The new DW 72-600 is really good! The systems, performance, flight model, cabin, lighting, textures, and overall attention to detail are all very impressive.

For a day-one release, I think this aircraft is a big W! I've completed a couple of flights with Binter so far, and I've encountered zero bugs and stutters. The frame rates have been smooth, and everything has worked flawlessly.

This aircraft is on a completely different level compared to the Asobo ATR. DeltaWing has done a fantastic job, and I can highly recommend purchasing the DW 72-600. It's definitely worth the money!

Addon Aircraft How Is The DeltaWing ATR? Has Anyone Gotten Their Hands It Yet?

Hello!

As the title suggests, I was curious to know if anyone on this subreddit has already purchased the ATR 72-600 by DeltaWing. I’m aware of their CRJs from the past, which is why I’m a little sceptical about this one.

I’m a penny-pincher when it comes to flight simulation, and have no pay-ware aircraft apart from the FF777-300ERv2 expansion and almost never buy any add-ons (scenery, aircraft, plug-ins)

Recently, I’ve been really keen to fly some short regional flights, ideally under 1 hour long. So far, I only have the Zibo 737 and the FF777v2. Over the past few months, I have been eyeing two aircraft in general: the ERJ-145 by X-Crafts and Q400 by FlyJSim. Now that the ATR has released, I am given one more option, which also appeals to me.

To my understanding, the Q400 is a tad more realistic, but it’s also an older product and the price tag is also a little higher which might make it the better choice at first, but, I also, I really like the ATR in general a lot, and here where I live, more operators seemed to use the ATR rather than the Q400.

While I know it’s a little early to ask this, my question is: how good is the DeltaWing ATR 72? I definitely won’t be buying it immediately, and I would really only consider it on sale.

If anyone who already owns the ATR would like to share their experience using it, I’m more than happy to read it!

Cheers

What draws you to classic airliners?

I noticed that a lot of people enjoy flying planes like the 737-200 or the 747-200, so I was wondering - what makes you prefer them over more modern birds?

Personally I find the fact that you are learning to fly something that is obsolete and is no longer in active use, or is in very limited use, a little demotivating. Of course you could argue that whatever you learn is of no use anyway since it's just a flight sim and most of us are not RL pilots, but still I'm much more motivated to learn about planes that I can actually encounter at the airport.

EDIT: thank you for all the replies! yes, I figured it would be something along the lines of what most people said, older planes keeping them more engaged and thus feeling more satisfying with a job well done. i guess that I still haven't accrued enough flight hours to get bored of the new automated stuff and the "magenta line"! But then again, you can, and I sometimes do, fly raw data in a modern plane as well. Maybe I decide to try a true classic one day too!

XPME crashes sim

Hello!

Was just wondering if anyone else has had issues with Map Enhancement, and it crashing your simulator. Would love to hear some potential fixes. Also off topic can't wait for the full release of the falcon or the next time it goes back on sale, it looks promising.

Help Request Constant VK_ERROR_DEVICE_LOST errors on 12.4.4-b5

I'm having this issue everytime I fly longer than 30 minutes.

Im on Xplane 12.4.4-b5, RTX 4090 24GB, 64GB Ram, AMD 9800X3D. I've tested Nvidia drivers 617.42 and 610.88. Im currently using XPME.

I flew from KMDW to KMSP twice and crashed both times around the 30 minute mark. I've never had this type of crash before so it was suprising to me. I checked my frame rate and it was sitting around 50-60 FPS during both crashes. It didn't seem VRAM or RAM related but Im not sure. My log from the second crash is below. Anybody else seeing this?

This is just a showcase of a technical demo of what it's possible to do in X-Plane using Claude for plugin development for flight sims.

There is so much work to fix and implement, including models, functions, sounds. But I can't wait to share it with you and from now will give you regular updates on the progress.

Please feel free to share your comments and critiques; they are a vital part of developing any plugin. Although I am ensuring the project is as "clean" as possible in terms of licensing—using only CC0-licensed assets (textures, sounds, models), which permit commercial use I have decided to make this plugin publicly available as an open-source project on GitHub. There is no set date for its public release yet, but it will not happen before 2027.

Tutorial Free primer on aerobatic flight for simmers - principles, exercises and the basic Aresti figures (PDF)

Hello r/Xplane,

I turned my studies on aerobatic flying into a short book, and I have just released it for free. It is written for flight simulation only.

It does not hand you a list of figures to copy. It starts from what is underneath and builds up from there:

  • Principles: energy management, angle of attack, load factor, what each control really does, and how to read the horizon and the wingtips to judge your attitude
  • Exercises: lines, rolls, steep turns (with accelerated stall recovery), stalls and spin recovery
  • Figures: aileron roll, slow roll, barrel roll, loop, hammerhead, tail-slide, spin and snap roll, each with its Aresti symbol

There is also a one-page kneeboard card with the entry parameters of the exercises.

The principles are not tied to any sim, though. If you fly aerobatics in X-Plane, I would really like to know which aircraft you use, and whether anything in the book does not match what you see in the sim.

Free, CC BY-NC-SA 4.0. Corrections are very welcome, here or as a GitHub issue.

Heyo,

So I got the FF777 and the cockpit window reflection is really annoying I tried looking on the efb to remove it. any idea how it's getting annoying tbh especially at night and also window's tint so dark that I can barely see anything outside at night.

Thanks

OpenSceneryX website issue?

Hi, I am finally at the point in X plane where I am downloading payware and freeware. I am trying to get some airports and they require OpenSceneryX but whenever I try to go the site to download it this keeps popping up. I am not sure if this is some sort of website failure or a virus thing. It gives me these issues on all the browsers that I have tried which are Chrome, Firefox and, internet explorer. Your help is appreciated.

Hardware Is the Thrustmaster TCA Sky Yoke compatible with Mac and X-Plane 12?

I'm a student pilot looking to buy a yoke to support my flight training. I have an M1 MacBook Pro and plan to use X-Plane 12. The Logitech G Flight Yoke is listed as Mac-compatible, but I'm planning to buy a PS5 soon, so I'm considering the Thrustmaster TCA Sky Yoke instead.

Can anyone confirm whether the Sky Yoke works with an M1 MacBook Pro running X-Plane 12?
