Its funny because it takes the typical wise man advice of "the answer is within you" (or "you must look inward for the answers you seek") literally (the gas for the fart was inside them)

If you still dont get it, you can nod and give a little, kinda nervous, laugh while knowing you are missing some S tier humor... shudders just like in the highschool cafeteria
