I made a Jeeves and Wooster fan site: every scene, character and engagement, cross-referenced

Thanks to the mods for letting me share this here.

I've been building The Wooster Papers (https://woosterpapers.com), a companion to the Jeeves stories. It covers all sixteen books, from the early stories to Aunts Aren't Gentlemen.

Each book is broken into scenes, and every person, place and object has a page showing where they appear and who they have dealings with across the books.

The out-of-copyright books are available to read in full; for the later ones, you can read individual passages alongside the index.

I used AI models to extract the scenes and connections from the text. I've been checking and correcting them as best I can, and there's still plenty to do.

A few things I've particularly enjoyed putting together:

  • The illustrations: 150 original Strand Magazine illustrations, placed alongside the scenes they depict. The scans are from Madame Eulalie's Rare Plums (https://www.madameulalie.org), a wonderful archive of early Wodehouse.
  • The Museum of Regrettable Decisions: the things Jeeves would not stand for, from the purple socks and the white mess jacket to the Alpine hat, and what became of each.
  • The Engagement Ledger: 76 couples, who got engaged to whom and who got out of it.
  • Remembered in passing: the old stories recalled in a line or two, such as Boat Race night, the newt in the salad, and Tuppy and the swimming-bath rings.

There's also a search across all sixteen books, useful for tracking down a half-remembered phrase ("lead into boxing glove", "far from gruntled") or a name. And a Surprise me button that takes you to a random scene.

It's a fan project, free, with no ads and no sign-up. There will be mistakes, and you all know these books better than any index does, so if you spot something wrong or missing, please tell me.
