I took a picture [Casio] Sometimes, a watch just speaks to you - Finally bought my first watch!

About three years ago, I was homeless. Life looks very different today, and I'm genuinely grateful for how far I've come.

This is actually my first-ever watch purchase.

I still have a long way to go, but being able to buy something I want without worrying about how I'll manage financially afterwards is something I'll never take for granted.

I absolutely love the dial on this thing. I know there are plenty of better watches out there, but sometimes a watch just catches your eye, and this one did it for me.

To most people, this might just be another Casio. To me, it's a reminder of how much life can change and how important it is to appreciate the little things along the way.

I'm thankful for where I am today, and I hope there's a lot more to celebrate in the years ahead.

If life feels difficult right now but don't lose hope.

Things can change in ways you never imagined! Keep going, take it one day at a time, and don't forget to celebrate the little wins!

Hi, today im wearing a beaubleu ecce lys 39mm. Its a french brand who make a lot of beautiful watch like this one. Their watch are differents than other brand and this is what i like.

They are based in Paris. It is very easy to wear, lightweight, and the Milanese mesh is very comfortable. The closure system is also well-designed, and we have a quick-release system.

Discussion Why does Mühle Glashütte seem so slept on?

Post image
• Upvotes

Outside of the S.A.R. I really feel like you don’t often hear much about this brand. I had been interested in a Flieger-style watch for a while but just couldn’t justify the cost of an IWC. After going down the rabbit hole I began researching Mühle and it checked all the boxes: cool history, family owned for multiple generations, highly modified movements, clean finishing, and pretty dang affordable for a watch with Glashütte on the dial.

I found a good deal on the Terrasport II and snagged it. I’m highly impressed with what you get for the money. I don’t understand why this brand doesn’t get more recognition in the watch community.

Discussion What’s your favourite dial (not watch) that you own?

Post image
65 Upvotes

What’s your favourite dial that you own which is not your favourite watch? I love the dial on my 1970 Bulova Snorkel because it has so much character and it feels as if every part of the dial has a purpose, but my year 2000 Seamaster is still my favourite watch because of how it wears and the unbelievable reliability.

So, show me your favourite dial and explain why you like it so much.

Recently got back from a trip to Japan and couldn’t resist picking up a few pieces to remember it by:

  1. Omega Seamaster Diver 300M: My first premium watch. The build and quality speaks for itself when wearing it, super happy to add this to my collection!

Rock-solid everyday diver, though the bottom of the watch scratched within the first two hours of wearing it, but I think it's good, I'll not baby it and wear it almost all the time

  1. OutLine GMT-1960 (Ivory Dial / Pepsi): OutLine is a vintage-focused Japanese. I love how vintage Rolex GMTs develop that warm, faded, almost Bakelite-acrylic look on their bezels over decades, and that's the look this brand tries to replicate in their watches.

  2. Kuoe Kyoto Royal Smith 90-006: Kuoe is an independent Kyoto microbrand that has been on my radar for quite a while, and the vintage 1950s aesthetic with the cream waffle dial and Breguet numerals was an instant winner when I saw it in person.

A year ago, I came on here to ask for advice and you guys helped me find this watch which had a perfect combination of all the things my boyfriend wanted in a watch: glows in the dark, has a compass, hard to break, and stylish. He absolutely loved it and wears it every day. It looks beautiful on him and I'm very happy with the choice I made. Thanks for your help last year, I would've never discovered this otherwise!

A while back, I started collecting historic leather pieces and making them into watch straps for my collection. Thought I'd share a few pictures of the process. Remaking a historic military strap into a single-pass strap for my Seiko. I kept the original belt holes throughout the strap - not only do I like the look, it allows a bit of airflow.

2008 model explorer full set or a 2026 Tudor with jubilee bracelet brand new? Which do you prefer? I like both but can’t decide. The Tudor would get me spend at the Rolex AD which is a small bonus to me.

Discussion Grew up poor. Watch guilt?

Post image
366 Upvotes

Posted this in r/rolex and it generated some great discussion so I’m posting here. I’m new to the community so I don’t really know how this will be received, but I grew up pretty poor. My parents started a business around the time I was 17 and it took off in short order, so we went from living in a trailer and barely making ends meet to middle upper class in the span of a few years. Even as that happened, they always continued to live pretty well below their means. That childhood stuck with me.

Fast forward and I’m 35, have done well independently, my wife also gets paid well and we’re firmly upper class — we can afford nice things, but have never really splurged. My wedding band was a $40 cobalt ring (now just a silicone band). I don’t wear designer clothes. I drive an f-150 (although I realize those truck prices are luxury these days lol). I’m blessed with a wife who also has very modest tastes and we’re trying to raise our kids the same.

I’ve always wanted a nice watch and I finally pulled the trigger on a Root Beer. But I’m feeling a little guilty wearing $22k on my wrist. The rest of my collection is worth maybe $1000 combined (I like Seikos and Casios!).

We’re also strong believers in Jesus — I recognize that’s not a factor for everyone and respect different beliefs, but we do try to be good stewards of the wealth we ultimately believe isn’t ours — we try give a lot to the poor and to good causes. So it feels like sometimes that money could be working harder for others.

Anyone here navigate similar feelings with their first expensive watch purchase? I appreciate any input and I thank you guys in advance!

P.S pardon the steering wheel shot, it’s the best photo I have.

Discussion [Breitling Pawn Find]

I do a lot of driving for my job so always like stopping by pawn shops to see what they got. Was recently passing through my local pawn/gun shop around a week ago and ran across this. Been meaning to find an upgrade for everyday wear/work timepiece from the Seiko I usually wear. They wanted $2700 for this Chronospace automatic, haggled back and forth with the shop, finally got them down to $2100 including taxes. Authenticated by my jeweler where I also had it adjusted. Looks like a 2015 model. Thoughts?

Discussion Decided against the mini DolceVita—went with the classic two-tone instead!

Post image
16 Upvotes

I was initially looking really closely at the Mini DolceVita in rose gold/silver (especially that chain bracelet design), but given the price tag for the mini sizing, I just couldn't bring myself to spend that much for mini .
I ended up going with the classic size in two-tone 18k rose gold with diamonds instead! It feels like such a sweet spot—you get the genuine 18k rose gold with the diamond accents, and a classic shape that feels substantial on the wrist without feeling overpriced for what it is.
For anyone who was torn between the Mini and the Classic, which direction did you go?

I took a picture [Glashutte Original] Favourite Watch

Although I don’t wear this watch all the time as I am kind of baby-ing it when I am at work and etc, I gotta say that the SeaQ PanoDate is defo my favourite timepiece in my collection. I normally go with my Citizen Promaster Fugu and Tudor Black Bay Pro on my work days but I gotta weat my SeaQ whenever I’m off work. I reckon there is something mesmerising about it in its dial, beveled edges and brushing on the case & bracelet. I reckon this watch deserves more attention from the aficionados although it would be pretty tough for a lot of blokes (including myself) to lay your hard earned money on this one instead of more well known picks like the Rolex Sub or Blancpain FF. If you wanna have a sip of fine watchmaking technique from Germany, and you love tool/dive watches, I reckon you gotta shortlist this one!

Discussion Anyone else enjoy watch shopping more than watch collecting?

I’m a one watch guy. When I started doing my research on watches I went into it planning to be a one watch guy.

In the process, I’ve really enjoyed learning about watches. The research and shopping process is great. I’m constantly amazed at how different a watch can seem in person and on the wrist vs in photos and videos. But I don’t have a desire to own these watches. I don’t want a collection of watches. I don’t see a place for other watches in my life. But I still want to see them all.

I’m sure it’s more common than the internet makes it seem, but I’m curious if others here feel this way.

Review WatchSpace. Beware

• Upvotes

Paid for a VC Historiques 1921 on September 2, canceled the Order on October 5 when they had not delivered. Yesterday they sent an email stating that they had NO money and could not refund or issue a Credit to my credit card.

Www.watchspace.com. I would not recommend.

Finally arrived! I was feeling extremely patriotic while on our honeymoon to Canada’s east coast, and this went on sale. My wallet suffered the consequences.

All the benefits really hit. The bezel is an awesome colour that shifts depending on light, really solid and complete finish, the limited NATO is a great set of colours, tritium is really cool, the second hand sweep on the Sellita is pretty, and of course the maple leaf!

Now that I have it, this is definitely going to work with more outfits than I thought. The most unique piece in a small collection for sure.

I took a picture [Junghans] It’s true what they say

Post image

A different strap really does make it feel like you have a new watch. Got this 1950s Junghans Trilastic at a flea market a few years ago. It was on a terrible black leather strap in really rough condition so my girlfriend got me a nice light brown ostrich leather one. That one was sadly too thick so it looked a bit weird on a 34mm watch. Switched to a plain brown leather strap i had on a vintage Nivada today and it’s a difference like night and day. I think the strap matches the watch beautifully and gives it even more of a retro look. Gonna wear this much more often now.

Identify Vintage women’s watch

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi! Can anyone help me identify this vintage gold-tone ladies’ watch? The dial appears to say “Tourist,” and it has a distinctive oval face with an open-link bracelet. I’d love to know its approximate age, model, and value. Any information would be appreciated!

Discussion What’s the one watch in your collection that you find yourself reaching for the most, even though you never expected it to become your go-to?

This has been mine. I tend to gravitate towards dresser or classic watches but I pick this watch up 70% of the time.

Curious to hear everyone’s picks!

this piece is simply wonderful. it has an ethereal quality to it - the indices and hands float above the dial and the weight is unreal at just 60g. but every gram feels solid, the finishing is beautiful, endlink fitment is tight and the case is sharply cut. such a well designed watch with a stunning dial.

MTRC-JPN-EDN-2, bought in Japan about a week ago and I’m back home now. I thought there was a battery issue or some sort of other defect since the second hand kept stopping at the same spot, then I realized the little piece of paper meant for the 23:00 spot was just floating around under the crystal and was sitting on the seconds hand (second pic, first pic it’s at 5:00).

No experience with Brew, so hopefully they handle warranty claims quickly and don’t expect me to go through the shop I bought it from in Osaka.

Discussion [SOTC] 3 for my daily needs

Post image
• Upvotes

Currently rotating between these 3 watches.

The casio GA-2100-1A1 is for the days when things might get a little rough at work and I don't want to worry about scrapping against stuff. Though reading the time in dark places with an all black watch makes it a little hard.

The mido mutlifort big date was something that caught my eye at the airport with its unique dial and big date. Its presence on the wrist is quite a statement and for the price, I would say it's quite a catch.

Lastly, Tudor black bay 54. It's a watch that felt very natural on my wrist. Simple, clean with a gilt that pairs well with a subtle sunburst dial. It doesn't scream for attention but feels like a classic.

I'm currently waiting for my fun watch to come. Either the Tudor black bay 54 lagoon blue or the mido big date Alebrijes. Would not mind more suggestions for a fun watch to include into the collection.
