Year-Model number 1866-1912 Winchester Model 1866 Appreciation Post
Howdy Everyone!
So here is another Winchester down, and this one is the next in line of Gun Appreciation Posts, and I think that this one turned out great. The rundown on the Model 1866.
This is the successor to the Henry Model 1860, and essentially you could argue that Winchester truly was born here, since this was commercially successful.
Nowadays we have reproductions of the rifle, and it is nice to see that these are back, but of course we cannot use the original .44 Henry Rimfire anymore since the ammunition went completely obsolete in the 1930s, and has been out of production since.
Luckily the new Miroku (The Japanese now make the Winchester Lever Actions), Cimmaron, and Uberti clones shoot some regular cowboy action ammo that you can find at your local Sportsman’s Warehouse, Academy, Cabellas, Bass Pro Shops, or Scheels. You got .44-40 and .45 LC for example, and .45 LC is actually one of the most profitable cartridges to reload, so if you are into reloading, do consider it. I don’t reload, but from buddies of mine, they say that reloading your own .45 LC is a good idea.
Anyways, enjoy!

Lever-Action Henry 1860 Appreciation Post
Howdy Everyone!
We got a new Gun Appreciation Post here, with more to come later on, and today, we have the one and only!
1860 Henry Repeater, aka what helped Winchester begin the Lever Gun Game! Though not to be confused with Henry Repeating Arms Co. as that company has no relationship with the original designer because they were started by Italian-Americans in Brooklyn, New York and then moved to New Jersey, and then Wisconsin where they are now.
The 1860 Henry was truly the GOAT, and it later evolved into the Winchester Model 1866 with massive improvements.
Though I will say, the 1860 Henry deserves a lot of praise for helping Winchester as a company.

Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck
I am looking to purchase a Winchester model 12 heavy duck gun. The one that is the heavier 8.2 pounds version. I cant access one in person so I’ve been shopping online and it’s hard to tell the difference between a standard model 12 and the heavy duck version.
i was told if it says “For Super Speed and Super X” on the side of the barrel that means it’s Heavy Duck. I was also told that the heavy duck chambers 3 inch and comes with a 28, 30 or 32 inch barrel. I’m hoping someone can confirm or fix my information and maybe give me more info to look for.

New model 70’s?
What does everyone think of the new model 70 compared to the push feed and pre 64s? How is the overall fit finish and functionality of them? They certainly seem to be nice guns, just wanted to hear what people have to say since its a hefty price tag. I know someone who has a new never fired ‘80 or ‘81 model year that they would part with for a good price, but would prefer the controlled round feed. Anyone have any thoughts or input

CCI Stinger Compatibility - Winchester Wildcat 22 lr
Hello,
I own a Winchester Wildcat .22 LR semi-automatic rifle and would like to confirm whether CCI Stinger 32-grain copper-plated hollow point ammunition (1,640 fps) is safe and compatible with this rifle.
Since CCI Stinger ammunition has a longer case than standard .22 LR ammunition, I would like to verify that it complies with SAAMI specifications, which indicate a maximum case length of 25.40 mm, and that it is suitable for the Wildcat’s chamber.
Thank you for your assistance.

My First Winchester
My first winchester ended up being this 1897 for around 350$. Ive broke it down to clean and remove the plug in the magizine tube. Seems like it was used in cowboy action shooting based on the other gun brought in on the same consignment drop off. Unsure about the manufacturing date but it seems well maintained even for a competition gun. The magizine tube spring seems slightly bent, so im thinking of replacing it as I clean the gun. Runs well, shot it once already and I love it, goes well with my Remington 11 Project.

Semi-Automatic M1 Carbine Series Appreciation Post
Howdy Everyone!
Back at it again with another Gun Appreciation Post in the rich history and lore of Winchester Repeating Arms Co. where today, we take a look at one of their most popular items during WW2.
The M1 Carbine!
Much like how Winchester made M1 Garands, they also made M1 Carbines to supply the Marines and Army with. In fact the Marines in the pacific actually preferred the M1 Carbines because for jungle warfare, it was a lot better suited for the jungle conditions, and it also made it a lot easier to maneuver around because the M1 Garand would start tugging and snagging in the brush, and it was also a little too big in the pacific.
The M1 Carbine filled the role a lot better, and that’s why it was well regarded in the pacific actually. Even Post-WW2, this thing refused to die, and it’s been serving throughout Korea, as well as Vietnam where RVN troops loved and adored the thing just like how they loved the M16s.

Model 94 rear sight question
Just wondering if this section of the rear sight is meant to be moved up and down? Maybe for slight elevation adjustment?. Also does anyone know how to remove it for example drive it downward, upward, or knock it out forward. Thanks in advance (Pre 64)

Top eject 94 needs a new barrel
After using two different types of factory ammunition and three different bullet weights in hand loads, I have determined that my pre-64 top eject 94 needs a new Barrel (6in groups at 100yds from bench rest)
My Google-fu has led me to a couple of sites where they used to sell top eject barrels, but they're all sold out everywhere now.
Are there any barrel makers anywhere who could make me one, and while we're at it, could they ream out the chamber to be 30-30 AI? If I'm going to replace the barrel I may as well squeak another 100- 200 ft per second out of it.

Got these from my grandpa's things. Any idea on the age?.
He passed recently, and I inherited his shotgun but found these, and they look old, but I dont know anything about guns, so it'd be nice to know something about these.

Help me identify this "mod. 80"?
It sure looks like it's says mod. 80 to me but apparently Winchester never made a model 80? Lots of patent dates on the bottom line, going as late as 1911.

Winchester 94AE Link
I have a Winchester model 94AE serial number in the 5,200,000 range and I need a new link. The parts stores all make a distinction that thiers are for serial numbers 5,500,000 and above does anyone know if its compatible? I cant find any made for rifles below that.

Triple K magazine for Winchester 1907SL
Does anyone know where I can find a Triple K magazine for a 1907SL? I've been watching Ebay and GunBroker for months and haven't seen a single one for sale. I placed an order for one on Triple K's website and was informed via email they are not actually in stock and I'd only be charged if they could fulfil my order. I also called and emailed them directly with no response.
I have quite the collection of OEM 10rd mags but of course as soon as I decide I want a Triple K mag for a project, they seem to have vanished.
Any leads are appreciated. Thanks!

1924 '94
I have my grandfather's 1924 '94 Winchester and absolutely love it. Been hunting with it for the past 30 years. It is getting harder to shoot every year due to my 60 year-old eyesight. Not able to attach a scope to it, but still shoots dead center. My granddaughter loves to hunt with it, so it will be going to her when I can no longer hunt. Hopefully she will pass it down to her grandkids. A lot of good stories and history with this rifle.

Year-Model number 1866-1912 Winchester Model 1894 Appreciation Post
Howdy Everyone!
Back at it again with another post about the history and rundowns of each Winchester Rifle, I thought I would come back here with one, so how about we get the most commercially successful one out of the way, and featured is a less common pistol slant grip model.
The Winchester Model 1894!
Enjoy!

Anyone in CA (inland empire) area know of a gunsmith that will cut down my 94 barrel? Want to convert it to trapper size.

1904 model 1894
I have an 1894 and part of the rear sight is broken (red line). I am curious if the circled portion will wear out due to the strain on the metal (red circle). I want to shoot it more often but I don’t want to loose the other part of the rear sight. So I’m on the fence of what I want to do with it. Do I leave it alone? Try to solder it back together? Or get a sight base and replace the broken sight base?

Lever-Action Winchester 94 preservation
Got this pre 64 recently at a pawn shop for $750. Seller told me it was an old truck gun / still good for hunting. Light rust and putting on receiver and rubbed off bluing on magazine tube / barrel bands. I want to retain the value (or at least whatever’s left) by not re-blueing the receiver, but I don’t want the pitting / rust to get any worse. What’s the move?
