I choose to ignore that for the sake of the cute comic, even if in universe it doesn’t make sense. A lot of stuff here can be seen like that honestly. I get being miffed by it though

Nah in breath of the wild it's also confirmes he is mute, in one of the memory or whatever it's call it's been a while, Zelda tell that link become mute after being so stress about the pressure following his dad footstep, so it's 2 link 😄

He's not mute, he made a vow of silence. He is physically free to speak any moment he wants (if he decides to break his vow), and, in fact, does so.
Were he physically mute, had the stress and responsibility fucked up his larynx or his brain, he wouldn't be able to talk 100 years later. Yet, he does.
In Echoes of Wisdom, it is different. He is PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of speech, and only regains it after magical shennanigans and the slaying of Null.

It's also a big point in BOTW that Link, after waking up in the shrine of resurrection, pretty much doesn't shut up anymore because he doesn't remember that entire "I have become silent due to the pressure" thing anymore
