Vendor Help Photographer needed

‱ Upvotes

Looking for a photographer for an April 2027 wedding! It’ll be in the city and very low key, would probably only need a few hours. Not looking for anything fancy, just looking to capture memories with family and close friends. Not looking to spend more than $4k is this reasonable?

ISO - Vendors Allowed affordable stylist for march wedding

‱ Upvotes

Hi all! My fiancĂ©e and I are getting married in march with a city hall ceremony followed by party the next day. We’re interested in just getting hair done for both events and will take care of own makeup. Does anyone have an affordable stylist recommendation? We asked one place and it was $1600 for hair for both of us + a required additional $800 for a trial
this seems insanely steep to me for JUST hair. Our budget is closer to $1000 for us both for both days. Does anyone have any recs?

Thank you :)

Vendor Help Catering - Harold Pratt House

I'm getting married at HPH and looking to lock in catering - so far I've gotten quotes from Creative Foods Catering, Eventfull NYC, Thomas Pretti, and Red Table. Based on price, Creative Foods seems to be the most affordable option - but curious if anyone can speak to their experience working with them or if there are any other caterers I should be considering with competitive pricing?

General Question Did your NYC guests book a hotel for your LI wedding?

We're considering some LI venues ~1hour drive from the city and I'd love to do an afterparty near the hotel but I'm wondering if our guests would rather rush home instead of moving venues since it might not feel worth it to get a hotel. If you had a LI wedding and you had a lot of NYC guests, did most of them opt to go home or get a hotel for the night? Around 60% of our guests will be from out of state, so we're assuming that most of them would want to get a hotel.

Venue Help Looking for Venues $100pp++

As close to $100pp++ including venue, food, drink

I’m a little disappointed because we found a venue we loved at this budget, but they haven’t responded to any emails in a month and a half. Doesn’t bode well

We have another at this budget we will be touring in November, but visually it would need a lot of florals to warm the space. Whereas the other needed very little

I love ornate ballrooms, antique, vintage, outdated rooms haha

Less a fan of stark white, modern, industrial

But open to any suggestions to add to our list.

Thank you!

General Question For those having weddings with lots of out-of-town guests, who’s handling everyone’s travel logistics?

I recently attended a wedding where a lot of family members were flying into different NYC and New Jersey airports.

The bride was trying to manage everyone’s flights, accommodations, airport transportation, and even Airbnb check-in issues while juggling all her wedding events. At one point, she was helping guests figure out their accommodations while getting ready herself.

It made me realize how much extra work falls on the couple when family is traveling from different places.

For those of you planning weddings with lots of out-of-town guests, how are you handling all of this?

Are you organizing everything yourselves, assigning family members to help, or using a different approach? I’d love to hear what’s worked for you and what you wish you’d planned for earlier.

General Question How did your courthouse/after party go?

For girlies who did the courthouse wedding and then after party at a restaurant, how did you organize the after party? Or timing of everything? Did you do vows or anything traditional at the restaurant? We’re planning courthouse Friday and then party on Saturday so not sure how to plan everything out!

Venue Help Venue for 50-ish people >$30k

Hello all!

Covering all of our bases before we officially commit, we’re looking for a venue within the 5 boroughs that can do a Saturday in November with likely around 50-60 people. All-in budget for the whole kit and kaboodle is about $30k. A needle in a haystack, we know. We aren’t interested in a restaurant buyout, and we could be a little flexible for the right venue. The vibe is very medieval, very celestial, so historic venues are of most interest. We’ve looked at Van Cortlandt Lakehouse and Reid Castle which were nos, and currently are likely to book with The Sanctuary, but wanted to see if anyone had ideas for other venues. Thank you!

Dress / Attire Shopping Seamstress who can hand-dye appliqué details?

Hi all, first post here!

I was looking at dresses out of state with my future MIL and found a dress with some floral accents. I loved the dress and the detailing, but not the color of the flowers (they were pink and blue and it just looked too baby shower to me). The shop attendant said the dress also comes in all white and that I could get a seamstress to hand-dye the appliqué florals in the color of my choosing.

Does anyone know of a seamstress (or sewist, the gender-neutral term just sounds like a weird word to me) who does this, maybe someone you used for your own dress? Is there someone you would (or emphatically wouldn't) recommend? What was the cost like? I don't have a frame of reference for the cost but I assume it's on the expensive end.

Thanks!!

ISO - Vendors Allowed hair artist w/no minimum services

Hi all!

I’m trying to find a hair artist for my wedding and most places have been asking for 4 or 6 services minimum. I don’t have bridesmaids so I will only need 3 services total, the bride, MOB, and MOH.
I already have a makeup artist so that part is covered as well.
Do you guys have any recommendations for anyone who might not have a minimum services criteria?
My wedding is 5/15/27 in NYC and I’m flexible on budget.
Thank you!
