Fist Time Watcher part 9

I feel like every season just gets better and better. This season definitely had some of the best monsters of the week. This will be another hard one for a top 10.

Lets start with the mythology episodes The Beginning and the two parter Two Fathers/ One son, Biogenesis were so good! Im just slightly confused to how many species of alien is there. Also there is a lot of loopholes which im ok with because I feel it leaves room to brach off the story line. I am confused however of Casandra Spender... is she dead DEAD? Because isnt she an alien hybrid which makes her harder to kill or simply immortal? I do like the shift of the mythology in Biogenesis. The colonizers to the creators in which I myself believe in. Especially after watching that Nick Cage movie, Knowing. I cant wait to see how the storyline unfolds in Season 7.

Finally I was right when it comes to Mulder and Scully's relationship which I am beginning to be very invested in. Its just hard not to. These two incredibly attractive people, single and very dependent on each other. They are just bound to end up together, right? god i hope im right and neither of them die. Id be crushed.

Anyway, I was right that after the almost kiss in the movie. These two now know how they feel about one another. Definitely more flirty especially when they're undercover in Arcadia. Just lots of hinting of where this relationship is goin. The foreshadowing speech that Scully gives to Sheila in Rain King. Mulder kissing an alternate Scully and says I LOVE YOU to the real one. How many of you think he meant it or we buying that Scully is convinced hes loopy off his meds? In Alpha, Scully is very territorial of Mulder and then we see the tables turn in Milagro. Which OMG this episode was so good! We get to see how Scully finally breaks down her barrier and accept Mulders comfort. The Unnatural being a really good story, it has the perfect ending. I did enjoy watching another side of Mulder where he takes Human Connection over obsession. The symbolism with Exley and his love for baseball and that final scene also mirrors that transition of the alienated outsiders (Mulder and Scully in the basement) to a warm human companionship. Mulder shares something deeply personal of his inner child with Scully. I enjoyed it so much.

Honorable mention: Tithonus (Did it just hint that Scully is immortal? or is it just me that got that?)

Dreamland 1 & 2 was actually hilarious!

As I said this list was very hard for me. Not one bad episode in my opinion. Let me know what think or had something completely different. Happy Monday!

6 is a wild ride! We are happy, we are sad, we are…confused. lol I’ve seen a lot of opinions that it’s not as great as 1-5, and I would agree there are a lot changes, but I personally love it. I think 7 is going to blow your mind.

I was surprised to see no Triangle?! I know you said it was tough to choose though. Did you like it? It’s definitely one of my favorites of the entire series, but there are many who don’t like it. Milagro, Arcadia, and Rain King are also in my top 10 overall.

I got so confused when you said Part 9, I was thinking season 9 ha - not your fault, you did use the correct flair, I just found it funny, since it's been a while since my last watch-through and I just kept staring like I was crazy. Caught it in the comments before hitting up Google lol.

Again: totally my fault, just thought someone would get a laugh out of it - and yes, I have three advanced degrees but I reserve the right to be a complete idiot sometimes, staring like a deer in headlights.

IMO Casandra is dead, burnt and killed along with most of the Syndicate.

Successful hybrids have healing and regenerative powers, and the aliens themselves can reanimate the dead, but at the same time, they can be killed, so IMO they're not literally immortal (though, from a certain point of view, I suppose you can argue they are).

This is your first viewing and you're picking up on all of this? The Cassandra stuff confuses most people the first time they watch season 6 (a lot of the scenes clarifying her powers and story were cut for time; she can even shapeshift, according to deleted scenes, which is how she escapes the "female" alien FBI agent tasked to guard her in the hospital).

Not one bad episode in my opinion.

I think Carter tried really hard to keep the quality high in season 6 and 8, knowing that fans would be resistant to the shift to California, and Duchovny's partial absence. There's an extra level of polish and effort in those seasons IMO.

I also don't think their are bad episodes in season 6. I used to dislike "Alpha", but even that's not too bad (and we get a nice, rare appearance of Jealous Scully).

IMO this is not a shift. There are books left on desks in season 2 that sort of foreshadow this, the hybrids have had powers evocative of the Biblical god for a while, and "The Beginning" hints that humans are "alien" and so "created" by them. You are right, though, that "Biogenesis" goes heavy on this.

I feel we can answer this question, and spoil everything, and you'd be even more confused than you are now.
