You tube with r3dfox browser
Anybody had any luck playing you tube videos with r3dfox browser. It constantly stutters and stops and start for me. Tried the tweaks that google suggested but nothing seems to help.
EDIT found out if I go to another tab the stuttering stops and it plays smoothly but then I can't see the video.

The infamous hp dv6500 from 2007 in 2026
Hey guys, as you can see in this image, this is a hp dv6500 laptop from 2007 which my dad bought. These things aree pretty rare cause most of them had this gpu problem and used to fry themselves. But that's not the case with mine. I've been using this laptop since 2016, up until then my dad was using it for media consumption like movie watching, web browsing and such. This was my first laptop and I still own it, it's my media centre now, I mostly listen to music and watch movies in this as the speakers are fantastic and the display is pretty mediocre by today's standards. This rocks the nvidia GeForce 8400m gs, a pretty low end budget gpu even back then. I have not changed the os, its still windows vista running with extended kernal and that's how I got chrome running in it. Ofcourse this laptop's hardware is obselete in today's standards and it's not my daily driver, I own a lenovo loq rtx 5060. But this hp has way better speaks than the Lenovo loq and has a better build quality than that laptop. What are your thoughts on this laptop?? This is the arabic version of the laptop and evrything else is stock on this peace of hardware.

Update Xp/Vista pc
Hi all,
Just sharing my Dell Precision E521 i slightly upgraded a couple of years back and went AM2 because it did not get much love most went to Intel 775 for their retro builds. I use this rig for Xp and Vista in dualboot, current specs are as follows.
Current spec:
CPU: Athlon 64 x2 3800 89w with a alu Dell heatsink
RAM: 2x1gb 667mhz DDR2 (previous upgrade was 2x512mb 533mhz)
GPU: HD 7750 1gb GDDR5 (previous upgrade was with igpu Nvidia 6150LE)
STORAGE: WD 320gb with 2 partitions from 2008
OPTICAL: DVD-RW
PSU: Stock 305w
SOUND: Stock
Lately it feels that the hdd is on it's way out it has slow downs when the hdd is doing tasks so i will try to upgrade that and more with the following
Upgrade spec:
CPU: Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 89w with a copper Dell XPS 420 heatsink
RAM: 2x2gb + 2x1gb = 6gb of 800mhz cl5 ddr2 (still on it's way)
GPU: GTX 750 1gb GDDR5 (only single slot fits) want to go more to something era apropriate like 8800gt or 9800gt mainly Nvidia for Physx.
STORAGE: 500gb 7200rpm (not ordered yet, need a fast and reliable drive not really into ssd for these OS)
OPTICAL: DVD-RW
PSU: Stock 375w (from a XPS 420)
SOUND: Creative Soundblaster SB0460 for EAX (still on the way)
MAINTENANCE: I did also dust the rig out and applied new MX7 on the motherboard chipset, caps are still good
Still waiting on some parts but really want this rig to run at it's best and will share some pics and update once everything is in and running.

Why is it so hated?
I have tried all of the windows operating systems and none of them except 8 was anything but great. I personally found vista to be my favorite to use but it seems this opinion is not favored

Multi-booting Windows 1.01 to Windows 10 on a non-Intel/AMD laptop (?!?)
galleryAround this time last year, I worked on a similar project but with a standard Intel-based PC. Everything went quite smoothly so this time I want to challenge myself a bit-and it’s also a way to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of Windows XP.
Many of you might wonder how a laptop that doesn't use an Intel or AMD chip can possibly have such broad compatibility. Well, if you’ve ever looked into the history of the x86 architecture you’ll find that besides Intel and AMD there were several other companies that also produced x86 chips tho but in much smaller quantities. Notable among them is VIA Technologies which holds x86 licenses acquired through its purchase of Cyrix and Centaur, the two companies that had entered into cross-licensing agreements with Intel in the late 90s.
And what I have here is the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC powered by VIA C7-M, the last x86 32 bit CPU that was made by a third party. From the moment I bought it I knew this is a rare and truly special device, so what better way to explore its potential than to see just how many versions of Windows I could install on. It’s a bit of a shame that it’s a 32 bit CPU meaning the laptop can’t run Windows XP x64 or Windows 11. But in any case, 15 versions of Windows from 1.01 to 10 can certainly be considered a success to me.
The big improvement over the previous project is using Grub4dos bootloader instead of Xfdisk. This allows for direct loading the boot file of each Windows partition, bypassing the intermediate steps such as bootmgr→ntldr→io.sys that were previously required. Overall, the laptop runs stably but it still has some quirks that are unique to this one. You can check out the details of my experience in the video below:
Here are the specs for my laptop:
• CPU: VIA C7-M 1.6GHz
• iGPU: VIA S3 Chrome 9 HC
• Chipset: VIA CN896+VT8237S
• RAM: 2GB DDR2
• Storage: 160GB HDD SATA 2 (IDE mode)
• Display: 8.9 inches WXGA (1280x768)
• Wifi: WLAN 802.11; Bluetooth 2.0

Legacy Update Not Working on Windows Vista
I’m having trouble getting Legacy Update to work on Windows Vista. It gets stuck loading and eventually displays the screen shown below.
I’ve tried reinstalling Legacy Update multiple times and even reinstalled Vista twice, but the issue persists.
Interestingly, Legacy Update works perfectly on Windows XP, 7, 8.1, and 10 using the same laptop through Parallels Desktop, successfully downloading all available updates.
Has anyone experienced this issue on Vista or know how to fix it? Any help would be appreciated!

Browsers
I've been using r3dfox (started with Supermium but left due to troubles with extensions iirc) and while it gets the job done, its UI doesn't fit Vista very well and feels pretty slow compared to ESR 52 (which is hardly usable even ignoring its vulnerabilities, any captcha wrecks it and it hits a lot of these). Scrolling and animations are always choppy and delayed even in lightweight or about: pages, while ESR 52 is quite smooth. I wouldn't be surprised if it's something inherent to FF backports though, I used many other forks in old OS X versions and they always felt worse than the OG, even compared to modern official releases in newer OS on the same hardware.
Are r3dfox and Supermium the only options, or maybe someone successfully patched r3dfox's UI with stuff like Echelon? I've tried the latter, but it crashed on startup after the dll swap, probably requires a newer OS. Would appreciate any tips on making r3dfox faster overall, though I probably should be asking that in Eclipse forums.

Windows Vista Home Premium sleep mode problems
I have the screen saver timer set to 10 minutes, and the sleep mode timer set to 15 minutes, but for some reason once the screen saver starts, it's like it completely resets the sleep mode timer and makes it take another 15 minutes after that instead of 5, making the whole process from the last time you moved the mouse to going into sleep mode take 25 minutes when I want it to be 15. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Help [Help] How do I install Vista onto an external USB HDD?
As the title says, I am trying to install Windows Vista onto an external 1TB HDD connected via USB. I first converted the drive into MBR and tried to install it. But when I try to install it, an error message pops up saying: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port."
I have made a 64 GB partition meant for Vista again, but how can I install Vista Ultimate x64 onto an EXTERNAL USB HDD? I'm doing this to try to run an old program that won't boot in Windows 7.
