Mod Announcement Posts about the merchandise

Hey guys,

We're all excited about the new merchandise, but just wanted to bring up 2 things regarding posts about them:

  • For now we are not going to allow "I bought/got these!" posts under rule 8/frequent repost, since they're all essentially the same thing, don't lead to much discussion, and have been flooding the subreddit. New ones posted after this will be removed.

  • While "no buying/selling the books/merchandise" is already a rule, I just wanted to clarify that trading falls under this as well and I have specified it as such in the rules. There are two reasons that we don't allow these: 1) We have had people scammed out of their money in the sub before, and 2) Safety/privacy concerns since there are many minors in the sub. It's best to do this on a site where you must be an adult to have an account and ideally protection for the buyer/seller.

Thank you for understanding,

EDIT for clarification 7/23/26: Posts about buying the merch that contain previously-unknown news - e.g. reporting finding them in a new location, details on placements/weights - are okay, but if it's something we've seen a few times already then that may still be removed.

Mod Announcement "Clans of the Forest" Megathread

Okay, so we've all got a LOT of feelings about the game, and the majority of threads are all very similar - dozens of posts of users giving their own individual thoughts/reviews - so it's better to combine them all into one place here rather than hundreds of people creating their own.

For now, rather than creating separate posts, please post in this thread - I'll see about enabling image comments in the sub.

Not sure yet if it'll warrant creating a sub for the game - it's launch weekend but I imagine discussion's going to slow down after a bit - but we'll see.

Please share your thoughts (not just on the game itself, but on whether it should have its own sub or how r/warriorcats should otherwise handle posts about it) below!

one of the things i enjoy is drawing characters in different outfits like they’re in a fashion show and ive been thinking of warriors lately cuz of the new game so i decided to use some warriors characters for a fashion show. in my actual human au they would wear clothes that look like their cat pelt/patterns (since i use natural hair colours) and they don’t have hair dye but i imagine this is a modern universe so i put them in some different clothes :^)

Why is this even a muzzle option?? The character creation SUCKS

Also why do the muzzle options change the whiskers??

I've been loaded into this game for two seconds and its already stupid

EDIT: yall I know oriental short hairs exist.. that's what I was trying to make. I know cat muzzles can be long BUT the mouth itself is too long. It goes all the way to the end of the eye, it should stop at the beginning of the eye. When it goes that long it starts to look dog like. Oriental cats still look like CATS

Two cover art ideas for my own (unfinished) story. Both feature the main character Rapidstripe. These are pretty nice if I do say so myself, I love drawing with red pencil

Here's some analysis:

In the first drawing Rapidstripe is sitting on the rapids that act as a border between Torrent- and Cliffclan, signaling his split loyalties. He's also far away and looking back which shows a detachment of emotion and distance from his own actions. The image is dominated by a raging stream which can symbolize many things, such as Rapidstripes inner emotions or the coming years

In the second art we see him from much closer up and the emotion is displayed clearer. As Rapidstripe looks down on still water his face is etched with desperation to perhaps see something different. But instead of his own face a dark one decorated with stars stares back. This face represents his father who is evil evil bad bad :(

I kind of view these almost as covers of separate books or sections since they're so different. Anyways these are super fun and help with finding the true character of my cats. Hmmm

I made this Spottedleaf inspired cat. Spottedpaw wasn't a choice so I named her Specklepaw. It's annoying we can't be a medicine cat I love them.

Discussion (No Spoiler) Genuine question: Why are clan symbols needed?

Thumbnail

Although they get used quite a lot in merch and media nowadays, I don't get why they even exist in the first place and what their original purpose was.

I don't know if there is any older source, but these symbols most likely first appeared in maps of the clan territories in the first publications and books of Warriors. However, aside from the pages containing the maps, they are never used anywhere else in the book. Even in the map itself, the symbols are just on the edge, not even a legend that precisely correlates to the map (because StarClan doesn't really have physical territory). And obviously the clans themselves are not advanced enough to use flags or insignias, so they were only meant for the reader.

Perhaps their only purpose was to give some sort of visual representation of each clan? And afterwards they simply became the icon/logo for each clan?

I don't know. What do you think?

I’ve had this book for 2 months people, 8 weeks. This is a serious problem across the board with newer graphic novels but when this came across my desk today, I nearly cried. Every kid in my school wants to read these books, but they’re falling apart faster than I can fix them! I’m so tired of gluing pages back in

There have been quite a few instances in my game thus far of dialogue not being grammatically correct or weird placement of characters. I also had my character's name not update after my leader ceremony until after I went back to my den. Anyone else have some weird/confusing/funny or even cool stuff in their games?

Artworks Stormstar

Post image
27 Upvotes

Stormstar is the second of my leaders I've drawn and this is a pretty good representation of him. I quite like doing these quicker art pieces, since my proper digital paintings takes ages :'D

Time for LORE:

Stormstar is the second oldest leader after Aspenstar but still has all his lives (somehow). It's truly a miracle he even made it to adulthood.

His defining characteristics are positivity, quick wittedness and hot headedness. He often seems shallow and uncaring but still holds a deep love for his clan. His connection to Starclan is weak and he holds much more respect for the earthly spirits, especially the four winds worshipped by Gustclan.

Gustclan lives on the hilly moors and meadows, with few trees for cover. I chose their clan symbol to be a cyclone with a spiral to symbolize both their name and mythical origin. Their stories say that the first cats were created when wind spun wildly and accidentally fused earth, water and plant into one. These cats of the wind followed it wherever it went until eventually one got injured and had to stay on the ground. This cat was the first of their clan.

True to their origin story Gustclan are at heart wanderers and will easily take mates outside of the clans as well as welcome anyone who seeks to join them. They embrace the idea of new blood and even seek certain traits such as lithe long bodies, special colours or patterns and flat noses. Anyone who finds it in their heart to respect them, can join.

Stormstars former name Stormchase holds the following meaning:

Storm- born amidst a storm and/or resembling one by character

Chase- expert hunter, especially of running prey, and always chasing something even if that something is unseen

Gustclan doesn't assign strict meanings to names but there are some things they find important. No cat should have the same name parts as any living or recently dead, the spirit of a cat may wander and without a unique name they can't find their way. The postfixes; mask, face, stripe, spot and pelt are reserved for especially beautiful or handsome cats.

Before his ascension to leaderhood Stormstar was a specialized warrior known as a Storm Chaser. Their job among regular warrior duties is to document and interpret storms. This will both better the understanding of weather patterns and possibly give insight into signs the worldly spirits may give. As a result Stormstar doesn't believe that Starclan is capable of giving signs through weather, such as blocking the moon at gatherings.

So there's some good ol lore. I had more I wanted to write but then this would've just turned into an essay ;P

Discussion (No Spoiler) No communication between environment design team and writing team.

I'm not sure if there was any communication between the map creators and the writing team. In the story itself, the first picture is referred to as the moonpool, even though it obviously isn't because it is way to big. But this secondary glowing pool is right next to it on the map and while not completely accurate, is still closer to the actual moonpool from the books then the one from the first image.

Discussion (Spoiler) I Actually Like Spottedleaf's Heart

I read it for myself today after years of hearing about how bad it is and avoiding it like the plague because of that. And I think this novella may actually be my favorite book in the entire series.

It really had everything I have ever wanted out of a Warriors book if I'm being honest. It was like reading somebodies' completely amazing dark fanfiction of what Warriors could be like.

I seriously think it's the best book in the whole series.

It had no filler. It had great characterization. It had brutal bloodshed and violence. It had nuanced takes on clan life, and a well written protagonist and antagonist. It had actual relationships between characters (mentor and apprentice, denmates, parents and their children, etc), and good worldbuilding-- It felt like a real world that our cast of characters could realistically live in.

And it was so compelling that I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, for the writing to pad for time, and it never did. It was good from start to finish. I have no idea which Erin wrote this one but I wish the whole series was like this. It was amazing.

And yet, honestly, it was so tonally different from the other books in the series that, again, it feels more like a well written fanfiction. Getting this level of high quality writing in the main books or other novellas / super editions would be unthinkable. It felt like I was reading a 100$ wagyu steak vs the rest of the series which is like eating a big mac.

Anyway, that's all I have to say on it.

Artworks A little bit like Sharptooth

Post image
111 Upvotes

This is The Great Mother from my story. She is a cougar and the current holder of her title. The Great Mothers job is to protect the place where cats can connect to Starclan, the Stargiven Cave and who knows, maybe other places as well.

Every time a cat wants to visit the Stargiven Cave the Great Mother will meet them and judge if they are worthy of entry. Anyone can be denied but they are not always caught.

Nobody knows how The Great Mothers started but it is known that she is always female and a descendant of the previous holder of the title. She cannot be talked to even by cats that know other species like wolf, fox or badger speak

The inspiration for this originally came from Sharptooth in the og series but if instead of attacking the cats she was a protective force. This world does have other much more aggressive cougars though, so she is an outlier :P

I set her personal symbol as an eye set in a cat face to represent her connection to the clans, her status as someone who watches over them and as a nod to the Statgiven Cave which has a pool resembling an eye

Not THE happiest with this art but it was meant to be a quick illustration so Im not too upset about it
