If you didn't know, Wildbow has confirmed that Worm is getting a comic adaptation by IDW. It will be released in May of next year. This will surely create an influx of new members of the Worm community and new fanfic authors as well. Wildbow mentioned that some designs may not be what people expect and will be different from what fan artists have made (he said Panacea and Regant came to mind), so I think it might be cool to have official designs. I personally can't wait to see it.

For those who aren't aware I Want to Help is a post GM fic where Taylor is dropped into the MCU about a year or so before Banner became the Hulk and in a manner that got her immediately snapped up by S.H.I.E.L.D (Contessa threw her onto the windshield of a quinjet).

She joins S.H.I.E.L.D and begins helping out while keeping the full extent of her powers secret. What I really liked about this one was how well it did at integrating Taylor into this world in a way that allowed her to be influential without feeling like the plot was completely bending around her.

She missed things. She occasionally got outplayed or made a mistake, but she also showed just how dangerous an experienced superhuman could be in a world just barely starting out.

There are a couple of scenes with both sides reacting to high-level bullshit from each other's side and having a bit of a freakout.

I am hoping to find other fics like that. Escalation City (Yu-Gi-Oh crossover), A Hero's Retirement (Dispatch) and Exodus (Big Hero 6) are other ones I know of although they still have a sense of Taylor as an outsider, at least for much of the early fic, whereas I Want To Help pretty quickly gets to her being more grown up, mentally stable, and integrated into her new home. Which is really the vibe I am hoping to find, but I will take anything along the lines of any of those fics.

I guess Sect is also kinda like this albiet from a very different genre.

Remember it being on Spacebattles; SI woke up as in the hospital as Taylor post locker. Shadow Stalker came to kill her before she could talk; dies in return and the MC makes it look like she triggered during the attack by putting knife in her own leg and nearly bleeds out because of it.

As a reader of worm from Taylor's eyes we always see Lisa as a good friend and although she uses secrets to destroy people as Taylor we are made to believe that she's only doing to help or protect the undersides but we know Lisa can be a vicious Bitch and being friends with Taylor She had to want try and take care of Taylor

So is there any fic like that where Tattletale gets Revenge on her Behalf like knowing what the trio did but unlike Taylor who eventually Grows past them Lisa has no such problem and is actively trying to Riun them

I think she put Murder Rat out of her misery after getting to Brockton?

Looking for a fic where Taylor has a fight scene with similar vibes to the Mr.Terrific scene from Superman.

I've been out of the fandom for a while and got pulled back in by that Mama Mathers alt!power Taylor. Anything good from the last couple of years? Assume I have either read or am aware enough of to now want to read anything before that.

ShaneT wrote the absolute first worm fanfic I ever got into Kill Them All. It was admittedly not the best work ever but for what it was it succeeded at. It was stompy and enjoyable through and through.

Recently for the past 2 weeks or so I’ve been toying with an idea inspired by the idea of that story with the way gamers mind work how Taylor grows and the big bad quest? However it’s also a JoJo fusion.

This was originally going to be a personal project however with ShaneT’s unfortunate passing (Rest his soul.) I was having second thoughts would this be immature to post a fic inspired by his work a week after his passing? Or should I scrap this idea entirely.

I don’t claim to know him so I don’t know his views on this but I was hoping for anyone that knew the proper etiquette and general ethics around such a predicament?

(Ps: I loved all his works my Favorite were Kill Them All, Intuition, and Elixir. Kill Them All was an amazing experience for such a long time that I reread it three times! Intuition introduced me to an amazing show and explored some non Taylor specific out world situations. Elixir was newer but it used a much more grounded approach and it was much more satisfying to watch how Shane’s growth and writing style had changed especially with the arcs!)

I remember reading about this one fic that was like the x files but with parahumans I don't remember many details but I know they had hookwolf in the 1600s

Caught up right to a cliffhanger and now I want more kinda. the dynamic and stuff is cool and all which I would appreciate reading things like it, but i mainly want something with characters in a similar style of actual general competence and morals without completely sacrificing their characters. Or in simpler terms the characters not being stupid for plot and still making canon typical mistakes, or just a similar writing style in general.

Alternatively dynamics like that between shirou and Tanya would be interesting or like either one of them individually with wards and how they handle them.

To clarify i don’t want both(though that miracle would be nice) any fic that does one of these things would be an appreciated recommendation.

Something I’ve found both in canon and in many fanon works (increasingly noticeable now that I’m working on my own stuff and trying to put together a calendar) is that everything happens way too fast. Like you look at all the events taking place and go “wow, there was so much here, and the characters have developed so much” and it’s been less than a month, or some Alt-Power Taylor gets a normally okay at best power and she’s already killed an Endbringer (or Scion) within three weeks while also having enough time to get into a proper in depth relationship with someone she barely knows, and reconcile with her father somehow, just too many things happening in too short a timeframe and nobody addresses how quickly it’s all going.

Ahem.

So, uh… I want some fics that don’t do that! Give me a nice long timeframe, lots of opportunities for things to settle in, all the good stuff. Good pacing and calendar stuff. The works.

The fic is a snippet with only a couple chapters. Taylor triggers from the Siberian killing Annette and Danny and Hero right in front of her.

I just really like her character, but I can't recall having seen her in Worm, except maybe in one of the big multi-crosses as a one-off thing. I'm curious if there's been any stabs at a story where she's more of a constant/recurring presence. Maybe offering therapy to a Taylor that won't stay dead or something?

My favorite is from the fic Plan, What Plan?.

The context you need to know is that the main character is an SI, he's going to Arcadia and is in the Dallon/Wards friend group, but they don't know that he knows their identities.

It comes up that Dean's birthday is in about a month, and the MC is invited. He then has an idea. He asks Vicki about a Wards event at the mall next weekend, and then asks what Dean's favorite Ward is, so that he can get him some signed merch. Vicki is 100% on board with this, obviously, and gives him the information he needs. And so the next weekend our MC walks up to Gallant with some merch and kindly asks him to make out the signature to his friend Dean Stansfield.

We get a second hit of the humor of this situation some chapters later when the birthday party finally happens, and literally everybody in the know has to pretend not to lose their shit when Dean opens the present and has to pretend to be surprised and thankful for the MC's gift. (the same birthday party also included Dennis giving Dean a mood ring as a gift, so our protagonist wasn't the only one with jokes)
