Herrenvolk is eliminated! That brings us into the top half of the season with the bottom half now eliminated.
How this works:
You select the episode you like the least
The episode with the most upvoted comment is eliminated from the list
Please either refrain from downvoting or upvote more episodes than you downvote
If there’s a tie, both episodes are eliminated
Only the best episode will win!

I’m on holiday in Prague and I came by an I Want To Believe poster today😅 I believe it’s an ad by the city for its canalization workers and system?
I thought it was hilarious and thought you might appreciate - and shout out to the czech people for obviously being so X-Files-aware that you can plaster this ad all over the city 🤝🙂↕️
I have nowhere else to share this but I'm so proud of it 🥹 The dachsund was a little pricey but I felt it was spot on Scully so I had to get her, and the cross reminded me of her necklace. The height difference in these molds also ended up being perfect. I love msr 🛸💗🐝👽

I honestly Started watching the show for MSR and I tried finding IWTB with all the romance bits but when I tried to find it online it was the director‘s cut I think? Anyway the one where all the romance bits were cut out.
it seems it’s not available on streaming websites so in this day and age how can I get hold of it?

It's October 27, 1996.
Your neighborhood's Halloween decorations are up, yellow leaves carpet the ground, only a few still on their branches. You just got home with your family from a trip to Sears, where you picked out your Darth Vader costume. Star Wars Shadows of the Empire was huge for kids your age -- a Nintendo 64 game, a book, and non-stop commercials hyping up the rerelease of A New Hope. Halloween is on Thursday this week, but right now, all you're thinking about is turning on the TV. America's Funniest Home Videos, back-to-back Treehouse of Horror episodes, and then The X-Files.
30 years ago today, The X-Files moved from Friday nights to Sunday. Friday was tough for primetime, with families going out to dinner, movies, high school football games. It was called the Friday night death slot, its shows destined for cancellation. Still, The X-Files had persevered, growing from 10 to 19 million viewers through three seasons.
The season three finale, Talitha Cumi, was seen by nearly 18 million people, ending with a great cliffhanger. The next episode, Herrenvolk broke the show's previous record, hitting 21 million viewers. Episode 2, Home, got it's first of only two broadcasts, still known as a shocking episode today.
This was all leading to a seismic shift in The X-Files' popularity. The fourth episode of the season was moved to Sunday night.
I love the episode, Unruhe, even if it breaks the mold a bit. While it does keep a creepy supernatural element with the psychic photography, to me it feels more akin to the psychological horror of the time: the disturbed serial lobotomist, and the thrilling climax, both remind me of Clarice's encounters with Buffalo Bill.
This was also one of Vince Gilligan's early episodes. His previous episode, Pusher, had one of the most emotionally intense scenes in the series, and Unruhe continued this trajectory. This was where Gilligan started writing regularly for the series. It was both a massive addition to the talented pool of writers, and a landmark moment for Gilligan's career that in no small way lead to the eventual creation of Breaking Bad. (Aside: Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris, and Raymond Cruz were all in both shows.)
The Sunday time slot took the show to new heights in popular culture. There were far bigger shows -- ER and Seinfeld were juggernauts, like 30m people watching -- but they were for normies. Little else in mainstream popular culture of 1996 was so edgy: on TV, it was sitcoms and (largely) milquetoast family dramas; The Macarena spent over a year in the Billboard Top 100. (This isn't to say that 1996 didn't have other successful, edgy productions: 12 Monkeys, Marilyn Manson, Duke Nukem, heroine...)
Anyways, that shift to Sunday might be why we have a subreddit for The X-Files today. Even though it had weathered three seasons in the Friday night death slot, it's hard to say how much longer it could have lasted, and it almost certainly wouldn't have broken into the mainstream. It's a testament to the show's genius: great writing, novel episodes, a perfect balance of edge and heart, all made it one of the few shows ever to reach escape velocity and moved out of Friday nights.

Repost because maybe there’s spoilers in the following, I’m not sure.
Longtime horror and sci fi fan but have never really been into the X-Files.
I have a very emotionally charged memory of watching this episode on TV (Fox, I believe?) as a very young kid and it really stuck with me. I stayed up late watching it and after finishing the episode I told my dad I was scared and he was upset at me for watching TV late.
I can’t remember what the episode was about exactly. But I remember it had a the imagery of a heart beating. Outside of someone’s body, perhaps in a box or a safe. And the heart was somehow tied to the actions of one of the characters. It seemed to be very central to the essence of this episode.
Does this ring a bell for anyone?
Thank you ahead of time! My plan is to rewatch it and maybe unpack some childhood trauma lol

Just finished “Jump the Shark” (S9 E15) and feeling kind of sad. Loved the TLG especially Langly. He is wearing his Joey Ramone t shirt and strikes back at Morris with:
“Joey Ramone was the leader of the greatest punk rock band in human history. You want to know why Joey Ramone is my hero? ‘Cause people like you never managed to grind him down. They never stole his spirit. He never gave in, never gave up, and never sold out. Right till his last breath. And he’s not dead. Guys like that? They live forever.” And he’s not wrong.
RIP Langly, Byers, and Frohike.😢

Eight years ago today (thank you automated "memories" on my phone!), I got to meet this great cast! That day was the happiest fangirl day I've ever had! I had heard about Cons during the original run, but thought "I'm not a big enough geek" to go, and regretted it for 20+ years! So when I saw everuone was going to be at SpookyEmpire in Orlando, I booked a flight!
I'll never forget DD trying to talk to me, and me just being like "OMG, he's not supposed to have a conversation with me" and freezing up!! 🙃 😅 AND Mitch telling me not to hold it against him when I nodded at him and said "Samuel" (from "Supernatural") and him laughing. And y'all, I hugged CSM!!! He was so sweet and kind and funny!
I just had to share with you all, since you can appreciate how it would feel!

Why do LGM call each other by their last names? I get why Mulder and Scully do it but I have no idea why LGM do that.
