Let's not overreact
We actually dominated this game but failed in the last 3rd. Patterson made HUGE saves. Honestly sometimes its just not your night. We need to stop winging and lock in for the long term. This sport is so fickle...lets accept that. We go again next week go dragons.

We actually dominated this game
There were stretches but no. one on target. no big chances. Even going back to last week, the Moore long shot was the only reason they had a chance to win against West Brom. They had a good 2nd half against Derby County who are poor and it took Ollie in the 88th minute to take a point. They are struggling to take three from the Blackburn, Watford, and Cardiff who are probably going to be fighting for relegation at the end of the season. Burnley was off to a slow start and Wrexham did nothing. I watch enough sports and know what xBA is in baseball and xG is a helpful stat but fans in both sports misinterpret it. Games/Matches aren't won by computer metrics. They can be dominating the xG but they are failing the eye test. They put no pressure on the keeper.
21st in shots on target per match. 23rd in big chances. 24th in big chances missed. 16th in touches in the oppo box. I understand that it is a dozen games with injuries but spots can be lost this early if change is continually delayed. It is not just one match. This team should be mid table or close to the playoffs with the resources they have.
Patterson made HUGE saves.
He cost £8m. 61.7% save which is 17th. The first goal was not hardly hit and he perry instead of catching and they got the rebound. While the back line has had it's problems. A few good saves doesn't change the fact that he is not making the routine plays and critics are failing to see the value.
Honestly sometimes its just not your night.
It has not been your night since last March. There are draws that should be wins. Losses that should have been draws. If they tried their best and the other team does a smash and grab, we move on. That is not what is happening. There are too many tough afternoons and nights. Sure, they aren't going to beat West Ham but they were blown out 6 nil. They are struggling against clubs that are projected to be in a relegation scrap.
We need to stop winging and lock in for the long term.
Well, who is in charge of tactics and gameplanning? Parky. Know when the ride is over and that this is the farthest a manager can carry him. There is a reason why Phil has spent most of his career in League One and League Two. I have the utmost respect for him and his time here. Every club has injuries but the tactics are stubborn for this level and I don't want to give him another window with the recent signings. It is not a knee jerk response from one match but for the last 8 months. Almost 5.5 seasons is insanely long for a manager in this sport. He is not Sir Alex or Klopp for christ sake. He has never managed at the top end of the Championship consistently and he's not going to take them any further.

Ahh yes 50/50 possession, 0 big chances, Rovers keeper made zero saves and just 1 shot on target for Wrexham.
24 shots but only 1 on target does not = dominated.
Look at the stats. Wrexham did more defending. Had to make more recoveries, more tackles, more duels. Thats not a team "dominating"

People consistently underestimate how challenging the Championship is, top to bottom. Wrexham got here ahead of schedule and has been trying to rebuild on the fly. In the Championship, being able to spend big money isn’t enough. You have to have the right combination of talent and tactics, and you have to be able to adapt week to week. Tactically, Parky has never been at the level of a high end Championship or Premier League manager. During his time at Wrexham, he’s had way more talent to work with than his opposition… until the Championship. The team over-performed last season and it’s hard to get that to happen every season.

Parky has a 22W-19D-17L record as our manager in this league. Mid-table-ish, but decidedly winning more than losing. The Parky-out and sky-is-falling crowd have a tougher case to make than the "it's early, let's get some more injured players back, and be patient" crowd has.

It’s all about stated goals and expectations. If the stated goal is getting to the Premier League, Parky is not the one to get them there. If it’s staying in the Championship, then he’s perfectly capable

We didn’t dominate this game the stats don’t lie. It was very even the difference was one very good striker who is on fire at the moment.

No one should take one game and make any conclusions. That is indeed stupid.
However, the facts don't point to the issues being limited to "this just wasn't our night"
-
Patterson isn't showing hes much (if any) of an upgrade on Arthur. Recruiting generally was OK, but in no way dazzling. The gap between the "we are here to get promoted" and the actual recruitment is noticeable.
-
3 wins from 12 and we have played a lot of the arse end teams.
-
Far too often the players look tired and lack effort. Thats not a skill issue thats a motivation issue. Not saying thats not the players fault, but its also not something you see in winning teams.
You can say lets not overreact , but what is the correct reaction? I think its totally fair to stay in the Championship, its a great league and historically a high watermark for the team, but the owners and management are setting expectations they currently are way off. The spend and the hype compared to the results are way out of whack.
It's not over reacting to say this is a solid mid table team and performing well below (the management set) expectations

Wow, I absolutely do not see that one bit. I suspect I am far from alone.

"we have played a lot of the arse end teams" exactly who the arse end teams in your view ? the ones that have been able to live and compete at this level for years without vanity project dollars ?
Maybe it's time to realise you are just another team at this level ?

I don't really know what eyeball metric you are using to measure "dominated this game". By no stretch other than a few small pockets were we ever in control of that game.

I'm getting I bit tired of hearing 'we dominated the game', when we don't or we 'should have won, we were the better team', when we weren't.
Blackburn beat us. They were a better team with a better plan, they executed to success. Again, Wrexham has a team of players that are much better than they are showing. Make of that what you will.

Look at sam smiths heat map, and playing stats. Then compare it with two other players. Cr7 and moore. Smith isnt cristiano, yet he just waiting for a ball like him. Zero team help overall. Yet moore is acting like harry kane and its showing. There is a known issue with playing with a low milage covering player who doesnt drop back. Just look at rm, nassr, miami….playing with a player like that doesnt work and sam isnt even at the level where u can argue its okay. Annnnnnd if the manager told him too, well then thats on both of them cause its a well discussed problem even within RM that KM not defending is a problem and the other two are 40.

there is definitely an overreaction. according to some fans Wrexham will go down or I'm a relegation battle. a win on Friday and it will be Parky in again from the fans that say Parky out.

True maybe, but the likelihood of going to Sheffield and winning is very low.

Last season Wrexham did the double over Sheffield United. A win is needed with Middelsborough and Wolves after that match.

As long as Keifer Moore is the #1 target up front it'll be like this. He has moments, but for the most part he's a waste of space. He gives up the ball so easily, 75% of the time he doesn't know what to do with it when he gets it. He misses shots he's supposed to make. Twice in the game against Albion he opted to kick the ball into he defender for a corner instead of trying to continue the play or do something creative. I know he's "good" but he's not THAT good. He's definitely not a player to build a team around like Paul Mullin was in the lower divisions. Sam Smith is more energetic, better on the ball, and more creative. I'd rather see him paired with O'Hare and Windass (when he returns). Keifer makes us so so so so one dimensional. Just my opinion, happy to hear others' takes.

I really am getting tired of people saying that about so many of our games.
We didn't dominate the game. We had a lot of shots, 1 on target, cleared by their defence, but the keeper didn't have to make a single save. We were taking pot shots and getting nowhere.
Our attack is poor, and we brought no one in over the summer to improve it, that's down to Parky. Tactically, we're poor and one dimensional, again, that's down to Parky.
People say would should give him time and wait and see but if we wait we'll be in a relegation battle instead of playoff challenge.
