Fashion and Beauty Can anyone recommend a hairdresser in Dublin, Meath or Kildare who is genuinely amazing at cutting hair?

Hi ladies!

Can anyone recommend a really good hairdresser in Dublin, Meath or Kildare who actually specialises in cutting hair?

I'm honestly so fed up with paying good money for awful haircuts. I recently got my hair cut into a lob, and to say it's uneven would be an understatement. The stylist didn't even bother checking the cut afterwards to make sure it was level.

I know some hairdressers are brilliant at colour and blow-dries, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're great at cutting. I'm specifically looking for someone who's exceptionally skilled at cutting, has a great eye for detail and can give a really precise, well-balanced cut.

I'm more than happy to travel and pay for someone who's genuinely worth it. I just want to find a hairdresser who really knows how to cut hair properly!

Would love to hear your recommendations, particularly if you've had a consistently great experience with someone.

Thanks a million! 😊

I've been thinking about getting a boob job for a while now and I know going for a consultation will give me the details on what will suit my body. What I'm wondering is has anyone here got it done in Ireland and what has your experience/recovery been like? Anytime I try to look up reviews or vlogs they've been done outside of Ireland and I'd like to get it done here ā˜ŗļø Thanks in advance and I hope this post isn't breaking any rules!

Chat and Craic Sunday Scaries is here - share your worries and allow your mind be cleared!

As suggested in our recent feedback thread, this is your weekly space to rant and vent before the week even begins especially if you’re already exhausted by a week that hasn’t started yet.

If the dread is starting to creep in about the week ahead, work, appointments, emails life responsibilities or just the general ugh of it all.. This is the place to dump it.

Say what you’re worried about, what you’re overthinking or what you’re really not bothered dealing with tomorrow. No judgement, no advice unless you ask for it. Just get it off your chest so you can properly switch off and enjoy a bit of rest before Monday rolls back around.

Only rule: keep it respectful and within the subreddit rules.

Fashion and Beauty Recommendations for undershirts made for women?

I have some nice merino wool jumpers and now that we're firmly in Autumn, I want to wear them. In the past, my jumpers eventually get ruined through either deodorant or sweat stains.

I figure a nice, light but fitted t-shirt will protect the jumper. But all the women's stuff is vests which won't protect the underarm. The only fitted ones with sleeves seem to be thermal.

I don't sweat a lot but it's inevitable during the colder months when you're stuck on a warm bus or in a warm office.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Edit: thanks for all the great suggestions.

Fashion and Beauty Custom Dress

Does anyone have any experience with getting a dress made with a dressmaker (specifically in Cork)?

I'm due to attend a wedding in 3 weeks and just found the perfect dress on Azazie but the estimated delivery is 2 days after the wedding and there's no rush option šŸ˜ž

Would love to get something similar made so if anyone has any experience or recommendations please share!

How much did it cost approximately?

How long did it take?

Was the dressmaker willing to make a dress similar to an existing dress from a brand?

Any specific dressmaker to recommend?

Fashion and Beauty Need a dress

Hi. I am searching whilst not yet in a panic. Looking for a summer dress to wear to an occasion. Pockets, midi length for a short 5'5" woman. Chunkier that I would like to be, gen X. Looking for something kinda quirky, not outrageous but definitely colourful or unique. I've looked on Next, H&M, M&S, and where I live there is just nothing wonderful. I see Disturbia dresses are gorgeous. Anyone here bought from this site? What are the charges like? Any other not crazy priced options out there? Budget up to €100. Nowadays that's not a lot but it's what I'm working with. Checking charity shops, I don't have vinted or those kind of apps. Any or all help would be amazing. Looking for knee length to shin. Please help a lost soul, floundering in the world of wanting to look good with chronic illness and no sense of mid life style. Thanks so much to Any good soul who gets this far. X.

Fashion and Beauty Sculpted by Aimee HydraTint Change?

Just wondering if anyone else has been using Hydratint and noticed a change in formula or something over the past month or so?

I’d been using it for about a year or so now with no issues! Bought a new bottle there about 3-4 weeks ago and had a massive break out - proper contact dermatitis that took a trip to the docs and a couple different creams to clear.

Was chatting to my friends and 3 of them who use it had similar thing happen too and had bought a new bottle of it over the past month!

Just wondering if anyone else had something similar happen? I know there was a change to a lot of products due to the EU ban on certain ingredients so maybe it’s from that? Not really sure whether to contact them or not to tell them.

Other How are other cold people surviving winter?

I can’t stand the cold. My house is fine and I’m warm at home. Outside is a different story, I genuinely can’t function. Today I was in the city and I had to nearly stay mute just to focus on staying warm.

It makes me hate socialising outdoors in the winter. I’m thinking I need to invest in proper branded coats etc to be able to make it more manageable. I can’t spend half the year hating life and suffering šŸ˜…

Any ladies know warm/thermal/down coats that aren’t really ugly looking? But do the job? (Uniqlo/Colombia/Northface/Regatta?)
Or scarves / gloves / socks etc?
Thermal leggings? Any other hacks for keeping a bit of heat?

Thank you!šŸ¤—

Other Body care recommendations

I’m living in Galway and I’ve gotten quite tanned, and I’d love to get my natural skin tone back. I’m looking for recommendations for bodycare that can help reduce a tan safely.
Has anyone tried any good tan removal creams?

if you’ve tried any products that actually worked, please let me know! I’m looking for something effective.

Friendships and Social Life Friendships after lots of therapy :)

Hello women of Eire <3

I don't know how successfulĀ this post will be but lets give it a bash!

I was pondering the other day of how my social circle shrunk so much as I have healed my hurts from childhood etc. I know myself very well and continue to attend therapy as needed. It has been life changing for me. I no longer put myself in situations that are draining for me or where my system feels under threat.Ā

How does one find people of similar mindsets, who have done the work? I would love to be able to have friends in my life, who are similar to me, who I can enjoy doing things with but dontĀ come with trauma/drama! In return I do think I make a very supportive and considerate friend. I am not saying I wouldntĀ be there during hard times, if you've done the work you will know the kind of drama I am talking about. (IFS therapy ladies unite!)

There obviously isn't a specific hobby that I can join and find people with similar mindsets. If there were any ladies who this resonates with, I do enjoy going for coffee/dog walks/brunch/comedy gigs/the odd bit of crochet/interested in starting padel... etc.. :) based in Meath xx

Fashion and Beauty Tretinoin for anti-aging in Ireland

Happy Friday ladies,

I am looking for a proper place in Ireland to get tretinoin from, instead of getting it from Amazon (I know, I know…).

I have heard about goandglow and have gone through the first couple of steps but it is asking for a selfie and a copy of an official piece of ID. Before I do that and get my identity stolen, did any of ye use their service and was everything ok? Or do you have another service to suggest?

Relationships and Dating Is this too much too soon/love bombing?

Ladies I need some advice!

I matched with a guy on a dating app a couple weeks ago. I’m 29 and he’s 34.

From the beginning, he has been super complimentary about my looks (but not in a creepy or gross way) so I obviously find it very flattering. We honestly didn’t chat too much online before meeting in person. When we met we really connected and the chemistry was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.

Our first meeting was 12 days ago. Since then, we’ve met in person 5 times and were intimate one of those times. He’s super affectionate with me which is new for me but I quite like it, holding my hand or waist. We do kiss a lot (even when we’re not intimate) as the sexual tension is high. I’ve been following his lead on this tbh.

This weekend will be the longest we’ve been apart/not communicating since meeting as he’s gone for 4/5 days on a guys camping trip. Now that I’ve had some space, I’m wondering if we’re moving too fast? Or if his behaviour is love bombing? I ended a long term relationship earlier this year so am still new to the online dating scene. I’m also not Irish while he is so I’m wondering if it may be a culture difference and Irish guys tend to be more full on?

We also haven’t had any discussions regarding what we are or what we’re looking for as I feel it’s still too soon for that.

Chat and Craic Friday Frustrations: Your chance to rant and vent about the week just gone..

As suggested in our recent feedback thread, here is your opportunity for a weekly rant and vent.

Had a long week? Work driving you insane? Life being life? Encountered one too many absolute idiots out in the wild? Temporarily hate your other half?

This is your safe space to have a moan, blow off steam and let it all out judgement free.. so you can head into the weekend feeling lighter.

Only rule: keep it respectful and within the subreddit rules.

Have your rant, then go enjoy your Friday!

Fashion and Beauty Comfy wide going out trainer recs please

I live in Altra trail runners due to chronic pain & back problems. I don’t dress up much going out but would still like an alternative to trail runners when going out! What wide fit vaguely supportive trainers do people wear?

Friendships and Social Life Where can I go to find female friends my age (30s) that are not mam groups?

Hi all,

I am F32 and moved to a different county with my husband as he is from here. We don't have kids and decided years ago that they weren't for us.

I've been here for 2 years and still haven't made any friends that are girls my age -there's groups I see advertised around the area and they are always mam groups or after school things.

I tried volunteering but it was all elderly people who need something to do in retirement who I wouldn't have much in common with.

Anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

Other Skin advice…please

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello. I’m currently battling what I think could be popular rosacea? Some background, I never had skin issues until this year. I’m naturally pale and don’t have the classic rosacea redness on my cheeks/nose. However, on occasion I will develop papule like spots on my cheeks. Especially on days where I have to go to the office or having a stressful day where I might feel flushed. They are localised, red, not solid, but slightly raised. The photo attached is an example I took from google. The red spot is very defined and fades to nothingness after a few days. I can’t seem to figure out what’s triggering these. Rosacea? Irritation from something external like skincare? Food allergies? Nutrition? Hormones?

Any advice would be appreciated. My skincare is very minimal. No actives. I wash my face with just water followed by LRP Cicaplast. In the evening again just water followed by diluted glycerine mixed with Squalane oil.

News and Politics Consent video taken down

Minister O'Callaghan being tone deaf to how consent works. It's not just about sex.

How do you feel about teaching children consent?

I ask my niece and nephews if they'd like a goodbye hug or high five or something else and they love to suggest a fist pump these days. Consent isn't hard to seek.

TLDR: Dublin Rape Crisis campaign on consent posted a video about grandparents hugs not always being welcome and boundary setting. Minister for Justice criticised it and it got taken down.

Update: Thanks for the engagement, brilliant points made. I'm also going to donate to DRCC after being inspired by comments.

Fashion and Beauty Jeans/trouser recommendations for smaller waist and bigger thighs?

Never thought this is a question I’d be asking!

I recently lost a significant amount of weight and have no pants that fit me. I’ve gone to most of the major shops, Zara, H&M, Mango, and found that the smallest size, usually a UK 8, doesn’t fit my waist.
However anything smaller won’t fit my thighs.

Any recs for jeans and trousers that will fit a smaller waist and bigger thighs?

Fashion and Beauty Extra high waisted jeans recommendations?

I have a pair of light blue Adalae high waisted jeans from new Look that I need to replace. Now that the shop has shut down I'm struggling to find a similar fit. Every pair of high waisted jeans I've bought from different shops aren't as high waisted as those (their waist came to about the bottom of my ribcage).

I'd really love if anyone has recommendations for similar jeans that I can buy in Ireland and actually try on in a shop? I have some cropped tops I just can't wear with the lower waistlines!

Fashion and Beauty Moisturiser recommendation for winter?

I’ve been using cerave f50 daily and neutrogena hydrogel at night as my moisturisers for months now and getting on grand, but my skins gone fairly dry recently (both my face and body). I think I usually just put moisturiser on a bit more often but honestly I can’t remember. I’m trying to get better with my skincare.

Does anyone else deal with the same? What products do you use in the colder months?

Fashion and Beauty Bra Fitting Shops

Hello! Does anyone have experience using the bra fitting service in Arnotts?

If so, are they using the +4 method? I've been trying to find my ABTF / BOB size for months and would love to get a proper fitting in person not using the outdated +4 method.

I'll be in Dublin next week and am hoping to make the most of it for this mission.

Apologies if this has been asked before , I did do a search here but didn't see anything.

Thank you 😊
