buy everything on Amazon. I'm from EU and it isn't really the case like this around me. Damage that Americans call total is often repairable here.

And, of course, an "Other" flair for all other posts.

Radiator Replacement

TMC Motorsport uprated alloy radiator or Direnza Aluminum performance radiator? Or, another suggested option that will last a while and give good performance.

For the Abarth 2013 595 Turismo. Thank you

Fuel cut off unavailable and then stopping

Shortly after I started driving this morning my car (2017 595) started beeping at me with the warning 'fuel cut off unavailable'. It beeped a few times, then faster before completely cutting all power. When I tried starting the engine again it wouldn't crank.

After a few minutes I tried starting the car again and it fired up no issue and no warning lights etc. However, the same thing happened about half a mile on and it beeped before shutting off.

Has any encountered this or know any potential causes / fixes?

Cheers :)

Check engine light and codes after an oil change

I have a 2014 500 Abarth and it has 78k miles. All of a sudden after the last oil change it is running rough when I accelerate when I start it but goes back to normal after about a minute. I replaced the multi air brick at 65k miles because I was getting a solenoid code before and have changed the oil every 3k miles since I got this car at 56k miles. I can’t imagine that the multi air brick is already going bad again since it was just replaced last year. What would be the cause of this?

The codes it’s throwing now are P106B and P1065

Abarth Reliability?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking into getting an 2017 (ish) Abarth 595 does anyone have any suggestions on what to look out for and how reliable are they? I'm coming from a 2016 Vauxhall/Opel Corsa E 1.4 which I've not had any problems with.

I just don't want to end up accidently buying a money pit lol

2014 NA Abarth 500 Clutch went to the floor

Thumbnail gallery
18 Upvotes

Recently when moving from a stop in traffic, the clutch pedal went to the floor and did not come back up. It was still in 1st gear so I left it there. Luckily I was very near my house, so I did a U-Turn and made it home in 1st. I figured it was the clutch slave and didn't bother to really look. I bought the ClutchMasters lightened flywheel (-11 lb) and 6 puck clutch plate Kit. After thinking about it, I decided to replace the clutch Master Cylinder as well as the slave. Looking at how to get the Master out today (because I heard it was not fun), I realized that the socket on the master cylinder was disconnected from the ball on the clutch pedal. The white plastic cup was broken on one side. It is common I have learned from Fiat500USA forum. One user just bought a cheap AliExpress master cylinder for $20.00, removed the plastic insert and swapped it into the old master cylinder. Good idea!

https://www.fiat500usaforum.com/forum/fiat-500-forums/fiat-500-issues-and-concerns/31108-sudden-loss-of-clutch/page2?utm_source=chatgpt.com

I found a 3 for $48.73 master cylinder deal, and went for that in case it happens again.

In the meantime until it arrives, I put an elastic band around the cup and hooked it on a tab on the other side.

3D stuff

So I got tired of waiting on parts to come back in stock and for proper stuff to be made sooo... I did a little 3d design and printing. I made a snorkle to be able to replace the ram Air piece that gets burned out. The snorkle part I designed goes from the factory 2"x4" slot shaped intake to a 3" angled portion to accept a 45° silicone elbow 3"-2 1/2" ID. No noticeable changes other than I know the motor is breathing in cooler air from what the leaking factory piping was giving it. The snorkle I designed is printed in ASA. I also got tired of not having a proper arm rest /center console so I designed one for Bianca as well. It is in PETG. Comments are welcome I just wish I could solve the damn knock sensor issues... Motor sound no different than when I got her... Anyhow enjoy

Oh I forgot to say the armrest delete plugs are a remixed part that I made large in diameter.

Car seat for cocker spaniel in Fiat Abarth 595

I know this is a long shot, but has anyone else got a suitable car seat set up in their Fiat Abarth for a medium size dog? My puppy Parsley is growing fast, he weighs 12kg now at 5 months and I want something comfortable and safe for him in the back of the car.
Thank you in advance 🤗

Faulty codes

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello, I have an Abarth 595 Competizione T-Jet, year 2022 with ~88600km on the clock. I had a P0301 and P130A faulty codes and it's working on 3 cylinders. New spark plugs, new ignition coils and the mechanic says injectors are okay. Crankshaft pulley was damaged and the new one has been put and timing belt has also been changed. And it's still working on 3 cylinders. Compression was good before and after the change on all 4 cylinders. Also the mechanic said that one fuse had blown.

What could be the problem? And did he forget or miss something?

My first 30 days

Damn! What a fun car to drive.
I have other more modern fancier car, automatic, 270hp, etc.

BUT, when I open the garage, and all I need is a quick stop at the grocery store. I go for the little beast.

Start engine, let it warm up, get the whole neighborhood know I’m around.

Go down the road on second gear, the exhaust burping on low rev.

Turn right, on first, get that turbo full for second, and just for the vrutchuchuchu…

I feel like I’m 12yo again, and all I like to do is to hear the car turbo.

Raise your glass to the 40s, to midlife crises, and to the inner children who once desired only a fun car to drive.

This car will be here for a while.

Timing belt date code?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Was about to change the timing belt kit on my Abarth as I haven’t got any proof that it has been done but before buying the parts I thought I’d check the condition of the belt. Are the numbers in the photo a date code?if so that means it’s a 2025 belt?

BBK on a budget Spoiler

Thumbnail gallery
12 Upvotes

Did a Big Brake Kit upgrade on my A500 last week and if you drive the car hard it's really worth it. Stopping power is vastly improved and brake fade is almost non-existent. There probably are better kitsout there but this was done on a tight budget and most likely better than the p&p 305mm baby brembos. I highly suggest it to anyone wanting a BBK but doesn't want to spend 1000s.

Price breakdown:

Alfa Romeo 159 calipers: 300€

Lancia Delta III 330x28mm Brembo rotors: 120€

(Those were p&p, no adapters or machine shop needed)

Custom Brake caliper adapters: 200€

ATE 13.0470-4854.2 pads: 75€

Offbrand 12mm spacers and 12x1,25x35 bolts: 45€

ATE Typ200 DOT4 Brake fluid: 60€

I paid total of 800€ which is really cheap for such an upgrade, I did the labor myself so I also saved a lot there. I plan on getting braided lines and higher quality spacers in the near future which will cost another 200€ roughly (the stock lines are probably swelling like ballons now).

Even at 1000€ which will be my final total it's very worth it for such a massive upgrade.

Timing belt, water pump, Multi-air filter replacement advice.

Post image
63 Upvotes

Soon I am replacing my timing belt, water pump, tensioner, and Multi-air oil filter Actuator on my 2013 Abarth with 93K miles.

Any advice from someone who has completed the job?
What step that surprised you?
What step had you stumped?
Anything to look out for?

Can I get away with completing the job without purchasing a cam-locking tool?

Anything helps! Thank you fellow Abarth owners and techs!

[Request] Damos / A2L / XDF for Fiat Grande Punto Abarth 1.4 T-Jet (2008), Bosch ME7.9.10

Hi everyone,

I'm working on my 2008 Grande Punto Abarth 1.4 T-Jet (155 hp) and I'm looking for a damos/A2L or an XDF/definition file for its ECU.

ECU details:

ECU: Bosch ME7.9.10 (da verificare)

Hardware number: 0261 S04 662

Software number: 1037 397 661

Fiat part number: 51847238

already have a full read of the ECU. I'm mainly interested in boost, ign

and torque limiter maps, and I want to understand the structure rather than just flash a ready-made file.

If anyone has a definition for this software version, or a close one I could adapt, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to share my findings back with the community.

Thanks!

Manual or auto Abarth 595 for resale and reliability?

I drove a manual 595 Competizione and an older automatic one this week, both around the 80,000 km mark, and now I’m stuck between the better driving experience and easier resale. The manual is a bit dearer and the auto has me wondering about long-term gearbox costs, but maybe I’m overthinking how much either matters on a small hot hatch. Which would you pick for keeping a few years?
