I hope you are doing well 🍂
We are building a small community of expecting and new moms in Basel (though not limited to Basel, as that’s simply where we live). We had our first in-person meetup a month ago, and it was a really nice event.
One of our members from Zurich has volunteered to organize an in-person meetup in Zurich. It’s a free, no-pressure get-together where you can meet other moms in the area, share ideas, ask questions, and get peer support from others who may have faced similar questions on their own journey. Of course, there will also be a nice coffee or tea, and maybe some cake ☕ 🍰
Whether you are still planning your pregnancy, at any stage of the journey, or post-delivery, you are very welcome to join.
If you’d like to come, just send me a message so I can send you updates when it's fixed and also we know there is enough members. You are also welcome to bring your kids/toddlers and your partners.
We are still planning the date, probably in November or December. I will keep you posted :) 🤗

Hi everyone!
I wanted to share my experience with the ordinary naturalisation process in Stadt Zürich so far, as I know how helpful it can be to compare timelines with others going through the same process.
After waiting for more than four months at the cantonal stage, I finally received an update that my application has moved to Prüfung Bund! 🎉
Here's my timeline:
The cantonal stage took slightly longer than the four months indicated on the canton's website.
I'm now particularly interested in what happens next.
For those who have recently gone through ordinary naturalisation in Stadt Zürich or elsewhere in Kanton Zürich:
If you're comfortable sharing your timeline with exact dates (and your municipality), that would be incredibly helpful!
Hopefully, this post will help others who are currently going through the same process.
Thanks in advance, and good luck to everyone still waiting!

I’m moving to Zurich within the next weeks. I used to play as an amateur, anyone know if and where I can find an amateur team to play? I’m 39y. Something like the lowest amateur level of football ahaha

hello,
I’d like to change my current psychiatrist since he’s not very present and made some comments I found weird.
I tried to look on onedoc but there are only a few psychiatrists accepting new patients, or as least it seems so.
does anyone here have tips? I’d prefer a female since I’m F too.
thank you so much

Hoi zäme!
Which would be your go-to bar when you want to go out after celebrating a birthday party at home, to spare the neighbours from too much, too late noise? :D looking for a Langstrasse or old town place which I could contact to ask for around 15 people coming in for the afterparty...
Alternatively, nice party locations are also welcome :) Merci villmol

Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone has experience buying last minute concert tickets from resellers that very often happens to be outside the venue on the day of the concert. What was your experience? I'd like to go see Simple Plan on Thursday but it's sold out everywhere and wouldn't mind trying my luck at the venue.

Hiya, I'm moving to Zurich temporarily in the near future and have heard quite a few times that Zurich can be a bit too... polished? I'm Swiss myself and haven't really felt this, but I also haven't lived there long enough. To be honest, I'm a bit worried I'll get a bit bored living there haha.
Super curious, but like where do all the alternative people hang out? The more underground creative nerd types? Can refer to the techie scene, art scene, music scene, etc.. as long as it's sort of alt. Thanks!

Anyone else completely done with the food delivery drivers in Zurich treating bike lanes and sidewalks like their personal racetrack?
Every single day I see these electric mopeds flying down the pedestrian and bike paths at full speed, no slowing down, no looking, just blasting past pedestrians and cyclists like we don't exist. Nearly got taken out twice last week alone. They're not even trying to use the road and there is no sound from these machines so it is extremely dangerous.
I get that they're under time pressure, but that doesn't give them the right to turn every path into a death trap. It's aggressive, reckless, and somehow always gets a free pass.

Hi guys, I (F18) am visiting my friend in Zurich this weekend for Halloween. I forgot my physical ID at home, and of course, I only have a picture on my phone. I know Zurich is pretty strict with IDs, but does anyone know any clubs or bars that aren’t? I’d also be the only one in my friend group without a physical ID card. Any recommendations or suggestions? I'm also open to Halloween events, DJ sets, or any type of music/dance scene event. Thanks!

Looking for some good thrift stores. Mostly on the hunt for clothing and jewelry. If anyone knows good underground ones please let me know. The ones in the city center are pretty overpriced so i dont mind to go a bit outside of it

I’m 26, live in Zurich and somehow realised that while I know quite a few people, I’ve never really had that small, close-knit group of guy friends that regularly hangs out and actually stays in touch.
I’m basically looking for a group of guys who have their own lives, jobs, relationships and responsibilities, but still make time for each other. The kind of friendships where you can plan something for the weekend, randomly text “beer tonight?” or “anyone up for doing something?” and actually make it happen.
Nothing complicated — grabbing a beer, going out, watching football, gaming, travelling somewhere for the weekend, trying a new restaurant, hitting the gym, going to an event or just hanging out and talking shit for a few hours.
I’d especially like to meet people who are open-minded, easy-going and actually interested in building new friendships rather than just meeting once and never speaking again.
If you’re roughly 23–32, live in Zurich or nearby and feel like your social circle could use a few new people too, feel free to reach out.
Maybe we can start with a beer, coffee or something casual and see who gets along. 🍻
A bit about me:
I’m 26, work in tech/retail and live around Zurich. I’m into technology, travelling, gaming, history, going out for drinks, trying new restaurants and occasionally doing spontaneous trips or activities. I can be pretty social, but I also enjoy just having a relaxed evening with good conversations.
Would be cool if this somehow turned into a proper group of guys who regularly do things together instead of everyone saying “we should definitely do something sometime” and then disappearing for six months. 😄

Me and a friend were heading to Basel today to watch GC vs Basel away, for context we’re 17 and 18 but not ultras or anything we were just trying to go watch a match. Anyway when we’re walking towards the platform with the Extrazug some guys wearing Fcz jackets asked us if we were going to watch football. Although we were and had scarfs in our pockets we said no and tried to walk on. About 30 seconds later 8 guys start following us, smiling and asking us if we like football. Maybe even filming, we then decided we didn’t wanna become a news story said screw this and got on the first train we saw and took it a stop. I know GC fans aren’t always saints either but it genuinely sucks that you can’t watch a football without fear of violence in Switzerland of all places. Worst part is I recognized one of the guys who has a history of arrests and violence so I’m scared I’ve been identified as a „Hopper“ and will be targeted randomly if they got our faces on video. Anyway Rant over
Had to watch it on Blue Sport in my living room in the end :/
Edit: My friend almost got beaten up on the train home from a match a few weeks ago before a policeman intervened. This was the first time we tried to go since.

I've lived in Zurich since 2021 and I'm stuck in a routine with the same market every week. Which one do you go to, and is there one stall or product you never leave without? Happy to hear about the smaller Quartier markets too.

Hallo liebi Mitzürcher!
Habe meine Lieblingshandschuhe heute im 7ner Tram verloren, ca. 19:33 beim Schwamendingerplatz, Richtung Bhf. Stettbach.

Hi Zurich!
This might be a long shot, but I'm looking for someone I saw on Saturday evening at Zähringerbar. I didn't have the courage to ask if she'd like to stay in touch, and I've been thinking about it ever since.
I've never done anything like this before, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post something like this. I hope it's okay, as I want to approach this as respectfully as possible.
I was at Zähringerbar on Saturday evening with my sister and a male friend. We were sitting at a table playing a card game.
Later that evening, a group of four came in, two women and two men. One of the women immediately caught my attention. She had incredibly long black hair, almost down to her lower back, and honestly one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen.
We exchanged glances a few times throughout the evening. At some point, they moved their table right next to ours.
When we were leaving, I noticed that her friend's jacket was on the floor, so I pointed it out. That's when she turned to me, gave me a huge smile, thanked me and wished me a lovely evening.
That was the moment I wish I'd asked if she'd like to stay in touch. But I got nervous and didn't.
A little description, in case she or someone from her group reads this:
She looked around 25–28 years old, had very long black hair, East Asian features (I hope that's an okay way to describe it), and a smile that's honestly hard to forget. The group was speaking English, but she also replied to me in German.
And to recognise me: I was the guy in a wheelchair, wearing a green fleece jacket, black trousers and with dark brown hair.
I'm not asking anyone to share her personal information. But if you happen to know her, maybe you could show her this post and let her decide if she'd like to get in touch.
And if you're reading this yourself: I'd really love to get to know you. Maybe we could grab a drink sometime?
Thanks for reading, and I hope you had a lovely evening!

Hi! I’m 36F and have been living in Switzerland for many years, but most of my friends have moved away lately. I find it really hard to make friends here and build real connections. I’m looking for ladies who enjoy running, traveling, cinema, coffee/brunch/matcha, city walks and good chats about life. Above all, happy vibes!
Women only please 💙 Feel free to comment or DM me!

Neu gilt ab 1. Januar 2027:
https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/de/mobilitaet/parkieren/parkkartenverordnung.html
---
As this is very good urban policy, I am not allowed to get mad at this even though it is moderately inconvenient for me personally lol.
Anyway, I have a question:
"Eine Parkkarte wird nur erteilt, wenn am Wohn- bzw. am Geschäftssitz kein privater Parkplatz, beispielsweise ein Garagen- oder Aussenabstellplatz, zur Verfügung steht. "
My building does have an underground car park, but it is not included with the flat. The spots are rented out separately, even to non-residents, I think, so theoretically they could all be taken. One could argue that if I have to rent it at extra cost, or all places are taken, it isn't "zur Verfügung". How do they want to check that?
What do you think? My interpretation is probably too optimistic, as the goal is to force you to use the private parking, but it seems a bit ambivalent.

Anyone here working for the Kanton? How is the work-life-balance? How does your salary compare to the Privatwirtschaft? Would you still move to the Kanton if you knew then what you know now?
I’m working in Finance and usually happy with my job. Stress is OK. Salary/Bonus is OK. But no inflation adjustment or salary raise in 4 years. Recognition in words is there, but again, not in the shape of a raise or promotion. Promotion not likely in the next 3 years, which bothers me. Regarding liking the job, some parts of the job are fun/interesting, others less so. And every quarter there’s at least one occurance where I want to quit on the spot, but then calm down and decide to stay. The people in the team are amazing.
I'm trying to buy a concert ticket from a private seller on Tutti that lives in the Zürich area. Unfortunately, I don't have a Swiss phone number, which seems to be required to make an account.
Anyone any idea of what I could try?

Kurze Umfrage zu ME/CFS in Zürich und Umgebung 🇨🇭
Hallo zusammen! 👋
🔹 Ich habe selbst ME/CFS.
