vet assistant here, we would never ask a client to restrain their own pet haha. We dont even have the owner in the room when anything is being done. Typically im the one restraining the dog actually 😭

Nurse

Been there did that. Quit like a boss too. It's a long story but here goes. I went to work in a nursing home. I was a geriatric nurse. When I went to the interview I could smell urine at the front doors. THIS IS NOT A GOOD SIGN IN A NURSING HOME. Took the interview anyway. I had 3 small children and needed the job. I had just moved back from Florida leaving a job I absolutely loved to help take care of my very elderly grandparents. Their health was declining and my mom couldn't do it all. Any way I got the job. I went to work and quickly figured out they seemed to be shorthanded on a regular basis. On the day I quit it was just me LPN and the charge nurse RN. shift was 7 an to 3 pm . We had no CNA's on the floor and the idiot RN didn't call to see if we could get anyone in to help. So I start my day. I am passing meds. Cleaning wounds, passing out food trays getting patients up and dressed. Changing bedding. The floor had 50 rooms. 2 patients to a room. So I had 100 people to care for. Meanwhile the RN is standing at the desk. Doing 2 thing JACK AND SHIT. I had already worked through my morning break. Lunc was supposed to be from 12 to 12:30.at 12:20 I want to the charge nurse to let her know I was going to go down stairs smoke a cigarette and grab a soda and that I would be right back. She said and I quote if you go to lunch now you're fired. I tilted my head in confusion. I never said I was going to lunch. So I said I am not going to lunch I am going to go downstairs smoke a cigarette. Grab a soda and I will be right back. She told me "I SAID IF YOU GO TO LUNCH NOW YOU ARE FIRED. I walked over to the time clock. Grabbed my time card clocked out and said well I guess I an fired. The time clock was right by the elevator. When the doors opened on the ground floor I was literally sprinting for the front doors. Before I could get there the DON ( director of Nursing) stopped in front of me . She asked to do a exit interview. I told her exactly what happened. She said is there anything I can do that will make you stay. I sai yes. Fire that bitch upstairs. She said I can't do that. Ivsaid then I can't work for you. I guess I was to spoiled from the facility I worked at in Florida they really knew how to treat both the patients and the employees. If it hadn't been for my grandparents I would still be working there today.

I’m not a nurse but I work a psych floor and I can tell you that sounds like the titanic is sinking! When I got to the part about passing trays, changing people, changing bedding, AND COMPLETING MED PASS I lost my shit. I’ve seen some lazy fucking yappers of nurses before, but this is insane! I would have been so livid!
It’s said that when a nurse enters a management position the gods flip a coin. They are either amazing godsends to the role or they will burn it all to the ground.
Keep up the absolutely outstanding work ethic because you are amazing!!!!

Well, unfortunately my user name gives it away. But, I’m still going with: “no, you can’t do that because…it’s illegal, discriminatory, against company policy etc.”
